~ Operative Oxton before killing Vengeance |
Operative Oxton is the main villain in the Into the Mirror, story and its sequel Mirror, Mirror.
Personality[]
Unlike her heroic counterpart, Oxton is sadistic, ruthless, and is willing to kill to achieve her goals. These characteristics are amplified whenever she is using Vanadium, which also caused her to refuse to get rid of it until she was, in a sense, dying.
However, she is also a calculated individual, evident when she convinced a doctor to save her life, then turned around and tried to kill the doctor afterwards.
Biography[]
Before[]
Apparently, her Chrono Accelerator was given to her by Talon, and she and Emily got into a fight about joining Talon. Oxton then blew up Emily so that she couldn't talk her out of it.
Into the Mirror[]
She is watching a hotel gala with Maximilian, whom she threatens after he called her Lena. Maximilian points out that she has a temper and asks her to kill 14 'targets'. Instead, she kills all 594 people in the gala and admits that's the only time she doesn't feel anger. They then plan to blame Overwatch for the massacre.
At Talon HQ, Vengeance reprimands Oxton for her excessive killing spree, and orders her to stay put. Oxton instead leaves Talon HQ with her weapons.
At Watchpoint: Gibraltar, she steals some hardware and fights off Agent Reyes.
She is then celebrating with Talon about their victory over the Vanadium heist. However, Vengeance reprimands Oxton for going against orders, and Oxton challenges Vengeance to a deathmatch.
During the deathmatch, Oxton initially goes easy to mock Vengeance, then escalates the fight onto the rooftops. There, she reveals that she has the Vanadium, and uses it to kill Vengeance, making her the new leader.
Later, Maximilian warns her that using the Vanadium would kill her. She removes it and threatens Maximilian for talking to her in that way. She then launches and attack on Watchpoint: Gibraltar.
At Gibraltar, she uses the Vanadium again and reveals that she blew up Emily out of spite, then buries Ogundimu under a pile of rubble and kidnaps Agent Colomar.
Back at Talon HQ, she attacks Maximilian for telling her that her Junkertown contact was arrested, and he points out that the Vanadium is causing more damage as she uses it. She reluctantly removes it and locks it in a cabinet, then interrogates Colomar. After 30 minutes, she has Maximilian hypnotize Colomar and leaves to check on her Vanadium. She finds it missing, and confronts Maximilian about it. He reveals that he did it so that she wouldn't kill herself with it, but she brushes off his concerns and kills him. She then orders Colomar to find the Vanadium.
She is next seen after the Overwatch team discovers Maximilian's logs, and she got her Vanadium back. She uses it again to fight the Overwatch group, and tasks a brainwashed Colomar to kill Ogundimu. When Colomar decides against it, Oxton attacks Colomar and throws a pulse bomb at Ogundimu, but Colomar takes the explosion. Ogundimu pleads with Oxton to let them cure her Vanadium poisoning, but she refuses and eventually sets off a reaction that drops Talon HQ on top of her.
Mirror, Mirror[]
After the collapse, she somehow swapped places with her heroic counterpart in the cinematic universe, waking up in bed with Emily. She then got rid of her Talon uniform and managed to get Emily away. She then realized that her Vanadium was gone and started coughing up blood, signaling that the Vanadium did more damage than assumed.
She then dresses as Tracer and blends in with Overwatch, and she even managed to cover up her trying to use Mercy's Caduceus Staff by asking Mercy to come with her to China. However, Mercy was suspicious after finding some blood that Oxton coughed up.
Once she landed in China with Overwatch, Mercy confronted her about her health, but Oxton plays it off. She then enters a burning building to look like she's Tracer, but instead locks Findlay's family in the building to die, and coughs up more blood. She then grabs Findlay's sister's scarf and exits the building, and tells Mercy that she got hit by some flames. Mercy confronts her again and decides that Oxton is no longer fit for duty. Oxton then attacks Mercy, knocking her out and dragging her off into a dark room.
After Mercy wakes up, Oxton asks her if her memory checks out, and Mercy tells her that her memory is hazy. Upon hearing this, Oxton convinces Mercy that Talon abducted them and injected her with Vanadium, and has Mercy extract it. During the procedure, Mercy tests Oxton with a question, but Oxton delivers the correct answer, partially because her Angela Ziegler had the same preferences. Once Mercy is finished with the procedure, Oxton takes the Vanadium and injects it into Mercy, intending to kill her. She then calls Soldier: 76 that Talon abducted them before snapping the phone.
Back at Lijiang Tower, she hosts a meeting and tries to convince the team to send a rescue mission in the morning. Soldier: 76 goes against this and orders a recon team consisting of himself and Oxton. Athena then alerts Oxton that someone tried to access Overwatch, and Oxton sends all Overwatch agents to arrest Tracer and Ogundimu. She then takes a glass of wine and spills it off the balcony.
In the isolated room where she kidnapped and imprisoned a dying Mercy, she attempts to kill Soldier: 76 while he is investigating. However, he discovers the Vanadium-infused blood, so Oxton knocked him out and hired Reaper to take him away.
She then goes to Mercy's hospital room and convinces her that she's the real Tracer, and that an imposter tried to kill her. After some discussion, Mercy reveals that she suffered neurological damage from the Vanadium, and that her motor skills were also impaired. Oxton counts this as taking down an Overwatch agent.
Upon arriving back to Lijiang Tower, she told Overwatch that Soldier: 76 was kidnapped, and that Mercy is in the hospital. The team formulates a plan to rescue Soldier: 76, but Mei asks to visit Mercy. Fearing that more people would expose her, she grants Mei's request. Athena then alerts Oxton that Doomfist and the imposter have escaped, and she throws a glass of wine off the balcony in a fit of rage.
Afterwards, she spectates a fight between Reaper and Overwatch after she gave Soldier: 76 to the former, and receives news that Kiriko has a bounty on her head. She decides to go after Kiriko, but runs into the Other Tracer, who quickly subdues her and ties her to a chair. However, Oxton managed to escape, and tied Other Tracer to the chair to slow down her enemies.
She then visited Mercy in the hospital again, this time with a picture of Other Tracer in the chair, making it seem like the threat is gone. Mercy just tells her that her talents were destroyed, so Oxton convinces her to try hypnosis. But once Mercy was hypnotized, Oxton removed her memory of the past few minutes, and set a trap with an antifreeze-coated needle.
Later, she made her way to Lijiang Tower and convinced the Overwatch team that she was the real Tracer, and that there was an imposter. Then, she waited until the real Tracer and Mei confronted her, and she engaged them in a battle, briefly confusing Mei until she tricked Oxton. She then races to the hospital while fighting Tracer and falls behind. However, she witnessed Mercy attack Tracer out of fear, stabbing her with the antifreeze needle. She had a smile on her face while watching this happen.
Afterwards, she went back to Lijiang Tower to continue her actions when Athena informs everyone that Talon has kidnapped Soldier: 76 and Mercy. At the time, she didn't know it was a false message, so, in order to keep her appearances, she went to the Lijiang Hospital center with Ana. Upon arriving, she realizes that she was tricked when Ana locks her in, and she demands to confront Tracer. Tracer tells her to meet on floor 11, so Oxton goes to floor 12 to threaten Mercy. However, both Tracers attack, so she is forced to go to the stairwell and fights the duo there. She uses a pulse bomb (most likely stolen from Tracer's equipment) to get to floor 12, and she sees that the antifreeze was killing Tracer. She taunted the duo, then got to Mercy's room, and tries to blow her up with another pulse bomb. However, Strike Commander Ogundimu blocked the explosion, and punched her into Chronoguard, who used stun guns to subdue her. She initially tries to incriminate the real Tracer to escape punishment, but they identify her anyway. She is then dragged away while swearing vengeance on the gang.
Reflections[]
About 2 months since Chronoguard took her away, she got to know Doomfist due to shared goals. She later broke out of confinement by killing a guard, and decided to release Doomfist because she thought he could be useful to her. And he was, as they fought off several Chronoguard officers and a Roadhog variant. The Chronoguard Boss congratulated them on passing her test, and offers them a proposition: work together to take down Overwatch. Oxton accepted, and was given the red scarf she stole from the fire in Lijiang.
