| “ | Primal: Security. Powerful sticks have always known what terrors can be wrought between this world and those adjacent to it. Now civilians know it too, and they will want answers. They will want accountability and transparency, and may demand it if unappeased. The powerful believe they can quell their fears, or stoke them, according to their interests. And they are probably right. But before even trying, they will seek out fail-safes. Us. Striker: And if they know what role we played in all that? Primal: Most won't. But for the ones who do, the knowledge will serve as a testament to our capabilities, rather than a condemnation. We represented a great deal of Victim’s power, and much of what he accomplished was accomplished through us. Many will desire command of such a group, for ends of their own. There is more to gain by putting us to use than putting us away. |

| ~ Primal about the new opportunities that have opened up following Victim's defeat. |
Primal is a major antagonist in the Animator vs. Animation fanfiction They're Sticks, Probably by HakureiRyuu.
She is a member of the mercenary team hired by Victim to help in his plans of revenge against Alan Becker. Primal is a simple but dangerous, attacking and going for the kill with anyone she fights.
Appearance[]
Like in canon, Primal is a brown, tall, swirling stick figure resembling a cave drawing.
History[]
Backstory[]
Primal's backstory is unknown besides her being a mercenary working alongside Striker, Ballista and Hazard, the four working both for executives and doing bounty hunting. Shortly before the events of the story, she and her teammates were hired by Victim to help in his plans.
They're Sticks, Probably[]
While not mentioned by name, Primal and her teammates first appear when they chase the Chosen One throughout the city, ultimately losing him when he escapes into Alex's PC. She later breaks into Alan's PC on Striker's orders, where she finds the Stick Gang and Alan himself. She attacks his cursor, resulting in a fight with both him and the Stick Gang where she injures the cursor while also destroying the start menu. The battle ends when Blue throws a Splash Potion of Weakness at her, injuring her. As Alan prepares to write a command that kills her, she quickly escapes out of the PC.
Off-screen, Primal reports to victim that she had been to Alan's PC. Later on, she spots Red and Yellow masquerading as two workers on the cameras, and alongside Striker comes in to capture and imprison them. When the remaining heroes spawn a Wither to distract the employees while they rescue the prisoners, Primal appears to battle the Wither. She manages to kill it, also injuring Red in the process (who was trying to control the beast), before confronting Blue in combat. Off-screen, Primal is told to back off on Striker's orders, which she does, allowing the blue stick figure to leave. Later on, after Victim lets all the mercenaries go after paying them, Primal, Striker and Ballista confront the heroes in the woods to ask for Hazard's location; upon being given an answer, they proceed to leave and wait until he returns.
After Hazard is freed and Victim is defeated, the Mercenaries all regroup and think about the new opportunities. As Ballista proposes smuggling, Primal claims the better idea is to work as security for rich, powerful stick figures that would know about the mercs' reputations and seek to have them on their sides, on top of calming down the masses in the outrage caused by Victim's actions. All the mercs agree to the plan, even if Hazard finds it boring, and ultimately decide to split up until things quiet down.
Personality[]
Primal hasn't received a lot of personality due to her limited screentime, but she appears to be serious and focused on completing the tasks she was given, as well as brutal during fights. The epilogue expands more on her: She is very wise due to her old age, and knows opportunities to get more money. She seemingly prefers staying outdoors in sheer contrast to Hazard, and unlike the other mercenaries, seems to enjoy Ballista's hyperactiveveness.
