Sans is the main protagonist villain of the dark Undertale AU: Dusttrust. Originally a cheerful skeleton who wished to solve things through kindness, this all changed when his brother, Papyrus started killing other monsters. After being forced to kill him in self-defense, Sans, guilt ridden, sought to avenge his brother by finishing his goal by killing other monsters in order to end the repeated torture monsters go through, slowly going insane in the process, Similar to Papyrus (Dustbelief),
Appearance[]
Sans doesn't differ much from his traditional Underswap appearance (Blue Cape, Gray Battle Body) . However, he now wears his brother's deceased hoodie around his waist, as his grin now looks more insane. His eyes have a mix between yellow, blue and red. There is also a hole in the right side of his head.
After being revived thanks to the determination he absorbed after killing Alphys, Sans fully dons Papyrus' hoodie with the sleeves rolled up. His Eyes Are Both Flashing Yellow/Blue/Purple. The crack becomes a hole in his head, which is notably bigger as well.
With All The Souls, He Becomes A Skeletal Dragon-like Being, And In The Wings Are Empty Holes, With Souls In Each One.
Trivia[]
- The hole in his head represents how he killed Alphys.
- During the theme "Homicidal Lunacy", the song "Another One Bites the Dust" sung by Queen can be briefly heard.
- Likewise, in the theme "Finality" the song "Vandalize" by ONE OK ROCK can be heard.
- While it is unknown if Sans is the older brother in this AU, canon Underswap follows the logic of Sans remaining as the older brother despite being in Papyrus's place. With that said, it can be assumed that the same goes for this version of Sans.
- Sans mentions a "mysterious figure" approached him at one point. This could be River Person, as he is often swapped with Gaster in most Underswap takes.
- Despite this, said character is never actually seen.
- A lot of fans have jokingly stated that the speakers and mic used in phase 3 resembles that of what is used in Friday Night Funkin', but that’s false.
- In the original Dustbelief, Papyrus fights back and accidentally kills Sans in self-defense. When this version of Sans kills Papyrus, the text claims that he was "forced to kill him in self-defense". Whether or not Sans intentionally killed his brother is unknown.
- Unlike most Underswap portrayals, this Sans speaks all of his words in a lowercase unless he is mad while Papyrus speaks in all caps, much like their classic counterparts. It's unknown as to why this is.
