Odalia Blight is a major antagonist in The Owl House and Cthulhu Mythos crossover fanfic The Gods Awaken.
She is the mother of Amity Blight and the Blight Twins.
Biography[]
When she learns that her daughter was seeing Willow Park again despite their previous arrangements, Odalia threatens to send Amity to the Conformatorium if she continued to go against her wishes. When she receives a notification from Emperor Belos, Odalia is invited to his kingdom and is ushered into the Emperor's Coven, something that she wanted her daughter to study for. When Nyarlathotep promises to make her the most powerful witch in the Boiling Isles, he gives her a staff to better control the sapient armor that Belos was designing. Having been told that it needed to drain magic to operate, Odalia starts to use her son Edric as a source of magic until he became nothing more than a near-lifeless husk.
Learning that her daughter was going to Earth with her friend Luz, Odalia arrives in a human city and sets the armors on the populace to draw the two girls out. To further it, she holds several humans hostage and threatens to kill a small boy. Succeeding at her task, she returns to the Boiling Isles to hand Nyarlathotep the Necronomicon. After returning to his former state of power, Odalia sentences Amity and her siblings away.
While Amity tries to save her two older siblings, Odalia confronts her and starts to battle her concluding that Amity was no longer her daughter. During the scuffle, Amity successfully grabs hold of her staff and smashes it on the ground, destroying the gem in the process.
To her bewilderment, the shards of the gem create a portal leading to the void where the Outer Gods reigned supreme. Tentacles emerge from the portal likely looking for magic to feed on. In desperation, Odalia tries to sacrifice Amity to the Outer Gods only to be grabbed instead. As she tries to desperately clutch at the ground for something to hold, her grip gives way and she is dragged kicking and screaming into the malfunctioning portal. The portal disintegrates ensuring that Odalia would never escape. Instead, she would be driven to insanity from her encounter with the Outer Gods becoming nothing more than a braindead vegetable.
Personality[]
Odalia makes it clear that she only cares for herself and preserving the Blight family name. This is shown even when she is told by Amity that Nyarlathotep intended on destroying the Isles and the Earth stating that she did not care as long as she held the title of the most powerful witch. Much like in canon, she had a considerable amount of control over her children such as dying Amity's hair green to match hers and threatening to make her life worse because Amity was going against her. However even despite her dedication to the Blight family name, Odalia thought nothing of subjecting her son Edric to horrific draining, coldly stating that she would use Emira next once her brother expired.
Much like the other witches in Bonesborough, Odalia held a lot of contempt for mankind due to the propaganda started by Emperor Belos. When she learned about Amity's friendship with Luz, Odalia goes as far as to call her a rat. While she notes that Luz can practice magic, Odalia notes that it is some unconventional form of magic instead of the natural kind witches and bipedal demons can perform with their bile sacs. Her hatred of humans, however, is best demonstrated when she expresses nothing but callousness when ordering the armor suits to tear the city down to find the Necronomicon regardless of how many people she had to squash.
Odalia also seems to show a sadistic side when she shown a wicked smirk, highlighting that not only did she hate humans, but enjoyed watching them suffer and belittling them.
