William "Vincent" Afton (also known as Purple Guy) is the main antagonist of Sky the Nightguard's "Five Nights at Freddy's: The New Nightguard" FNaF fan-animated series, as well as the reoccuring & prominent character in other FNaF animations by the same creator.
Similarly to his original FNaF counterpart, Vincent is a dayshift employee & lead technician at FazBear Entertainment's establishments, who is also secretly a serial child murderer, responsible for disappearance of 6 kids at Freddy FazBear's Pizza, & animatronics' paranormal & hostile behavior at night. He also was a former CEO/co-owner of FredBear's Family Diner & Circus Baby's Pizza World, along with his former best friend & business partner—Henry Emily, whose vengeful spirit has possessed William & forced him to do what he did.

Appearance[]
In his most common appearance, "Vincent" is portraited in the similar way lots of other people used to draw the original Purple Guy back in the time—a young(at least he looks pretty young) man with violet/purple skin & hair, combed in ponytail by red scrunchy, white glowing eyes with no pupils, and black mouth with white teeth(rows of which seems to be unseparable at first glance, but thats only when he doesn't speak) & red tongue. He also wears a purple shirt, black trousers & shoes, & sometimes can be seen with a yellow security guard badge on his chest.
When Henry takes control over him, his eyes either just turn completely black, or black with white glowing pupils. Also, sometimes he can be seen having a wide black grin with no teeth during that.
Back when he wasn't possessed at all, William looked pretty much the same, but more like a normal human. Instead of being purple, his skin was just tan, & his hair was just brown. Also, his eyeballs weren't glowing, & actually had a normal pupils, with grey iris.
Personality[]
Unlike his original counterpart, who always was a monster, from the very start to the very end, this William wasn't always like that. Originally, he was just a workaholic father, who truly loved & cared about his children, yet still could be a bit irresponsible. Along with that, his friendship with Henry was actually geniune, as Henry was (probably) the first person in William's life who really respected & supported him. It's also can be assumed that back in the school days, William was pretty lonely & depressed kid, who got constantly bullied by his peers, with Henry being his first & only friend. Also, in some of MEME animations about him, it's shown that besides the bullying from the other kids, he also used to be abused by his own parents(especially mother).
But once he saw Elizabeth, his own daughter, getting killed by Circus Baby—one of Henry's creations, William's mind just snapped. He couldn't believe that his so-called "best friend" was actually a sick, heartless & sadistic maniac. Under unknown circumstances, he was responsible for Henry's death inside of spare SpringBonnie suit, leading his ghost, now known as "Shadow Bonnie", to possess & take control over William's body & mind, as well as manipulate & force him to do a horrible things. Although, it's uncertain if William(or should we now say, "Vincent") completely wasn't in control of himself, or Henry's influence just started to slowly corrupt him & his moral agency.
For example, when Terrence(William's oldest son) decided to prank his little brother by shoving his head into FredBear's mouth, leading the said brother to lose his frontal lob & die, Vincent was stated to be so mad at him, that he straight up KILLED Terrence for that. It is hard to say if he really did it purely out of his own rage, or if it was Henry who forced him to do that(in fact, it's even possible that both of the variants are correct at the same time, with Henry just taking advantage of the situation & using his "possesion victim"'s grieve just to satisfy his sick pleasure). But in anyway, it's shown that he actually hates himself, & geniunly feels sorry for everything he done(especially for murdering Terrence, as after Sky brought it up, Vincent just ran away in his office, with no wish to even talk about it). In fact, even when Sky tried to comfort him, he still just couldn't forgive himself, seeing himself as an irredeemable monster.
Biography[]
Five Nights at Freddy's: The New Nightguard[]
NOTE: Out of pure simplicity, this article will just describe his appearances in the order they were presented in the series, or on the channel itself.
"Secrets" (Episode 1)[]
In the first episode, Vincent's role is rather minor, but he is still very prominent. During the Mike & Jeremy's nightshift, he secretly sneaks inside of Parts/Service room, & activates all of the Withered Animatronics, making them all hostile. Before leaving, he(or rather Henry, speaking through him) was teasing them, saying that "they can kill those nightguards all they want, but they will never be able to get him".
Hopefully for Mike & Jeremy though, the night has ended pretty fast. When they were already about to leave, they met Fritz, who wanted to introduce the new friend & co-worker to them. That new employee was Sky, & on the next night, she will be the one to watch after the place at night.
Near the end of her shift, she wanted to investigate the Parts/Service room, in order to understand why the robots are so hostile. But she heard some noice from the distance, & didn't even noticed how Withered Bonnie grabbed her leg & pulled inside of the room. After awakening, Sky finds herself being "tied up", & also encounters Withered Freddy, who hopefully wasn't agressive, surprisingly. Freddy tells her that they are all possessed by the restless spirits of 6 murdered children, & that their killer is still somewhere around, so Sky needs to be careful. Yet, he wasnt able to tell WHO is the killer, as it was already 6 AM, & he turned off.
Few seconds later, Vincent enters the room again, & finds Sky "tied up".
"Who's the Killer?" (Episode 2)[]
The episode starts right where the previous one ended. Vincent is confused, & asking what on Earth is she doing here. She tells that it were animatronics who captured her & tied her up. "They tied you up? Animatronics can't knot, y'know" — he says on that. And that really turns out to be true—there was no knot, so Sky easily takes the rope off. Vincent also tells that its already 6 AM, and its better for her to return into the office, or else the company will report her as dead. Before going, Sky asked him what is his name, & thats when he introduces himself for the first time in the series.
Later that day, after a brief talk with Mike & Jeremy(where its also revealed that Sky is Jeremy's long lost sister), she meets Scott—the (assumably) higher-up manager of Freddy's. She tells about what happened on her first night, & about the old animatronics being agressive, and so he promises that their mechanic, who just happens to be Vincent, will try to do something with it. Sky, however, says that she can help by herself, as she also has skills in robotics. Scott allows her to try.
Little did Scott know that Sky actually just needed an excuse to spend more time with those robots. She wanted to ask these poor little kids if they have any information she can use to help them find their peace. Freddy's spirit appears again, & "possesses" Sky, showing her one of his flashbacks. Turns out it was Vincent who killed them all! "Freddy" also tells her that first 5 corpses were stuffed right into the animatronics' suits, which gave them a horrible scent, & lead Vincent to be scared of getting caught, throw all of the old robots in the Parts/Service room, & replace them by a brand-new Toy Animatronics. The reason they are so hostile at night is because they can barely control themselves, & are seeing all adults as their murderer.
Speaking of the Toys—before Toy Foxy/Mangle we all know & love was created, Vincent made another "Toy" counterpart of Foxy, named "Yuki". Unfortunately though, she was never used, as she was very laggy & unstable, turning off almost every few seconds. Because of that, she was just thrown into Parts/Service room as well, letting the spirit of the 6th child—a girl named Annie, whose corpse was just locked into the secret room behind the wall, to possess her. For unsaid reasons, Annie/Yuki seems to be the most agressive & hostile of them all, to the point she attacks Sky after she refuses to answer where Vincent is. Hopefully, her horrible condition failed her again, letting Sky to run away.

Trivia[]
- His nickname "Vincent", as well as his whole design & some other traits, were clearly based off "Vincent Bishop" from Rebornica's FNaF AU. Thats not really surprising though—back in the day, Rebornica's AU & designs used to be a base for a LOT of other FNaF AUs, to the point that some people just used "Vincent" to reffer to OG Purple Guy in general, as there was no confirmed name back then(some people even mistakenly assumed it was his real official name at some point).
- Mike & Fritz' designs(+maybe Jeremy's too) were also based off Rebornica's designs for them. Scott's design though, on the other hand, was instead rather based on Pole-Bear's Phone Guy, even though the name itself still may either be a refference to Rebornica's "Scott Watson", or just to the fact FNaF 1-3 Phone Guy was voiced by Scott Cawthon—creator of FNaF itself.
- Along with that, his normal state seems to be based off the way OG William looks in Night 5 mini-game in original FNaF 3(in that mini-game, he also had a fully white glowing eyes when he was scared, or when he was running to SpringBonnie suit), while his possessed state ressembles his more reoccuring designs(example: his sprites in other FNaF 3 mini-games, or his FNaF 2 "SAVE THEM" mini-game sprite).
- His name & design also could be a refference to Vincent Cawthon from Goldbox' AU. Especially this can be possible, as the designs of MCI kids possessing Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, Foxy & FredBear/Golden Freddy are clearly based off Goldbox' "Frederick", "Brandy", "Oliv", "Bart" & "Alfred" respectively.
- His sons' names being "Terrence" & "Chris" can also be refference to "Five Nights at Freddy's: Hidden Lore" series, where FNaF 4 Crying Child & his brother had the exact same names.
- Also, Chris' nickname "Kenny" can be a refference to Crying Child from Goldbox' AU, who also was called "Kenny"(at least at some point).
- Unfortunately, it's hard to really say why William's skin & hair became purple after murdering Henry, as well as why his pupils just disappeared. It's definitly not just a stylistic choice, as the characters in-universely see him like that, & even reffers to him as "The Purple Guy". The best explanation is that it's just the result of Henry's soul possessing him.
- Yet, due to a fact that FNaF: SL(or at least Baby & Elizabeth) are canon to this AU, & Vincent has some weird bloody bandages all over his body(at least we see one on his wrist in Episode 8, & it's also mentioned by James in Episode 7), it's can be assumed that at some point, William just came through what Michael Afton in the original game came through, with him getting murdered & worn as a disguise by Ennard, & turning into rotting purple corpse. That could also explain why despite already being an adult in 1983, he literally didn't aged in the slightest.
- The main problem with this theory is that it would be a bit weird for creator to make William as the protagonist of FNaF: SL in their AU, when along with entire "FNaF: SL Protagonist=Purple Guy" plot twist, it was already established that it was William's son who we play as in this game, not William himself. Not to mention that James mentions the bandages being bloody, with blood simingly being fresh. Corpses can't bleed, meaning Vincent is probably still a living person. Him still looking young can be explained as either a plot hole, or just an artistic choice.

- A lot of fans used to ship Sky & Vincent back in the day, even though William already was an adult in 1983(+he even already had a children at that time), & Sky was still a child when The Bite of 87 happened, meaning she's way more younger than him. Even the creator herself confirmed that Sky & Vincent are canonically NOT a couple, & are just friends(in "Sky & Jeremy's Birthday" video's Q&A section, Sky & Vincent even got a bit annoyed after getting asked about this ship).
- According to Sky the Nightguard herself, the reason series never got a proper ending is because she lost any motivation on continuing it, for various reasons. One of them is that she just no longer likes this series anymore, as it's "cringy, edgy, & doesn't make any sense"(+her fans were just very toxic & impatient).
