Orchid Rose is one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside Night Shade) of Season 1 of the Father & Son series of Animator vs. Animation fanfics.
She is Purple's mother who has died years before the events of the series. Resurrected by her ex-husband Navy and his brother Night Shade, she helps them in his goals before eventually redeeming herself to save her son. However, following her second death, Night Shade would once again revive her as a brainwashed, all-powerful villain aiding him and her husband.

Orchid served as a posthumous character in the original Father & Son, the secondary antagonist of Father & Son 2: Tidal Waves, Father & Son 4: A Family Curse and King Of This Kingdom: Father & Son 8, a major protagonist in Apart But Together: Father & Son 3, the main antagonist of Father & Son 5: Shards Of A Color Drained World, a major antagonist in Father & Son 6: Shades of Future Night, and a minor character in The Great Above: Father & Son 7.
She would then serve as a posthumous protagonist for the rest of the series.

Backstory[]
Like in canon, Orchid was Navy's wife and Purple's mother, who eventually divorced her husband once he started getting abusive towards her and their son, before dying of what seemed to be an illness.
Father & Son[]
Orchid is occasionally mentioned in passing, and how she was a better parent than Navy, but ultimately still died before getting to see Purple grow into a better person.
Father & Son 2: Tidal Waves[]
Just as Navy tells the heroes he's planning to kill Purple, a mysterious figure appears on ALANSPC, one the heroes soon realise is Orchid. Via looking at her code, they realise she's being controlled by Navy, and she suddenly disappears while leaving a pack of ViraBots behind.
Orchid doesn't return until a lot later, where Purple and the other heroes break into Navy's base to confront his parents. During the confrontation, Purple is re-brainwashed into serving Navy and Orchid shows joy at it before Navy teleports away, Orchid not being seen for the rest of the fic.
Alone But Together: Father & Son 3[]
Orchid returns, suddenly redeemed, busted out Second and Dark from their imprisonment and assist in taking down Navy, who's been plotting to make Purple a mindless slave lacking emotion. Later on, she disappears suddenly just to appear behind King and the remaining heroes, claiming she can help them in rescuing Purple, bringing up the idea of memory-hopping: Having King enter Purple's memories to free him from the amnesia Navy put him through. Once this plan works, she then helps Purple enter Navy's memories to take him down from the inside.
Later on, when Navy seemingly kills Purple, Orchid appears to battle him. When he is briefly knocked out, she seemingly sacrifices herself to somehow resurrect Second, Dark and Purple, all of whom died in battle. Her death would be avenged when Navy is killed by Purple.
Father & Son 4: A Family Curse[]
It's revealed that, during Purple's childhood, Orchid told him a story about her life she masqueraded as a fairytale: When her parents married, an elderly man warned them that their child would be cursed with incredible power, which would come true when she started growing up. When she married Navy, the man announced the powers would be passed down to their future child, Orchid teasing Purple on whether or not he possesses those powers now. Now, Purple suddenly has a dream where Orchid's spirit warns him that the curse from that story is real and coming for him.
Later on, Orchid is resurrected by Navy's vengeful ghost, who reveals he created the Curse and used it to kill her. Before she can attack anyone, Dark attacks her and sends her flying away. Later on, when Dark busts into the temple where Navy's body resides to kill him, Orchid ambushes and attacks him, but is forced to escape when Chosen and Purple come rescue him. It's revealed that not only did Orchid resurrect Second, Purple and Dark using small remnants of her powers, but that she's twice as strong as Navy himself and could control Purple if they share powers. When she comes back, Chosen and Purple fight her together while Dark goes to stop Navy. During the fight, Chosen theorizes that Navy could be somehow behind Orchid due to her having some of the Ribbon family's blood in her. The two manage to briefly get away from her, but she manages to gain enough strength over Purple's powers to make him succumb to his insecurities and join his side, but King and Chosen's efforts combined manage to free him. However, Navy and Orchid just kidnap Purple and Chosen.
While Dark manages to arrive and free Chosen, Purple confronts Navy and Orchid in battle, ending with Navy's death. However, Orchid barely survives and begins her revenge against the heroes, the fic ending with blue-and-pink particles appearing on ALANSPC as the Outernet's sky turns red, Orchid's voice taunting Purple in his head.
Father & Son 5: A Color Drained World[]
Orchid quickly begins her apocalypse using the Curse, draining color from everything and turning it a dull gray as pillars emerge from the ground, and anyone caught in the grayness freezes with PCs shutting down, preventing the heroes from going back to ALANSPC. Most of them manage to regroup far away from the Curse/Gray Death, but Purple, Dark and Chosen confront Orchid. She claims Purple has brought nothing but shame to the family name and it's his fault that Navy abandoned them, but the main group of good guys manages to save the three from her. Far away from Stick City, they realise Orchid has already drained all life from it and plans to do the same to the entire Outernet.
As the heroes all argue about their plans, Purple decides to take on Orchid by himself due to no one else agreeing on a plan. However, before he does, he suddenly has a vision of Navy and Orchid talking to a man named Night Shade, who claimed Purple's powers will be too powerful to control, potentially leading to his death, and they need to be kept secret from him, to which they agree; it's later revealed that Night Shade has been working with Navy all along, and now is helping Orchid resurrect him and brainwash Purple into a memory-lacking pawn.
Soon enough, Orchid and Night Shade invade ALANSPC together and begin fighting the heroes to get Purple. Orchid eventually has to escape, with Second, Dark, and Purple following her out of the PC while the rest confront Night Shade, who manages to kill Chosen and Yellow using the Curse. The three that escaped eventually find Orchid's base, where they find her with a laser which she'll use to kill all life in the Outernet. They ambush and attack her, but Purple tries to make a deal, where he gives himself in so that King and the others can be resurrected and kept safe. As Orchid falls for it, it's revealed the deal was a trick used to get her in a vulnerable position.
As Dark and Second throw the laser off the rooftop of her base, Purple threatens to kill Orchid if she doesn't resurrect his friends. She agrees to bring them back as long as Dark and Purple give away their powers, and they hesitatingly agree. Thankfully, Second manages to break them out and the three fight Orchid again. She manages to infect them with the Gray Death Curse, although it merely drains their colors instead of killing them, and Second finds the shards of a crown Orchid plans to wear, the trio setting off to find the rest.
Orchid ambushes the three just as they find the remaining shards of the crown. As they realise Orchid is too strong to defeat and they're about to lose, she gives Purple an offer: He gives up his power, and his friends will be spared. He hesitatingly agrees, and she immediately attacks all three, sending them into the void. Thankfully, they manage to return from it, and continue fighting her, though without Purple's powers. Purple connects the crown with the missing shard, causing it to shine a bright gold color, and then a purple one. He then attacks Orchid, somehow possessing the Dual Block Staff for unexplained reasons. In the following battle, the combined efforts of Purple's blast and Second's fireballs apparently manage to kill Orchid, as the world's color was coming back.
Later on, Night Shade finds Orchid's barely alive body and puts her in a submersion tank next to Navy, plotting to bring both of them back.
Father & Son 6: Shades of Future Night[]
Somehow brought back by Night Shade, Navy and Orchid reside in the "Great Above", having yet again kidnapped Purple to brainwash him. When the kidnapped Purple and Red try to escape their base alongside the spy Willow, Orchid and Night Shade confront them, the former trying to brainwash Purple but the latter stopping her so Navy could to the honors. However, when the Color Gang and Chosen bust in to help them, they decide to skip it and brainwash Purple already, teleporting away before the others can catch them.
At the end of the fic, Navy finally opens the portal to the Great Above; a whole new dimension that he wants to conquer. He, Orchid and Night Shade enter it together, managing to capture Purple, Willow and Sunny with them, alongside dozens of innocent citizens.
The Great Above: Father & Son 7[]
Orchid serves as Navy's queen in his kingdom in the Great Above, with Purple as their prince. Night Shade is working and creating a project for them, one that will apparently let them take over the entirety of both the Great Above and the Outernet. Following her first scene, she's never mentioned again.
King Of This Kingdom: Father & Son 8[]
Orchid is mentioned to have completely disappeared following a brainwashed Purple's takeover of the kingdom at the end of the previous entry. It's also revealed that Orchid had an affair with Night Shade that resulted in Purple having a younger sister named Amethyst.
Orchid eventually encounters Gold alongside several of his friends, including Amethyst. Off-screen, they battle, and she's not brought up again until the final chapter where the heroes decide to distract her so Purple can have an easier time killing Navy. She tries to use her color-draining powers on them again, and manages to kill almost everyone. By the time she's done, only Chosen, Dark, Second and Purple remain alive. As they're imprisoned, they remind themselves that Orchid was brainwashed by Navy into her acts, and come up with a plan; Purple frees Orchid from her brainwashing, makes her bring back those that she killed, and then they battle Navy and his ViraBot army.
However, even when Chosen and Purple have Orchid pinned down, they realise something: If Yellow's theory was correct, brainwashed people only recognize the voices of those close to them, and Purple hadn't had a good conversation with Purple for years, meaning that she can be only killed. However, Purple found the same crown he used to battle Orchid in part 5. Somehow, via unexplained reasons, he manages to free Orchid from her brainwashing using it. She turns against Navy and resurrects all those that she killed, but once again at the cost of her own life, finally doing a good deed after spending months Navy's brainwashed puppet.
Father & Son 9: A Reversed Victory[]
While Orchid herself stays dead, an alternate universe variant serves as the main antagonist.
Father & Son 10: In Betweens To A Winning Battle[]
Orchid is seen one last time in flashbacks to Purple's childhood; the day Navy abandoned her and Purple, and the day she died.
