Scar is the secondary antagonist of the 2017 film, The Lion King. He is Mufasa's loyal brother, who later turns against him as Tamal talks him into killing Mufasa.

History[]

On the day that Simba was born, and the ceremony begun, Scar stood next to Mufasa. Scar and Mufasa were settled, until Tamal and a few more hyenas came and threatened that there is a war coming, and that the king and his son won't survive. Scar quickly stalks on Tamal, and angrily tells him to run for his life. Tamal however isn't afraid, as he starts telling Scar that as an older brother, he should be king. Tamal even starts implying to Scar that he had always wanted to enjoy the moment of his glory and powerful dreams.

Scar stands on the spot, as he does consider and somewhat agree to what Tamal had told him. After Tamal and his hyena followers retreat, Mufasa tells Scar to get the kingdom ready for war. Scar however asks Mufasa to have mercy on the hyena clan, and reminds him that Lord Tamal has been quite useful as a supplier of good foods. Simba later comes to visit Scar, and asks him about the war. Scar tells Simba that the hyenas are very angry, and that he will go reason with them to keep Simba and the family safe. Simba asks about The Abyssu Valley. Scar frightenedly orders Simba not to go there, but eventually, Simba disobeys him anyway. Scar later goes to The Elephant Graveyard, and passes through the hyenas who make him space, and as he passes by they and growl at him and snap their teeth to him. Scar encounters Tamal, who comes out of the shadows, and asks him if he needs anything. Scar asks Tamal to teach him more about being king. Tamal sings his own version of "Be Prepared", and while singing he convinces Scar to join him against Mufasa, and become king. Tamal honestly tells Scar that by being king, he needs to be completely loyal to Tamal and The Hyena Clan, and accept them as the higher ranked leaders of the kingdom, with Tamal as the supreme leader. Tamal asks Scar to roar like a lion, so he can be sure that Scar is loyal to him. Scar does roar very loud, as Simba and Nala actually heard it, and knew that there is a traitor in the kingdom. Tamal orders Scar to bring Mufasa to The Abyssu Valley, while he himself will give Simba a nice and personal surprise. Scar rejoins Mufasa, and tells him that Simba is in trouble, thus leading his brother and Zazu to The Abyssu Valley, as they walk on the edge/cliff. While Mufasa is watching the kids being taken as hostages for Tamal, Scar pushes him off the cliff. Mufasa manages to grab onto the cliff, and climb up. As Mufasa almost reaches the top, Scar grabs his paw. Mufasa asks Scar why he is doing such a thing as murdering his own brother. Scar replies that Tamal was right, and that he should have being king, and ruled The Pride Lands alongside the hyenas. Scar lets go of Mufasa's paw, and watches his brother fall to his very death. Scar later stands among the hyenas on stage, as Tamal speaks and becomes the kingdom's new supreme leader. Later, Simba returns to The Pride Lands, and as Scar watches, Simba asks Tamal why he killed Mufasa for nothing more than power. Tamal angrily replied that for 40 years, he has been suffering from Mufasa's great weakness as The Pride Land' ruler, and that he deserves to be killed by somebody more powerful than his foolish need for a loving family. Scar suddenly stands in front of Tamal, and asks him why he had to participate in a crime against his own brother, as it lead to nowhere and not even full command or leadership. The enraged Tamal scratched Scar on the face, and left a mark/scar on his left cheek. Tamal ordered Scar to never question him again. Sarabi however told the other lions and lionesses that if the lions act for justice, they should act now. The lions started and fighting the hyenas in rage, as the hyenas eventually lost the battle and were all killed. Scar and Tamal ran towards a burning cliff while the lions and the hyenas have battled. As Tamal eventually saw that Simba was following them and tracking them from far away, Tamal ordered Scar to kill Simba. Scar eventually encountered Simba on the way back. Simba accused him of killing Mufasa, causing Scar to fight his own nephew with no remorse. Scar bashed Simba into the fire, and as he walked towards the injured Simba, he told him that Mufasa was a weak fool. Scar tried to bite Simba's neck, however, Simba rolled over and pushed Scar into the fire, causing him to die.
