Dr. Eggman: How could it end like this?! I was so close!
Satan: You were close, but not close enough. I gave you everything. My army, my power... and yet you still failed. You're pathetic.
Eggman: Oh god, no! Give me another chance!
Satan: No, you've had your chance. It was nice knowing you, fool.
~ Satan punishing Eggman for his failure.

Satan is the unseen overarching antagonist of the Sonic the Hedgehog fangame Hellfire Saga.

Appearance[]

It's unknown what Satan looks like in this game, but he is likely demonic in appearance not unlike most versions of Satan.

Powers and skills[]

Satan is likely, as other incarnations, a demon of great power great enough to make him the de facto ruler of hell and is powerful enough to send objects flying sky high before they explode as shown with Eggman's mecha with the scientist inside it. He also likely has powers of telepathy as shown when he converses with Eggman about being punished for his failure.

Personality[]

Satan can be inferred to be willing to lend his resources to other villains as part of any alliance against their enemies. However, as shown in his sole dialog, he is not one to tolerate failure and will be very punishing of anyone who fails him as shown with him making Dr. Eggman blast off into outer space and regarded him as a fool for not living up to his expectations.

Biography[]

Prior to the events of the game, Satan lent Dr. Eggman his army and power so he can stand a chance his against Sonic. Satan also gave Eggman the throne of hell by the time he imprisoned Sonic's friends and plotted another attempt at world conquest. This resulted in a resourceful alliance that involved both machines and Satan's demonic powers.

The kidnapping of Sonic's friends leads to his unwitting arrival into the underworld where he finds himself fighting against the combined forces of the two villains while traveling through Satan's domain in search of answers of where he is and finding his missing friends, much to the annoyance of Gloamgozer, one of Satan's minions, whereas Death appeared more welcoming to Sonic despite intent to kill him out of potential loyalty to his master.

When Sonic finally catches up with Eggman deep into the Devil's Castle without knowing he was involved, Eggman explained how many defeats and humiliations at his enemy's hands lead to his decision to make a deal with the devil and defeat the hedgehog that annoyed him for good. After a tough battle with two machines made with Eggman's genius and the devil's power, Eggman is confronted by the devil who was furious at Eggman's failure.

Eggman pleads with the devil with another chance, but Satan refuses this as it was the only chance he gave the mad scientist and he blew it. Satan then punishes Eggman by blowing his machine high into the skies and blowing it up, nearly killing him.
