Player2 is the main antagonist of the 2022 Undertale Creepypasta series, Gonerdweller.

They are a mysterious entity that lurks inside of a copy of Undertale that the player pirated, appearing to be some sort of sadistic yet curious entity who enjoyed tormenting the player and corrupting monsters. While their motives aren't completely known yet, they appear to be collecting the pieces of the souls of the victims the player killed during their twisted mercy run for their goals.

Biography[]

While very little is known about Player2's past, lines of dialogue state they were once a vessel for something, though unclear of what.

Player2 first appears at the end of the Ruins, immediately after Frisk/the player accidentally kills Toriel, standing where Flowey usually would. They cackle at them, likely for what they had just done, and then vanish.

Sometime afterward, when they player reached Snowdin, it appeared that Player2 had left a present for them underneath the Christmas tree, swapping Papyrus's gift with it, labeling it "Chara". The player would encounter Player2 again at the end of Snowdin, standing in the fog. They appear to be fascinated with the player, considering that they still continued playing the game even after their killing several monsters, telling them that no matter what they did, their ending would hardly change and that everyone would die, including the player themself.

They would then reveal to the player that they made sure that Papyrus was "safe" and had been escorted where nobody else could harm him. The screen would immediately go to static and flash red, showing Papyrus floating above a hand. Player2 would then tell the player to shut of the game, telling them there was truthfully nothing left for them there. They would then leap at Frisk, only to then fade away.

After the player is teleported into a isolated room in Waterfall filled with Echo Flowers, they hear Player2 talking to themself through the flowers. They state that they should continue letting the player strike down multiple other monsters across the game, and with that, their goal becomes closer. They have been collecting bits the monsters' souls after the player struck them down, using them to become "stronger". It would also turn out that Player2 was just using them as a test subject, curious of how they would react to their surroundings.

Player2 would later be seen in Hotland, watching as the player outrunned a slowly disintegrating Undyne. After Undyne lunged at Frisk, she would begin to hang for her life from the bridge, holding herself from falling into the lava below. Player2 would appear behind Frisk and begin to encourage the player to kill her, encouraging them "to end her suffering." When the player tried to leave, Player2 would block them and prevent them from sparing Undyne, telling them that there was no way out of this. After this, the player would try quitting the game, but they failed. With no choice, the player would kill Undyne, giving Player2 another soul to collect.

Sometime later, Player2 would watch as Mettaton was destroyed, mocking him as his body crumbled and his soul was shattered. The Core would soon begin to breakdown, leading to Frisk/the player and Alphys escaping through the elevator. However, Player2 would continue to follow them, standing behind them. Eventually, the elevator would come to a stop, but before the player could get off the elevator, Player2 grabs Frisk and forces the player to pick between two things to say to Alphys. The player chooses the option to tell Alphys there is hope, with her responding by saying that they were meaningful words but that they would have meant more if they came from Undyne. After she leaves, Player2 lets Frisk go and vanishes once again.

Player2 would go on to state that it would be impossible to kill Alphys due to the fact that she was never given a proper battle script, though they would immediately have a hypothesis. They would tell the player to continue while they "mend the pieces", telling them their purpose was soon coming and that this "playground" would soon be theirs.

Personality[]

Player2 is a incredibly sadistic being who seems to enjoy taunting the player and suffering around them. When Frisk/the player sees them for the first time, they seemingly began laughing at them for killing Toriel. They also seem to know that the player seems to fear them, referring to themself as their "unwelcome friend." When Undyne was vulnerable, Player2 would begin to encourage the player to kill her, preventing them from leaving and quitting the game, further showcasing Player2's truly heartless and sadistic nature. When Mettaton falls apart, Player mocks him by calling him a doll who fell apart in the hands of a child and begins mocking him for not staying with his cousin on their farm.

They also appear to be incredibly curious about many things, wondering why the player continues playing the game despite the fact that they have tainted their hands with blood, though he truthfully doesn't seem to really care. Given their lines through the Echo Flower, it is made pretty clear they just view the player as a test subject who is just helping their goal and nothing more. When Player2 saw Undyne slowly begin to turn to dust, they showed facisination in how her body was slowly disintegrating from cultural shock, only to then immediately show disappointment.

Through the Echo Flowers, it is stated that they had felt incredibly empty for so long until they began taking bits of monsters' shattered souls, making them feel "stronger" and that it made them no longer feel like a vessel. Instead, it would lead to Player2 feeling what the deceased monsters had felt, which they would find irritating, telling the monsters to stop.

Despite tormenting the player on several times, Player2 does seem to actually need them for a reason, most likely their ultimate goal.

Appearance[]

Player2 appears to be a tall humanoid with a white face (confirmed to be a mask thanks to official art), usually half of it is covered by shadow though. Their arms also appear to be incredibly long, considering how far they stretched when they grabbed Frisk. They wear what appears to be a gray cloak with a hood, gray boats, and white gloves.

Trivia[]

When Player2 teleports away in The Ruins Ending, the same sound effect that is played when Gaster's followers teleport in the original game is heard. Whether or not Player2 has any Gaster connection is currently unknown, however.
Interestingly, unlike all characters in Undertale, no asterisk appears before Player2's lines of dialogue.
It is heavily suggested that Player2 may have drowned Papyrus in Waterfall, given they mention Papyrus was placed "underneath the aquatic depths", not to mention the entire fact that he is then seen floating.
