Safa Gaziz, born Safa Gaysinovich Gazizov, is a minor antagonist in The New Order: Last Days of Europe, a mod of Hearts of Iron 4.
Roles[]
Originally, Gaziz served as one of the Kazakh warlords (with a Nazism ideology) in the prototype version and the main protagonist of Aktau storyline before its removal.
However, he currently returns to the game lore as an Ultranationalistic warlord and serves as a side antagonist of After Midnight, with a more specified backstory to detail his way to the darkness. He becomes the leader of Kazakh Purification Army.
He is the villainous main protagonist of his own route, and the main antagonist for the routes of Sultanakhmet Kozhikov and Ryszard Kukliński.
Personality[]
Originally, Gazizov was implied to be a brave Kazakh war hero who fought in the second World War and the resistance against the Holy Russian Empire's aggression against Kazakhstan.
However, Gazizov's traumatic experience of seeing his people purged drove him into a xenophobic cynic. He permanently lost his faith in the Soviet Union and harbored severe hatred to those who he deem to be directly and indirectly cause that made Kazakhstan to suffer, especially the Russians.
After the Midnight, Gaziz raised his insane genocide against the Russian people in order to make Russia pay for Kazakh people's suffering. His hatred had extended to those heroic Russian warlords who are actually fighting against the Holy Russian Empire, refusing to see any good remaining in them.
Still, despite trying to avenge the Kazakh people, Gaziz is not above being a hypocrite, no better than Taboritsky or his subordinates. Besides the Russians, Gaziz also despises the Poles, the Uzbeks and even the Iranians, even if they never did join the persecution against the Kazakh people. It was simply because they were not even presented, largely due to their own problems, and Gaziz considered those to be their crimes of inaction as they should have been helping his people. This depicts how delusional Gaziz had become.
Furthermore, it is implied that he sees the Free Kazakh Clans as enemies for their tolerance to coexist with Russians.
Biography[]
Past version (scrapped)[]
In the prototype version of TNO, Sefa Gaziz was a Kazakh nationalist who led the Kazakh Blueshirts, a group of Kazakh Nazis which had took over the state of Aktau during Kazakhstan's civil war. He led his force against the Russia and had even collaborated with Germany in order to achieve his goals.
After Midnight[]
Originally, Safa Gazizov was an NKVD agent of Kazakh origin, who had fought against Sergey Taboritsky's force in Kazakhstan after the Holy Russian Empire unified Russia.
However, during the war, Gazizov was deeply traumatized by the Shturmoviki's cruelty and become insane, Russophobic and delusional as a result. He developed a deep hatred towards Russia and the Russian people.
Not long after that, Gaziz founded the Kazakh Purification Army, an extremely radical army of anti-Russian extremists. He removed the "-ov" suffix in his family name, banned the use of Slavic alphabets in favor of Latin alphabets, and severed all his ties with the Slavic culture and the former Soviet Union.
After Taboritsky died, Gaziz followed some Warlords suit and revolted against the Holy Russian Empire's reign of terror, taking over a part of eastern Kazakhstan as their own base.
The Kazakh Purification Army is a Kazakh version of Dmitry Yazov and the Black League, albeit aiming to Russians and even other Slavic groups. Their sole purpose is to wipe out the Russian people in order to exterminate the concept of Russia itself, so that they can seek vengeance against Russia for the near extermination of Kazakh group.
In addition to that, the Purification Army also extended their hatred towards others ethnic groups, such as the Poles, the Uzbeks and even Iranians, blaming them for their "inaction" towards Kazakh people's suffering.
Gaziz and his minions are also foes towards the Free Kazakh Clans and the Autonomous Soviet Liberation Army. The former had chosen to coexist with the Russians that are not affiliated with Taboritsky's force, and the latter was pertaining to Polish socialists and kept rescuing Russian refugees from the Purification Army's genocidal acts.
If the Kazakh Purification Army reunified Russia, Gaziz will establish a cruel dictatorial state named the Purified State of Kazakhstan, a Kazakh regime over all of Russia that constantly purges its territory of anything related to Russian civilization.
Trivia[]
- The real world Sefa Gazizov was a Soviet war hero of Kazakh origin, who had even earned a Soviet Hero medal for his contribution in the World War II.
- After the v1.1.0d update, the entire state of Aktau was cut alongside its early version of Gaziz and had its territory merged into Aktobe. Aktau's removal was mainly because of how implausible its lore was, and it might even raise controversy, as it unreasonably demonized a Soviet war hero into a Nazi collaborator.
- Gaziz's reintroduction in After Midnight reworked him into a more sympathetic yet still delusional figure, with a more plausible way to turn villainous (because of his people's suffering from Taboritsky's atrocities). Above all, despite still being villainous, he is no longer an ally of Nazis in the new lore.
- Gaziz serves as a evil counterpart to the Joint Council of Free People from the Idel-Ural Free State.
- Both of them are survived victims of Taboritsky's genocide and hates the Russian nationalists for causing their misery, trying to remove the Holy Russian Empire's horrific influence via removing the concept of Russian culture.
- However, unlike the Kazakh Purification Army, the Idel-Ural Free State does not commit mass genocide on innocent Russian people or other ethnic groups, despite many of its leaders' distrust and intolerance towards Russians. They only act ruthless towards the forces of their real enemies, the Holy Russian Empire and the Ural Purification Zone, and therefore their acts are undoubtedly righteous even if they are ruthless.
