The Phone Guy is the unseen overarching antagonist of Five Nights at Ronald's. He was a security guard at McDonald's that had a son and had to work there to get his son treatments as well as helping John Hilbert to survive. However, he then got mad at society due to not being able to get enough money for his son's treatments due to McDonald's firing him, causing him to die. This then led him into most likely committing a mass shooting at McDonald's.

He was a security guard on McDonald's that had a son.

Five Nights at McDonald's[]

Night 1[]

He first calls John hilbert and tells him about how to survive, but also talks about the last security guard that was angry with the manager due to firing him and shot everyone in the place. He then tells him about the animatronics, lights, door, and some other things about how to survive.

Post-Night 1[]

His son got sick and had to go to the hospital.

Night 2[]

He calls John again and tells him that since the animatronics become more active as the nights progress, he has to become more active too. He also tells him that he doesn't have much time left as his son is in the hospital.

Post-Night 2[]

His son got an infection, and he didn't have enough money for the treatments.

Night 3[]

He calls John yet again and tells him about his son and his struggle for money. As usual, he tells him about more instructions on how to survive the night.

Post-Night 3[]

His son died due to him not getting enough money for the treatments as he got fired.

Night 4[]

He calls John for one lasty time, but this time, he doesn't give him any instructions on how to survive the night. Instead, he goes on a rant on society on how they only cared about themselves and that it had a chance that they took away.

Post-Night 4[]

He doesn't call John in Night 5 but at the ending cutscene, there is a check with the name "John Hilbert", a photo of a father and his son, and a gun, most likely meaning that he is the security guard that shot up McDonald's he mentioned in Night 1 and that he wasn't real all along but he's also going to make his crimes real. It's also possible that he made his victims into animatronics as there were 6 animatronics in the main game and he had 6 victims.

Appearance[]

He is never seen in the game, but in a drawing, he is depicted as a white faceless stick figure wearing blue long pants, brown shoes, and a blue hat with a badge.

Personality[]

He was a man that cared about his son, and he worked as a security guard to pay for his treatments. However, after his son died due to not being able to get the treatments due to being fired, he became mad at McDonald's and society as a whole.

Trivia[]

He was most likely inspired by the real-life James Huberty who committed the San Ysidro McDonald's Massacre:
- Both were security guards before being fired.
- Both shot up McDonald's.
- Both said, "society had its chance!".
- There can be sounds of babies and women crying throughout the game, hinting that just like James Huberty, the Phone Guy murdered women and even babies.
- Both used the same weapon.
