Princess Zelda is the main antagonist of the Zelda fanfic The Legend of Zelda: The Fall of Hyrule.
Biography[]
The goddess had deemed it necessary for Ganondorf to be stripped of the Triforce of Power. However, as each triforce needed a host, it was decided to give the Triforce of Power to Zelda while Ganondorf is given the Triforce of Wisdom.
With this, Zelda grew up to be a rather bratty princess who wants things done her way. Most people in the kingdom fear her. However, they also have faith that she would grow out of this behavior and become a benevolent ruler like her father.
However, Zelda doesn't want to wait to become of age to ascend the throne and plots to have her father killed so that she could ascend early. To pull this off, she gets to palace guards to hire a bodyguard for her. This bodyguard was Link. With Link at her side, she orders the boy to kill her father, threatening him with death if he doesn't.
Scared for his life, Link reluctantly complies, shooting the king with poison arrows given to him by Zelda. However, Zelda proved to be dishonest as she goes back on her word to protect him and instead tells the guards that he was the one who killed her father.
With the king dead, Zelda was now queen of Hyrule. However, she still wasn't satisfied. She wanted the entire world to kneel before her in fear and agony and began plotting to acquire the remaining pieces of the Triforce.
Meanwhile, Link teamed up with Ganondorf to stop Zelda in her plan of conquest. Zelda soon realizes they hold the triforce pieces and confronts them when they arrive at the castle. She attempts to break Link by using the fact he kills her father against him, but Ganondorf snaps him out of it up until Zelda stabs him. Angered, Link strikes Zelda and seals her away, avenging Ganondorf. The sages determine Zelda to be even worse of a host for the Triforce of Power and promptly swap the pieces back before releasing her once more.
With no memory of her actions, Zelda begins to become a more benevolent ruler for Hyrule with Link by her side to keep an eye on her. She eventually remembers everything and expresses heavy guilt over her past actions. She and Link eventually got married.
