Rowen Rat is a supporting antagonist in the Five Nights at Freddy's fangame Playtime with Percy, created by Fazie Funbear. He was once an entertainer at Percy's Playhouse, but after multiple malfunctions, he was abandoned and replaced with Felix Farmer. He, like the other animatronics, is controlled by Pal Percy, trying to get the night guard Nick to stay at Percy's forever.

Appearance[]

Rowan Rat is a brown animatronic rat with small black eyes and white pupils. His nose, tail, inner ears and fingertips are all pink, his snout is light brown, and his stomach is white. He has a large pair of buck teeth as well as several smaller, sharp teeth. He wears green overalls with yellow buttons, and his right hand and lower fingers being black, resembling a fingerless glove. He's in a sever state of disrepair, with his legs being gone entirely and the costume on his left arm being stripped away. He has a hole under his right eye and another on the left side of his face, with his costume eye hanging out and his endo eye - which is black with a red pupil - being exposed. He also has a large hole in his stomach, and several more holes in ears and right arm.

Biography[]

Rowen Rat was once an entertainer created for Percy's Playhouse, and likely the mascot of the Rat-Cade area. Eventually though, he began to malfunctions so frequently that he was decommissioned and abandoned in the storage area. A new animatronic known as Felix Farmer took his place, with his legs being removed and reused for this new robot. After the establishment closes down, Rowen is set to be actioned off with the other animatronics. Until then though, a night guard named Nick is hired to watch over the place, and his Pal Percy toy ends up taking over the robots and sending them to hunt him so he'll never leave.

After Monday night, Nick is tasked with auctioning off the animatronics by finding an offering that matches the price offered, during which Rowen is sold for $600. When the building's power goes out at the end of Wednesday night, Nick must restore it room-by-room by completing two tasks each on a control panel. During this, Rowen will appear peeking out from holes in the walls behind the player. Upon hearing him, they must turn around and flash a light at him to make him retreat. After restoring power to three of the six rooms, he'll then move to the opposite hole when he's shined, requiring him to be hit with the flashlight twice. During the main game, Rowen first activates on Thursday night, and will need to be found on the cameras with the radar system. If the room's name in the radar turns red, he needs to be shocked, otherwise he'll enter the office through a large gray tunnel and kill the player by ripping into them with his claws.

After Friday night, he's sold with all the other animatronics save for Percy Poodle, who needs to be repaired. During the game's credits, a photo can be seen of Rowen and Charlie Cat saying goodbye as they're going to their new owners, with "MOVING DAY!!!" written under it in black marker. Soon after, another photo is shown of Rowen having been discarded by his new owner, sadly sitting on a sidewalk in the rain next to a cardboard sign reading "Will Scare 4 Money", with "Spare Change?" written under the photo.

Trivia[]

When asked who would give the best hugs, the devs said that Percy would give the best, but Rowen would give the worst.
It's never known how he was able to burrow underground and leave the storage room, with his bonuses description admitting that it's a plothole.
His name was originally going to be Rotten Randy, and he would've been a robber. He would've also been accompanied by a possum animatronic that had a similar mechanic to him, though this character was ultimately scrapped.
He was going to have the most complicated mechanic and A.I with several routes to the player, but this was scrapped because it was too complex, with it taking up to three minutes for him to kill the player.
He was planned to show up with the other animatronics in the fight against Pal, though was eventually replaced with the Pal Poodles and Tama-Terrors.
There was also planned to be a post-night minigame involving him and the Playful Poodles, in which both would have to be kept away from boxes that the player had to put stuff in, but it was cut for being too difficult to code.
