Sanae Kochiya is a minor character from Touhou Project grimdark fan-video, Koishi Komeiji's Heart Throbbing Adventure created by Sentaku-bune.

She is depicted as a tragic figure whose trauma and descent into madness ultimately lead to her demise.

Appearance[]

She retains her usual appearance from the Touhou Project series, long green hair, blue-and-white shrine maiden outfit, and a frog-shaped hair ornament. However, when she appears during the Insanity Ray incident, her clothing and soaked in blood, and her eyes wide with delirium. She carries an unhinged smile throughout her rampage, and weld a cleaver instead of her usual gohei.

Personality[]

Sanae was portrayed as kind-hearted, faithful. However, her past trauma years of bullying, abuse, and the death of her mother left deep emotional scars.

The exposure to the Insanity Ray completely shattered her, turning her into a bloodthirsty and obsessive maniac. Despite her madness, a trace of her former self surfaces in her final moments, where she apologizes to Kogasa.

Biography[]

Backstory[]

Sanae was born in a hospital in Nagano, where Kanako Yasaka and Suwako Moriya observed her from a distance. Despite their divine invisibility, the infant Sanae was able to perceive them. Impressed and curious, the two decided to watch over her and her family from that day forward.

During her high school years, Sanae became a frequent target of relentless bullying. Her classmates subjected her to constant humiliation and abuse, pouring buckets of water over her, beating her, and even attempting to sexually assault her. The torment reached its peak when the bullies burned down her home, killing her mother in the process.

Overwhelmed with rage and grief, Sanae snapped. In a fit of madness, she brutally murdered her classmates in revenge. After the incident, she vanished from the outside world and eventually found her way into Gensokyo, where she became the shrine maiden of the Moriya Shrine.

October 4th[]

During the Lunarian Insanity Ray incident that spread madness across Gensokyo, Sanae became one of its victims. Under its influence, she turned feral and homicidal, killing Mystia Lorelei offscreen before encountering Kogasa Tatara.

When Kogasa is captured, Sanae sadistically searching for Kogasa’s tendons with the intent to tear them apart. However, her assault is interrupted when Kogasa calls for Urameshiya, her haunted umbrella spirit, which retaliates by impaling Sanae.

As she lies dying, Sanae regains a moment of clarity and tearfully apologizes to Kogasa before succumbing to her wounds.
