Eobard Thawne, also known as Reverse-Flash, is the unseen overarching antagonist of the DEATH BATTLE episode, "Flash VS Quicksilver" and one of the two titular villainous protagonists of the DEATH BATTLE episode, "Goku Black VS Reverse-Flash".

He is a time traveling living paradox bent on ruining Barry Allen/The Flash's life. He is Barry Allen and Goku Black's arch nemesis.

He was voiced by Valentine Stokes, who reprised his role as Reverse-Flash from some "It was me, Barry" memes and also voiced Portgas D. Ace.

Personality

Eobard is a sadistic and somewhat petty villain. He takes pleasure in mildly annoying others, whether it'd be minor, such as knocking Goku Black's tea out of his hand, to a murderous level, such as leaving a statue for Quicksilver to get impaled on. He also has a somewhat sadistic sense of humor, as he tells a civilian that he is in need of his services, only to use that person as a meat shield, or sarcastically asking Goku Black if the Time Ring he destroyed was important to him.

History

Flash VS Quicksilver

While unseen and unmentioned, Reverse-Flash was the one who set up the Shogun statue that Flash accidentally knocked Quicksilver into and impaled, making him the one responsible for Quicksilver's death, which was briefly shown during his fight with Goku Black which the latter slaughtered in his way and leaving Quicksilver to be impaled again.

Goku Black VS Reverse-Flash

Eobard is first seen reading a newspaper, laughing at the section framing Flash for killing Quicksilver, as he says his iconic "It was me, Barry!" As he says this, Goku Black suddenly appears sipping tea to a cheering audience who thought he was Goku before he starts massacring them. Having witnessed this, Reverse-Flash jumps in to fight, starting with knocking Black's tea out of his hands, annoying him. The fight starts properly with Black shooting ki blast at the speedster, which he uses an innocent civilian as a meat shield. As the fight continues, the two cause massive collateral damage to the city, but Eobard proves to be too fast for Black. Eventually, Goku Black turns into his Super Saiyan Rosé form and punches Reverse-Flash through the Earth, then through the moon, and then striking him all the way back through the moon and Earth. He then unleashes a Black Kamehameha, which destroys the entire city. Thawne time travels to before the fight began, with Goku Black following thanks to his Time Ring. Eventually though, Thawne ends up back where everything started and kills Goku Black prematurely.

However, a Goku Black suddenly emerges from a portal and kills the past Eobard, confusing both fighters at how they are not dead. Black then summons an army of clones to fight Reverse-Flash, which prompts him to time travel to multiple points of the fight to kill the other Goku Blacks, with Goku Black following suit, with them even disrupting when Eobard placed that statue to kill Quicksilver. Eventually, the two are brought back to the present at the destroyed city, where Goku Black taunts Thawne, until he realizes the yellow speedster took his Time Ring and crushed it, stripping him of his immortality and leaving him vulnerable and unable to time travel. A Reverse-Flash then impales him from behind with a vibrating arm and drags his body across the Earth at super speeds, grinding him to a bloodied pulp. He then throws the body into the sun with enough force to detonate it. Eobard then time travels away from the supernova.

Trivia

• He briefly said his memetic line in the beginning of the fight when reading about incriminating Barry Allen, saying "It was me Barry, I was the one who-" but was cut off by Goku Black.
