Papyrus Deltarune, better known as the Roaring Knight and/or "Rory Nyte", is the main antagonist of Topaz Plays' Deltarune Chapter 5 parody animations.
He is the version of Papyrus from the Deltarune universe who, after the version of his brother Sans from his universe was "murdered" and replaced by the Undertale universe's Sans, became incredibly depressed and vengeful, secretly despising his fake brother. At some point, he somehow became the Roaring Knight/Rory Nyte and, deciding it wasn't worth living in a world without his real brother, decided to unleash the Roaring and destroy the world out of nihilistic grief. He is the younger brother of the Sans Deltarune, the archenemy of Sans Undertale and the "Fun Gang" (Kris, Susie and Ralsei/Asriel), and supposedly the "secret cousin" of Noelle Holiday.
He is voiced by traumatized edgeworth.
Personality[]
In sharp contrast to both Papyrus and the Knight's original counterparts, the former being optimistic and eccentric while the latter (currently) being completely enigmatic, this combined version of them is rather depressed, angry and vengeful, likely due to his tragedy. He genuinely thinks that everything is now meaningless due to losing his brother, and tries unleashing the Roaring and destroying the world because of his nihilism. However, Papyrus is also shown to be sympathetic, he genuinely cared for his brother and was deeply disturbed by his death.

Backstory[]

At some unknown point in the timeline, a duo of skeleton brothers moved into Hometown: Sans and Papyrus Deltarune. Not much is known about their lives, but they seemed to have loved each other. It's possible Papyrus wasn't very well-liked in Hometown, given he states he "wanted to love someone", implying that his brother was the only person who actually liked him. However, their happiness would eventually end when Sans Undertale, an alternate version of Sans from the Undertale universe, would abandoned his original universe to escape from the Undertale Human's genocides. Sans Undertale would "kill" Sans Deltarune and take his place. However, Papyrus was watching by the top of the stairs, watching his own brother "die" in front of his eyes.
This event would traumatized Papyrus, leaving him with no loved ones. Papyrus would become despondent and nihilistic, he decided that the world was basically meaningless without his brother, and wanted to destroy it all out of grief. He would somehow become the Roaring Knight and start planning on unleashing the Roaring, which would destroy the world. At some point, he would seemingly befriended the Holiday family and became the "secret cousin" of their youngest daughter Noelle, under the rather unsubtle fake alias of "Rory Nyte".

In the first animation "Roaring Knight Kills Asriel", after Ralsei reveals he is actually Kris' borther Asriel (or, 'ralsei dreermu') and that he "genocided" their mother Toriel to stop Sans from befriending her, the Roaring Knight appears immediately and slashes him, killing him. The Knight starts a battle with Kris, as the textbox says "It's the end", the two have a similar battle to that of Chapter 3 before Kris jumps at them headfirst and spins at them, which slashes them, but doesn't kill them. The Knight runs away.
In the second animation "Roaring Knight's Identity Revealed", Kris is forced by The Undertale Human to see their friend Noelle Holiday. At Noelle's house, Susie and Sans are already there and are preparing to meet Noelle's "secret cousin" as Kris joins. Noelle reveals her "secret cousin" is really "Rory Nyte", who is clearly just the Roaring Knight. Susie catches on to the Knight's ruse and them to reveal themselves, and it's revealed the Knight was Papyrus, Sans' (supposed) brother, while the cast (besides Noelle) is in pure shock, Sans specifically is horrified by this reveal. Then, in the third animation "Roaring Knight's Backstory Revealed", we see Sans telling Papyrus that they were "supposed to be in this togehter". However, a mad Papyrus yells him and tells him to shut up, he reveals he knows Sans isn't his real brother, and he is actually "Sans Undertale", the Sans from the Undertale universe, and not "the Sans Deltarune", the Sans from his universe.
Papyrus retells us the same backstory from above, and after he finishes, he proceeds to run into the Flower King and attempt to open a dark fountain, as Kris, Susie and Sans chase him, while Noelle stays behind in confusion. We see Rory Nyte and Sans enter the Flower King. As the fourth and final animation "Flower King Dark World Reveal", the Knight succesfully opened another fountain, as Kris and Susie enter it and have a fight with Flowey/"Wofley the Flowery Boy". We also get the reveal that the Sans Deltarune is somehow still alive.

- If it wasn't obvious, the twist that Papyrus is the Knight is a dig at the infamous Papyrus!Knight theory (example). A formerly well-believed theory in the community that is now mostly "believed" as joke.
- It's unknown how Papyrus found out Sans Undertale's backstory.
- While probably unintentional, Papyrus serves as a dark parrarel to Sans Undertale: Both suffered a similar tragedy of losing someone they loved (Papyrus list his brother, while Sans lost his whole race), but while Sans only killed 1 person and ultimately tried to move on, Papyrus is actively trying to kill billions to satisfy hia grief.
