The Remnants of Despair are major antagonists in the recently polished fanfic "The Watch of Despair," remaining loyal followers of Junko Enoshima willing to once again succumb the world to despair.
They are a small group of people who allowed themselves to be embraced by despair, vowing that it would return and definitively crush hope and everything they believed in, some less reckless than others.
Biography[]
Beginning[]
Their story remains the same as the canon with just one difference, on the side of those outside of the class-77, almost all of them were students in Kibougamine's reserve course, feeling inferior to those in the main course, going on strike after discovering Izuru Kamukura's existence and how their money was being used, allowing themselves to be manipulated by Junko into starting the final revolt, although most of them committed suicide because of Junko's despair video, not all of them got to see it and those few are the ones who were in charge of spreading the despair, a few more also surviving the war against the Future Foundation, living in hiding when despair was apparently defeated by hope.
Halfway back[]
As mentioned above, it's revealed that there are actually still remnants lingering in this timeline, and it was only a matter of time before they returned to their old ways. One of them is revealed in none other than Springdale, during the ceremony for the new Hope apprentices (Nathan Adams, Hailey Anne, Katie Forester, Bear, Eddie, Isabel, Chloe, Sydney, Jessica, and Lucas), warning that despair will always return. Although she is eventually stopped with the help of Nidai and Blazion, it is known that she is not the only one standing, causing Kibougamine to take high security measures, at first these are hidden and do not cause too much activity, but as progress progresses it is revealed that they were only waiting for the right moment to act, as shown in a meeting where they discuss what to do, while some say they should act by resurrecting Junko and returning Despair at once, the main one says that they must be smart because if they act at once, they will only be captured by the foundation as happened to the one in Springdale and they must wait for the return of Monaca Towa to use the Monokumas that took her from space to recreate the inactive modems, steal the technology used to resurrect those who died during the tragedy using them to revive Junko Enoshima, the ultimate despair, with the help of the rebuilt Monokumas, the main one of the vestiges of despair informs her about the program of hope to enoshima, the keneshi kamukura project, the yo-kai watches and mukuro's attempted redemption, planning with her the infiltration to threaten the scientists to cooperate with keneshi kamukura, once the list of volunteers is obtained they first opt for hailey anne now starting the plan to capture her, under the orders, junko orders them to make mukuro look bad at the hope event, making her see how she wanted to sabotage or even kill makoto on the spot in front of everyone, at the time of kidnapping hailey, USApyon tries to stop them without much success, also capturing mukuro, however, when isabel comes into action in defense of hailey, junko is surprised and changes her mind, sending to have isabel captured, which the remnants do, by leaving mukuro tied to a room, hurting her physically to make it difficult for her to escape, They take Isabel to Junko, who, with the scientists under threat, subjects her to the same process as Hinata, witnessing it, giving birth to Keneshi Kamukura, although they are uncomfortable with her unpredictable and inactive behavior.
To be continued...[]
Distinguished members.[]
The Remnant of Despair "Main"[]
She was the leader of the group for a time, until she eventually returned that position to Junko, she is seen as the most prudent and intelligent of the others, managing to hack the cameras even of the most secret parts of Kibougamine, thus discovering its secrets and plans to use them against it, Junko even tells her that if it weren't for Keneshi, she would be his right hand.
Remnant in Springdale[]
According to the "principal" he was the most reckless although stupid of all, revealing himself in the ceremony in front of the final members of the class-77, who among them were nidai, fuyuhiko, peko, gundham and the impostor who with the help of blazion defeated him and handed him over to the police without problems, at least until junko and his followers and monokumas freed him giving him a second chance.
Relationships[]
Junko enoshima[]
They continue to worship her as their symbol of despair, some even eager to bring her back to life, following her orders to the letter without question, feeling desperately joyful when she returns to them, though somewhat ashamed when she berates them for their mistakes.
Keneshi kamukura[]
At first they thought he would be even better than Izuru, but they quickly regretted it when they saw that Keneshi was too inperactive and unpredictable for them, causing them to fear him and miss the old Izuru Kamukura.
Hizuki enoshima[]
(Alternate line) They consider her a worthy younger sister for the ultimate despair, although they believe she could have turned out better than Izuru, they idolize her to continue Enoshima's legacy when she reaches the same age as Junko.
Nathan adams and Hailey anne[]
They were in charge of stealing the Yo-kai Watches for Junko. On Hailey's side, they initially had their eye on her to become a Keneshi Kamukura, but they switched to Isabel as the best candidate.
Kibougamine's scientists[]
They observed them and learned what they most needed to know. Upon returning to Junko, they threatened and blackmailed the scientists into agreeing to cooperate with the Keneshi Kamukura project and the development of more intelligent and functional Monokumas.
Trivia[]
- They are somewhat afraid of Keneshi because of his style of "play", which makes them miss izuru kamukura.
- The concept of remnants of despair being on the loose when they were supposed to be extinct is very interesting.
