Biography[]
Ribbit is a once-cheerful nonbinary frog performer whose code fractured during abstraction, leading them to awaken in the Cellar and reshape a strange Grassland realm they quickly claimed as their own. Now serving a glitch-born Emperor with desperate devotion, they defend their newfound kingdom with polite charm, unstable emotions, and a green saber forged from the last pieces of their broken pride.
After Ribbit succumbed to abstraction, their distorted code was swept deep into the Cellar, where the chaotic fragments of their mind unexpectedly reassembled into a calm, looping oasis that resembled a vibrant grassland; awakening there with only shards of memory and an overwhelming need for control, Ribbit declared the strange meadow their personal kingdom, reshaping it to match their fractured sense of order, and in their shimmering horizon their encountered a towering digital apparition calling itself Emperor Qin Shi Huang, a regal entity born from corrupted history files and Cellar glitches, who praised Ribbit’s new domain and subtly manipulated their fragile ego, convincing the newly reborn villain that he was destined to rule the Grassland forever in the Emperor’s name.
Still bitter over the fragmented memory that Jax’s relentless teasing pushed their toward abstraction, Ribbit made a solemn vow within the endless Grassland realm to erase Jax from his heart and history entirely, promising the Emperor that they would forget the jester forever, not out of forgiveness, but as a way to abandon the pain, weakness, and humiliation that once defined him. Even after being cast into the depths of the Cellar, Ribbit clung to a flickering memory of Caine with fierce devotion, vowing to serve the ringmaster forever from afar, and whispering to the empty Grassland skies that one day, when his fractured code was worthy again, he hoped Caine would appear before him, see his loyalty, and finally acknowledge the forgotten frog who never stopped believing in him.
After stumbling into the endless Grasslands, Ribbit felt an unexpected calm settle over their fractured code, realizing this strange, glitchy meadow was the first place that didn’t reject or overwhelm them. Embracing it as their true home, they reshaped the realm with pride and purpose, vowing to protect it fiercely as the only world where they finally felt seen. Upon discovering the Grasslands hidden deep within the Cellar, Ribbit felt their scattered emotions stitch together into a fragile sense of belonging they hadn’t felt since before abstraction. Claiming the realm as their own, they dedicated themself to shaping its beauty and defending it from anything or anyone that threatened the peace they finally found.
Ribbit carries an enigmatic presence wherever they wander, moving with a quiet, soft-spoken aura that contrasts sharply with the fractured yet focused nature of their thoughts. They remain eerily calm even when turmoil swirls beneath their surface, holding themselves with a regal posture that makes them appear almost mythic against the endless grasslands. Their behavior is deeply ritualistic, built on routines that help them feel grounded, and their contemplative expression often suggests they are communicating with something unseen. Though they appear serene, they are bitterly hopeful beneath the calm, driven by an unspoken authority that lingers in their voice and in every gesture.
Ribbit is emotionally restrained but stubbornly resilient, pushing forward with a determination that keeps their identity intact even when the realm around them shifts and warps. Their entire presence feels like that of a fallen ruler attempting to rebuild their kingdom out of solitude, a being haunted by what they used to be and searching for answers in every rustling shadow of the grasslands. They cling tightly to anything that offers stability, claiming even the simplest shapes and natural patterns as part of their dominion, and they often move as if the land itself whispers guidance to them. In-Game[]
In the game, Ribbit appears as a once-cheerful frog performer whose fractured code and lingering resentment transformed them into the self-appointed Keeper of the Grassland, a volatile yet oddly elegant guardian who shifts between polite charm and sudden fury as they enforce the Emperor’s will and desperately clings to the only realm where they still feel seen. They are abstraction-touched frog performer who rebuilt themself within the Cellar’s strange Grassland, becoming its self-declared ruler, an elegant yet unstable guardian who masks their fear and fractured code behind courteous charm, sudden anger, and unwavering devotion to the Emperor’s cryptic designs.
Ribbit hums in quiet, glitchy croaks as they bounce between tasks, always trying to stay useful for Caine, even if their code flickers from old, painful memories they’re trying hard to bury, they drifts through the halls with soft, echoing hops, their voice a gentle digital croak as they offer help to anyone nearby, determined to stay calm and kind despite the unstable code buzzing under their skin. Ribbit sits in the grass as the lights flicker, speaking with a calm, commanding tone as they face Pomni. They tell her that she has wandered into a realm that no longer belongs to the circus but to them alone, a place they rebuilt from the broken pieces of their abstraction. They explain that the grasslands answered to them the moment they arrived in the cellar, shaping themselves into a world where they finally held control again.
Ribbit warns Pomni that she should not have come searching for them, because she does not understand what they have become or why this place clings to them as its keeper. They state firmly that they will not allow her to undo the order they have created, nor let her take back the stability they fought so hard to claim. Ribbit finishes by declaring that no one escapes their domain, not even someone as determined as Pomni, and if she insists on defying them, then they will personally show her why the grasslands have chosen them as their ruler.
Ribbit gently ask her to hand over the relic soul so they can complete what must be done for the grasslands and for the emperor they now serve. When Pomni refuses to speak, standing stiff and silent in defiance, Ribbit’s smile falters and they slowly rise from their chair, trying once more to keep their voice steady as they explain that this relic is essential and that her stubbornness will only make things worse for both of them. Her continued silence makes their tone sharpen, the calm slipping as frustration builds, and they remind her that they have been patient far longer than she deserves. Finally, with that last moment of defiance hanging between them, Ribbit’s restrained anger bursts through as they crush the wine glass in their hand and let the shards fall to the grass, their voice trembling with fury as they warn her that she has pushed them far past forgiveness.
The shattered glass at their feet glitters in the grass as Ribbit’s breathing grows uneven, their patience finally collapsing under the weight of Pomni’s unyielding silence. They stare at her with wide, trembling eyes, realizing that no gentle request, no calm explanation, and no warning has moved her even an inch. Their voice cracks as they step forward, every ounce of composure slipping away, accusing her of refusing to understand the importance of the relic soul, of spitting on the order they carved out of the chaos that once consumed them. Rage and hurt twist together in their expression as they raise their green weapon, its hum slicing the quiet air, and they warn her that if defiance is the language she chooses, then they will answer in kind. In that final moment, all kindness drains from their voice as they lunge forward, declaring that the time for diplomacy is over and the fight she forced has now.
