Scott, later known as Springtrap, is the secondary antagonist of the Soul tetralogy, by LadyDaybreaker.

He serves as the overarching antagonist of Soul, the secondary antagonist of Soul: Shades, the main antagonist of Soul: Guardian Angel, and a minor antagonist in Soul: Demons.

He's the serial killer that murdered four children in 1987, as well as the one who installed the chip into the animatronics. After death, he tries to finish what he started by killing the sole survivor of the killings, and succeeds in doing so. He's the archenemy of the Five Missing Children: Mikayla "Mike" and Robert "Robby" Schmidt, Amanda and Matthew Harper, and Sam Wyatt.

Biography[]

Nothing about Scott's backstory is known besides for the fact that, one day, he murdered a little girl called Emily Fitgerald in front of Fredbear's Family Diner. Her body would be put inside the Marionette by the sentient AIs of Fredbear and Spring Bonnie. Emily's soul would move on, but the Marionette would still gain sentience and supernatural powers. They would somehow become aware of each other and team up, with Scott creating five chips with viruses in them.

Soul[]

In 1987, Scott, dressed up in the Fredbear/Golden Freddy costume, lured five children backstage at Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria. He would kill all but one of them, the sole survivor being Mikayla "Mike" Schmidt, who got away while her brother Robby was being tortured by Scott, having his body parts cut off. He then hid the bodies in the four unused animatronics in the backstage. When the Marionette manipulated the souls of the children into haunting the robots, and they fell asleep, Scott used four of the five chips to hack the animatronics. That way, they become aggressive at night, and the Marionette can brainwash them into killing night guards. He's not seen for the rest of the fanfic, although the Marionette does brainwash Foxy into thinking Jeremy Fitzgerald is Scott trying to lure away another victim, causing The Bite of '87.

It's been mentioned that Scott was the true identity of the Phone Guy, with implications he purposefully gave the night guards bad hints to get them killed. For ten years, Scott and the Marionette would work together to kill night guards using the main four animatronics. Meanwhile, Mike escaped with her mother to another town so she will be safe from Scott. Despite surviving, she was officially proclaimed missing and later given a burial alongside her actually dead friends for her safety. However, Mike would have nightmares about the murders, and Scott himself, for ten years.

Soul: Shades[]

Scott is both seen and heard throughout earlier chapter as the Phone Guy, helping the newly-employed Mike while secretly planning to get rid of her and finish what he started. In one chapter, the one where the Night 4 phone call happens, he's shown to have survived and ran way from the restaurant after stabbing Foxy. Many chapters later, Scott returns, where the souls of his victims lure him into the Spring Bonnie suit, where he dies a painful death. However, he's resurrected, and waits for the right opportunity to kill Mike. One night, when Mike puts on the Golden Freddy suit, Springtrap's wraith haunts her body, trying to take control of it and convince the other animatronics to turn against the Marionette. Ultimately, he's defeated and never seen again.

At the end of the fic, the pizzeria is burned down, but Springtrap survives.

Soul: Guardian Angel[]

After being brought to Fazbear's Fright ten years later, Springtrap tries to kill Mike and Jeremy, the two guards. One night, he manages to kidnap Mike and have her suffer a springlock failure in the Golden Freddy costume, which he later chips to make her aggressive. However, it fails, and it only results in the Golden Freddy AI becoming active, and it almost kills Springtrap. When the attraction burns down, Springtrap survives.

Soul: Demons[]

Scott himself has a seriously small role, only appearing once or twice to mock the heroes. He's instead replaced by the much kinder Spring Bonnie AI. One night, he attacks Andrew Masters. When Mike/Golden Freddy is consumed by her hatred and anger and becomes Nightmare, Scott tries to fight her, believing it's his territory. Once Spring Bonnie willingly shuts down to condemn Scott's soul, Scott tries to stop Mike's son Robby II from freeing his mother's spirit out of spite. However, Emily appears and throws him to Hell, where he will be tortured for all eternity.

Trivia[]

Given that the animatronics were forced to kill for ten years straight, this version of William Afton, even if under a different name, might have one of the highest kill counts any version of Afton had, ever. His kill count could be anywhere from a few dozen to outright hundreds.
There was originally going to be a story explaining Scott's motives and backstory as part of the Soul: Backstage Stories miniseries. However, it never happened.
