Alex, more commonly known by his username RoyalPear or just simply Pear, is the titular main protagonist of his youtube channel of the same name, specifically the YT Shorts, and one of the main characters in the comedic ARG/Web-series Shorts Wars.
He is a youtuber who specializes in making YouTube Shorts, which often feature morbid and dark comedy, which is often Pear being a offensive comedian at best and a borderline criminal at worst. He's a member of the Rumble Pack, and the best friend/"owner" (also former arch-enemy) of his clone, RoyalMelon.
He is voiced by the real RoyalPear, who also voiced RoyalMelon and his helper in Shorts Wars, and Paul in Toon Turf.
Biography[]
Alex would start his internet career on Twitch under the username RoyalPear Gaming. Not much is known about Alex's streaming career, but one of the most famous stories is him "legally scamming" the company Plarium Games and their infamous mobile game Raid: Shadow Legends. Where he was apparently sponsored by them to play and promote the game, but Pear, like most people, found their sponsorships with YouTubers incredibly annoying, stating that they have a "cringy script" for people to read and claims the game itself sucks. However, Pear had a "funny idea" and, after reading the company's entire terms of service, he found a loop-hole in the page and smiled. The page never said he needed a specific level of quality for his stream, so Pear decided to record it from his terrible old laptop, making the stream pretth much unwatchable. He also deep-fryed his mic and put Family Guy clips randomly. Supposedly, Plarium had to change their terms of service because of this.
According to "how i found my name", he was having problems deciding what his name should be. He had some ideas like MelloJello (which was also his Playstation username at the time) and "[His] actual fucking goverment name with 7 behind it", he obviously didn't go with either. He had begun feeling insecure about not having a cool username, however, this change once he realized: Some of his favorite creators' usernames are two unrelated words fused together, so Alex decided he would do the same. He decided on "Royal" first since it reminded him of purple, his favorite color, but he went to the fridge to find a second word: He found salsa, ham, tortillas, but he ultimately landed on Pear. Thus creating his username.
At some point, Pear moved from Twitch to YouTube. His YouTube channel started with now lost videos of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate he made while bored in college. In January 12th, 2023, Pear would upload his first YouTube short, "going undercover in terrible discord servers", this short perfectly showed off Pear's sense of humor: Mean and edgy.
"i saw THE mario movie" is one of the first examples on the channel of Pear being a criminal, His uncle supposedly got him a DVD of the (at the time) upcoming 2023 Mario movie (which is actually the infamous 1993 live-action movie) for his birthday. But he told Pear he couldn't show it the his viewers. After this, Pear reveals he went to his uncle's funeral and, at the end of the short, after Pear expresses distaste in the movie, he says he "doesn't regret what he did to his uncle", implying he killed his own uncle just to show the internet the movie.
Shorts Wars and Saving Melon[]
Pear is one of the Shorts Creators that are targeted by Clone VPN and their Boss in his plan to destroy YouTube. Pear also appears as the main protagonist of the Saving Melon miniseries.
In Season 1, Pear was unknowningly being targeted by the Boss. After he finished making a livestream, Pear got an email from an unknown company named "Clone VPN" who offered a sponsorship deal, promising to give twenty-thousand dollars. Pear was excited and immediately accepted their deal, this would ironically doom Pear since Clone VPN was actually planning on, well, cloning him and hijacking his channel. While their first attempt to clone him failed, they would end up using a prototype clone. At some point, Pear's videos would get weird glitches that he either ignored or didn't notice.
At the end of a livestream, Pear would be kidnapped and replaced by his clone, who would take over his channel, though Pear would try and fight back by using morse code stating that he was still alive. As "wheredidriggygo.mp4" shows, Pear would be held captive in the Clone VPN facility, despite the Prototype actually liking him and disliking the company. However, Riggy Runkey would save him and the two decided to fight back. As shown in "facilityplayback.mp4", Pear and Riggy would use the fact that they're 2D/"PNG-Tubers" to break into the facility's main room. Clone Riggy and the Prototype would catch up to them and try to stop them from making a virus on the VPN's website, but Pear tried getting the Prototype to abandoned Clone VPN and join him in making shorts free from them.
At some point, the YouTubers succeded in fighting back and the company began facing it's downfall. Pear would try to talk to the Prototype in "the end", however, the Boss put "something" in the clone's head to mind-control him and force him to fight Pear. The Boss would force the Prototype to self-destruct to kill both of them off, much to Pear's horror. However, the Prototype would end up rebelling against him and destroy the cloning machine, thus saving Pear's life. The Prototype would sacrifice himself (not really) and destroy the machine. Pear would be horrified and traumatized from this event, creating a channel and livestream dedicated channel to the Prototype, now known as RoyalMelon, as his final tribute, calling it "RoyalMelom's Funeral".
In Season 2, the Boss would, once again, began targeting the creators. At some point he would terrible "reaction content" to their videos, in reality he would simply steal their content while all he did was point and shake his head sometimes. This would understandably annoy Pear, stating he was doing "Bentellect goofy ahh shit", while threatening and insulting him. The Boss would, ironically, react to this video, and Pear would fight back by, funnily enough, reacting to that video. This would start a never-ending reaction cycle between the two rivals, with Phaleur even joining in at some point. Eventually, Pear would stop this war and realize that his clone, RoyalMelon, was still alive and well. He would start a livestream where he would try and bring him back, While the stream ended with him succeding in bringing back Melon, this would caused Pear to be trapped in the Pokémon game he was playing. This was actually the start of a miniseries in-between of Season 2: Saving Melon, where Pear, unaware that Melon is using his channel and spending his money, would try to save him
- "I Got Sucked Into a Pokémon Game": Pear would be teleported to the region of Wizzle. He tells the viewers his goals and tells them he needs their help, revealing this to be a "chose your own path" type of adventure. When a purple Tropius would complain about him talking to the viewers, Pear would use "domain expansion" to kill him with a boulder. Three days later, Pear would find a town, then ask an old man how to get to the region's center, Mount Tilijahara, who gave him the useless advice of walking. Seven days later, Pear would encounter another old man, who tells him that he needs a Starter Pokémon or else he can't proceed. The man gives the viewer three choices for a starter for Pear: A rock, a piece of paper and a gun. He lets the viewers chose one of them, as Pear begs them to chose gun.
- "THE GAME STARTS": The viewers thankfully chose gun for Pear, which he is thankful for. Before continuing his journey, Pear begs the viewers to buy his merch, which the purple Tropius calls him out for. Pear is confused by this since he killed the purple Tropius, but he states that he's "like that dude from that videogame where they spend five nights in the pizzeria and there's like a bear" and, while trying to say his catchphrase, a bus runs him over. An annoyed Pear decides to set up a camp and, while trying to sleep, he hears some weird noises, as he asks the viewers what to do.
- "SOMEONE APPEARS...": The viewers have Pear check out what the noise could be. He realizes it was actually YouTuber RoyalProtoM, who also got trapped in Wizzle. Pear offers Proto to join his camp, but he realizes the noises were probably Joe Caine and starts looking for him. He later finds him in a bush, as Joe reveals he was forced to watch terrible brainrot content against his will, but the duo are confronted by the Black Dragon.
- "THE BATTLE": The viewers have Pear and Joe fight the Black Dragon. Joe miraculously defeats the Dragon with a Minecraft bed, much to Pear's surprise and the Dragon's horror. Joe reveals he was trapped in a FWTD where he as forced to fight the Dragon non-stop and watch cringe content, which disgust Pear as he brings him to camp. Pear decides he, Proto and Joe need to fight back, as he gives them the rock and paper respectively, and while the purple Tropius complains about Pear taking all three things saying it defeats the point of the game, Pear doesn't care at all as the purple guy is killed by a falling plane. The trio fight against the Black Dragon, with the goal of permanently killing it, in which they succed as it drops a key. However, their power accidentally kills Proto, much to Pear and Joe's sadness. Despite this, Pear decides he still needs to find and save Melon, but this causes Joe to be killed, which Pear jokes, but is still saddened, about. Pear realizes he's on his own now.
- A video by Proto shows he got trapped in purgatory.
- "THE END": Pear finally gets to Mount Tilijahara and is about to save Melon, as he uses the key to deactivate the lasers surronding Melon. However, it's reveal that Melon was never there at all and the one right there was fake. While Pear is panicking, Dunbun runs up to him and holds him at gunpoint and tries to shoot him, but he misses. During this moment, Pear realizes Proto was only sent there because the Boss probably confused both of them for each other thanks to their similar names, he also suspects that Joe isn't actually dead. He tries to stop Dunbun by showing him a Chicken Sandwich/Burger and starts another iconic debate about the subject. Dunbun summons Bundun who says it's a Chicken Burger, but Pear argues it's a Chicken Sandwich, as he shoots Bundun and, ironically, saving him from Wizzle. Pear shoots the fake Melon, thus ending the torment he and his friends suffered and destroying Wizzle.
Eventually, Proto, Joe and Bundun got back to the real world. As shown in "Endgame", Pear and Melon would escape the computer that was keeping them captive, as Pear uses domain expansion to blow up Preston and save his friends from him. In "weird food combinations", Pear recieved a Court Summon telling him he is joining in the Boss' trial, but he ignores it at the time.
In Season 3, Pear and Melon are invited to the Boss' trial. But before that, the duo begin having complications. Starting with "a talk", Pear is frustated with Melon's laziness, plus him playing Genshin Impact on his account. At some point, Pear checks his bank account and realizes Melon spend at least thousands of his money on stupid stuff, like Genshin Impact and daily TacoBell orders from Doordash. This, undertsandably, angers Pear and he threatenes Melon to stop. Pear tells him they need to go to the mall to buy some clothes for the courtcase, but Melon says that they should go naked, which Pear surprisingly agrees. But the video ends with Pear shooting Melon when he asked some extra [something] from TacoBell when Pear tried Doordash-ing.
In "the end of melon", we see the aftermath of the shot. Pear has trapped Melon in "the basement", carrying him atop some lava. Pear threatenes to kill him because of his laziness, but Melon begs for one more chance. Pear decides to give him a chance, by having him read an ad for his YouTooz plush toy, while Melon is at first excited, his exciment quickly becomes fear once he learns that, if one-thousand plushies aren't sold, Melon will be "deleted from existence". Pear tells the viewers to "Make sure to buy a thousand!" as the video ends, leaving Melon's fate dubious. He would also start a livestream recaping the entire series before the courtcase.
Finally, the courtcase has started with the Creators and Clone VPN, plus their respective allies, are surprisingly unprepared. Pear is the fourth person that is brought as a witness against the Boss, alongside Melon on his shoulder. However, the duo begin wasting time. Pear says his catchphrase, an anime-addicted states his name is actually "Naruto Guts D. Yeager Heisenberg Bateman the 3rd Jr.", which annoys everyone (except RedJet), including Pear, and Pear protest against Melon being "Mr. Melon", considering him a pet and below him, but Joe stops them from wasting time and finally gets them to help them. After several questions, Pear reveals he didn't wanna show up but Bundun threatened to reveal the police about Pear kidnapping him from the Block Blast! video, while also revealing he has some random guy in his basement and that he doesn't pay his taxes, as Judge Wendy kicks him out.
After a long and tedious court case, the Boss is declared innocent by the jury, however he is killed by Dr. Francis Dave after taking over Preston. Dave destroys the entire court and unleashes his ultimate form, Preston Prime. As Dave surronds the creators, Pear wakes up and sees the doctor, but Melon, thinking he alone could defeat him, jumps him, as Pear tries to stop him. Dave is unfazed by Melon and flicks him away and severely injures him, much to Pear's horror. As Dave monolouges to the Creators, Joe decides to give him and his friends "crazy anime powers" to face the true evil, as the gang start the battle. When Dave tries killing Riggy, Pear ends up saving him wih some large weeds, claiming himself as "goated". Pear manages to keep Dave restricted for a while, but Dave quickly gains the upperhand and swings Pear around with his own weeds, as he launches Pear to the sky, which also knocks down Mogswamp. Later, the creators prepare their final move to defeat Dave, the plan starts with Pear using the Domain Expansion to freeze Dave, as the other Creators create an avil to restrict Dave and feed him a cheesepuff, which seemingly brings back Preston for a brief second, and cdot ultimately kills him (or them) once and for all.
The creators are finished. Pear states he's "gonna miss [the creators]", since there's alot of evidence of them commiting crimes. But cdot points out the evidence is destroyed along with the court, much to Pear's excitement. The creators declare that, while Shorts Wars is over, their friendship shouldn't be. They decide to start a new channel with the Boss' abandoned one, deciding it should be called "The Rumble Pack", as their new group name, with them now finally at peace. After this, "not the end of melon" would release. Pear visits Melon after Dave knocked him out, showing his remorse for treating him badly, stating they should become "real friends". He also reveals they sold a thousand plushies, so he won't kill him, much to Melon's joy. Pear states they could use the channel to show Melon's life, but stating there won't be frequent uploads due to having lots of work in real-life.
Personality[]
In his videos, Pear is often portrayed as a sarcastic, edgy, borderline unhinged/"wild" individual at his "best" moments. He often makes remarks about the things he talks about and will never miss the opportunity of using shock comedy, a notable example being his "world leaders tier list" which straight up starts with him putting Joseph Stalin in S Tier. Pear is very aware of his "out of pocket" moments since having a whole compilation of them that he show to his parents, his mom apparently got mad and his dad laughed.
At his worst moments, Pear is shown to be an actual criminal and sociopath, as there are several shorts where he non-chalantly admits to some of his crimes or, in his hypothetical videos, reveals he wouldn't be above commiting them. Pear isn't above commiting crimes for the sake of content, like in all his Block Blast videos, he is even willing to put his own friends in danger for the sake of content, namely Bundun in his first Block Blast video and Melon in "the end of melon", though he eventually showed remorse for the latter.
However, in spite of his crimes, Pear isn't a complete monster, he has shown he does care for people. He has genuine friendships with various people, like the Rumble Pack (even Bundun, despite what he did to him during the Block Blast video) as he enjoys hanging out with them and helped them in defeating Clone VPN, RoyalMelon as, despite their conflicts, he has shown concern towards his safety and does care for him deep down, among others.

Trivia[]
- His avatar is the Pokémon Tropius. According to "why i picked tropius", he choose him because one day, while he was scrolling randomly, found Tropius' render from My Pokémon Ranch and he loved the face he was making.
- Pear is mexican-american.
- His favorite TV show is Breaking Bad, and mentions it in a couple videos.
- Despite stating he doesn't want to be famous, he has plans to become a full-time internet personality.
- Prior to his YouTube career, Pear was a pretty popular Twitch streamer.
- Ironically, despite supposedly being one of the "heroes" in Shorts Wars while Melon was a "villain", Pear is way more villainous than Melon. Melon, while no saint, is incredibly affable and a Villain by Proxy, and most of the crimes he commits (even post-Season 1) don't seem to be out of malicious intent. Pear, meanwhile, commits horrible acts on the regular and is usually apathetic to those he ends up hurting.
- Apparently, Pear made a fake face reveal on his Discord to celebrate 100,001 subscribers, where he got Jonathan, a friend of his, to pretend to be him while he dubbed him over.
