Oh, I'll help you. I'll help you because it helps me. But also, because in the end... the Darkness always wins.

I've never wanted to change my ways. I wanted to change yours, Sabre. I wanted to change you into ME.

~ Shadow Sabre to Sabre.

Darkness is a tool. It's a tool that lies within everything and everyone, and it will be used correctly, unlike you or Void, who used it for their own gain. I am going to use it to stop this, finally. This everlasting existence... It'll never go away. The Darkness will always come back, within everyone and everything. Do you know what it's like? To always come back? Void figured it out, but he relished in it. That fool. He never got to experience what always was, and what always will be. I want nothing, because I've always seen it all. I've always experienced it all. You... will not stop me.

~ Shadow Sabre to Sabre, showing how deep his devotion to the Darkness has gone.
Shadow Sabre is the secondary antagonist of 2020-21 web series Rainbow Quest, and a mentioned antagonist in it's sequel 2021-22 web series Twisted Rainbow, both installments of Steve Cinematic Universe.
In the RQ, he serves as a major antagonist in Season 3, a cameo antagonist in Season 4, the deuteragonist of Season 5, the main antagonist of Season 6 and the final antagonist of Season 7.
He is a dark reflection of FavreMySabre created by Corruption and Soul Steve through the use of Void Steve's own Darkness. Shadow Sabre's sole intention upon his creation was to utilize Sabre's anger and use it to break Sabre so he'd eventually give in to the Darkness. A selfish, deluded, Darkness-obsessed devotee, Shadow Sabre has, on several occasions, "teamed up" with Sabre to defeat greater threats, only to backstab him in favor of pursuing his own goals of reverting the universe to nothing.
You will stop nothing. The only think you will accomplish is dragging this out. As I said, join the Darkness now or we can just continue to talk. This will never end. This will NEVER come to a close. And trust me, no matter how much you think I'll be gone, I'll always be here, in the back of your head, deep in your mind. The subconscious you don't want to think about. I will be here.

~ Shadow Sabre warning Sabre of his everlasting presence.
Shadow Sabre is an entity that exists within Sabre's mind, and although he is named after and shares the same appearance as his counterpart, he acts far more negatively than him. As a member of the Darkness, Shadow Sabre carries their fanatical ideology of nihilistic omnicidal destruction and sees anything that isn't Darkness that agrees with their goals or can be exploited as means to an end. Without a doubt, he is the most devoted member to the Darkness' cause and openly opposes anybody that don't share the Darkness' philosophy. Shadow Sabre's sole purpose is to corrupt Sabre into becoming a monster devoted to the Darkness' cause and uses any opportunity he can when speaking to ramble consistently about the Darkness' superiority over the Steves, even if the discussion doesn't involve the Darkness, as was the case when Sabre returned to Shadow Sabre, the latter claimed that the Darkness would always win, despite Sabre not bringing the subject up.
Despite his cruelty and fanaticism, Shadow Sabre presents himself as calm, level-headed and sophisticated, always speaking in a slow, almost deranged manner, yet never raising his voice in an aggressive manner as to convey his devotion, and instead relied on remaining calm and patient as to appear more intelligent and in control of his surroundings, something he always does when in communication with Sabre as to make him understand that he has more of a say in the matters the two get involved in. Even in the face of the Demon Steves, the original threat the Darkness was created to protect, Shadow Sabre is completely unfazed despite some of the most powerful beings in the world altering the fabric of reality in the very universe he's a part of, placing his faith in the Darkness in the solution that "always wins".
As the original purpose behind his conception was to corrupt Sabre and bring him to the side of the Darkness, Shadow Sabre naturally displays a very manipulative, deceptive and sly attitude, being the bulk of his personality. Any opportunity he gets to talk directly to Sabre about both him and the Darkness will usually end in his snidely remarking about the benefits of joining the Darkness, specifically revolving around the Darkness' goals and the endless potential it could give its users if they choose to give in and accept it. Not only does Shadow Sabre use tactical manipulation skills to try and coerce Sabre into joining the Darkness, but also given the fact that his creation involved a lot of psychological plays on both Soul and Corruption Steve's parts, he's capable of using psychological deception to his advantage to further break Sabre's will and damage his psyche to the point of no return until the only option left for him is the Darkness. Shadow Sabre was also capable of feigning emotions, such as arrogance and extreme rage, as was demonstrated in front of Sabre during their confrontation in his mind, where he staged a breakdown to convince Sabre that his victory was legit.
After being released once more by Sabre to help him combat the Demon Steves, Shadow Sabre uses his manipulation to put on a new facade. In his act, Shadow Sabre appears to possess a high level of honor and willingness to work with his enemies, mainly Sabre (albeit he only initially did so for his own gain). If Sabre's life was in danger, Shadow Sabre would become worried as Sabre's death not only results in him ceasing to exit and not being able to participate alongside the Darkness in their goals, but also doesn't allow him to use a vessel to try to further his own goals. Shadow Sabre will often flip-flop between sides, actively choosing to help Sabre fight against Void Steve, his own master and the creator of the Darkness, simply because he was uninterested in Void Steve's alternative goals of world peace as opposed to omnicide. After being unraveled by Sabre to help him against the Demon Steves, Shadow Sabre is greatly pleased to see Sabre, and whilst initially starting off mockingly and gloatingly, Shadow Sabre's dedication to stop the Demon Steves allowed for his bond between him and Sabre to grow to the point of showing genuine care for the latter when in the face of danger, such as when Void Steve encountered Sabre in the World Below, Shadow Sabre begged for Sabre to run with immense fear in his voice, and since this moment, Shadow Sabre became more friendly towards Sabre and even more willing to work with him for the greater good, although it would later be revealed to all be an act.
After revealing his true nature to Sabre, Shadow becomes increasingly overconfident, egotistical and cunning. With his true devotion to the Darkness on full display, Shadow Sabre's obsession and vengefulness grew tenfold, unearthing his anger towards Sabre as his obsession for a physical form and freedom lead to him becoming vengeful against Sabre for imprisoning him, promising to use the Shadow Sword and the Darkness for its intended purpose. Owing to his arrogance, Shadow Sabre is completely overconfident in his intelligence and ability to plan, believing he was fit to rule the Darkness. Shadow Sabre is completely narcissistic and views himself as above everything, openly telling Sabre that from the day they met Shadow had always wanted to berate Sabre and tell him just how weak and naive he thought he was. Shadow Sabre only grew more and more evil over time, despite claiming to be on the side of "nothing", and although he understands right from wrong, he doesn't see what he does as wrong, although he doesn't believe he qualifies as good or evil. His previous care for the Darkness became completely subsided in favor of his own selfish goals of wiping out all existence solely for his own sick desires and nihilistic gratification. Shadow only fights for himself and sees the Darkness as tools to be used, claiming that he'll use them "correctly" unlike Void and Sabre, serving as a shining example of a Darkness that can do good, but chooses not to.
Although Shadow Sabre is a methodical, calculating and intimidating figure, it doesn't take much to break him, which can be done in the right circumstances, especially if the matter involves power, something that Shadow Sabre takes extremely seriously. When Sabre threatened to destroy the Shadow Sword, Shadow Sabre panicked, pleading with Sabre to hold on to the sword, and later resorted to furiously begging Sabre not to give up the sword before being harshly silenced by him. Although Shadow Sabre does have moments where he raises his voice to voice his frustrations with Sabre's inability to cooperate, it's only when power and the Shadow Sword come into play where Shadow Sabre's anger truly emerges. Shadow Sabre is also not without fear, although he denies it, as when confronted by Void Steve about his true origins, he's completely astounded and unable to say anything else until his connection to Void had been severed. At his core, Shadow Sabre is a complete coward, as he bargains for his life when on the brink of death, pathetically using it as his only attempt at cheating death. After being imprisoned in the depths of Sabre's mind to experience everything, Shadow Sabre unleashed his rage on Sabre and breaking down, stating that all he wanted was nothing.
Biography[]
Creation and first encounter[]
Shadow Sabre's creation process was initially slow, as his being merely a fragment of Void Steve that he pulled from himself and attached to Sabre to infect him. The fragment of Darkness that was Shadow Sabre was slowly formed in Sabre's mind through his anger that came through tragic events. The nails in the coffin for Shadow Sabre's creation would be at Rainbow Steve's funeral, where Sabre unknowingly activated lightning around him in a fit of rage, and when Rainbow Void killed Funny Orange Steve in front of him.
Sabre's anger eventually overwhelms him and transports him to the deepest depths of his mind, first appearing briefly out of his mind in front of a Yellow Steve cowering after Sabre had apparently slaughtered his friends. Before Sabre could properly react he appeared in a monochromatic world in front of a replication of the temple. Shadow Sabre made his presence known to Sabre and introduced himself as his true consciousness, and that he brought Sabre to the temple where Rainbow Steve died to make him re-live the experience and accept the Darkness within his soul. Sabre walked away from his dark counterpart, disgusted in him and rambled about Void Steve being the one at fault for taking so many innocent people away from him. Shadow Sabre rebutted, stating that Sabre only blames Void Steve to make himself feel better for following his false prophecy and pushing it upon his friends, attempting to twist the narrative as Sabre being responsible for Rainbow Steve's corruption and death. Sabre rejected the statement, claiming that although others around him claimed he wasn't at fault, he secretly believed he was, although he says he only did what he did to help the Steves, to which Shadow Sabre responded by claiming that Sabre only wanted to help himself feel better for unleashing chaos into their world. Shadow Sabre revealed that the Yellow Steve Sabre had seen cowering in front of him was no trick, but in fact the result of Sabre's body going on autopilot and falling to the Darkness' control, blindly doing their bidding.
Sabre was left appalled, and refused to believe that he would let himself fall to the Darkness' control and that Rainbow Steve's death was in vain. Upon hearing this, Shadow Sabre chose to transport himself and Sabre to Rainbow Steve's grave. Shadow Sabre acknowledged the many kind words spoken by Sabre and his friends at Rainbow Steve's funeral, but then added the question of if heroes are meant to be destroyed, diminishing Rainbow Steve's sacrifice as pressure put on by Sabre, and that Darkness would do the complete opposite, as the Darkness doesn't choose favorites to single out and doesn't judge since they are one. Shadow Sabre believed that Sabre would want to stay in his mind and not face the happenings in the real world, to which Sabre denied, stating that these places Shadow Sabre was bringing him were miserable, and only did it to make Sabre feel more guilty. Sabre then asked Shadow Sabre, because he was his shadow, why couldn't he understand how Sabre feels and why he wants to the regular world. Shadow Sabre replied by saying that Sabre only wants to get back to the regular world to fix his mistakes and that as long as Sabre believes they're mistakes he'll live with nothing but regret. Sabre countered by stating that regret was normal and that he wouldn't let Shadow Sabre change his mind. He added that the people who came to honor Rainbow Steve didn't do it solely because he was the Hero, but because he was truly a caring friend. Sabre claimed that the world thrives off kindness, and that Darkness acted as a leach on the world. Shadow Sabre, seemingly offended, responded by stating that Darkness was not a leach, nor kind, but one. Sabre comments on Shadow Sabre's manipulative and deluded ideology, claiming that every individual is different and that his belief shouldn't be enforced onto others. Shadow Sabre disregarded Sabre's comments, believing that the Darkness functions, lives and thrives as one, unlike Sabre's crew.
Shadow Sabre continued, stating that Void Steve would encompass the world and unite it as one as an act of love. However, an unamused Sabre rhetorically responded by telling Shadow Sabre to ask the Violet Steves about love, as they are the embodiment of it. Shadow Sabre claimed that the Violet Steves' form of love was warped as to him they "chose favorites", unlike the Darkness, which had no true favorites. Sabre claimed that people chose to keep closest to them, but Shadow Steve asked if the Violet Steves valued love more than bringing people together, and if a Violet Steve would chose to remain true to their beliefs or follow another path. Sabre had enough and confronted Shadow Sabre about his true intentions of trying to break down and ruin Sabre's mentality. Shadow Sabre simply told Sabre to let go of everything, but he refused, prompting Shadow Sabre to bring him to a location where it would be easier for him to let go; the tomb.
Sabre reacted with disbelief and horror at the sight of the tomb, as Shadow Sabre asked why he hated the sight of it, as it was ultimately the thing that brought him and the Steves together. As they reached the bottom of the tomb, Sabre asked what the Darkness' end goal is, to which Shadow Sabre responded by stating that the Darkness' ultimate goal it to wipe out everything in existence, prompting Sabre to realize a few factors that contributed to Void Steve's downfall as the Hero. Shadow Sabre called Void Steve a 'pawn', as although the Darkness was created by Void Steve, they shared opposite goals, as Void Steve wants to become powerful so he can establish peace, whereas the Darkness seeks to eliminate everything in sight to end pain. Sabre merely responded to his doppelganger's claims by insinuating that he was insane, and realized that the Darkness were fooling their master due to their differing beliefs that the latter was unaware of. Shadow Sabre began to talk about the idea that Sabre was the final piece to achieving their goal, and that he could put an end to this, mainly due to the fact that Shadow Sabre acts as a counterpart to Sabre. Sabre ultimately had enough, demanding to be let free, to which Shadow Sabre responded by stating that there was no way out.
Sabre that unknowingly teleported himself to the tower leading to the Middle World, where Shadow Sabre stated that he did so to feel safe. Sabre stated that he would never succumb to the Darkness, regardless of what he was doing in the real world. Shadow Sabre stated that Sabre would accomplish nothing, and that their conversation would never come to a close until he joined. Shadow Sabre approached Sabre, stating that no matter what Sabre does, Shadow Sabre would always remain in the back of his mind. Shadow Sabre asked Sabre what he could see at the bottom of the pit, and upon glancing down, Sabre saw nothing, prompting Shadow Sabre to state that he would be nothing as he pushed him into the hole.
However, instead of dying, Sabre was transported to the original Rainbow Hub, which was still destroyed from Reverse and Dark Steve's arrival to the hub. Shadow Sabre reappears behind Sabre and once again tries to convince Sabre that he is darkness, and that he'll be talking to Sabre until he finally gives in. Sabre refuses, angered by being brought to the destroyed original Rainbow Hub. Sabre stands up to his shadow, refuting his claims of lacking emotion being the better way to live and describing how losing friends and feeling pain is better than having none at all or being emotionless, something Shadow Sabre fails to understand. Shadow Sabre becomes agitated, stating that "one" is everything and encouraging Sabre to join the Darkness. Sabre refuses, knowing that "one" would never work for everyone else except for the Darkness. Shadow Sabre flies into a rage, exclaiming that Rainbow Void and the Darkness will be successful in their vision, but only results in Sabre telling his shadow that even the Darkness feels fear, a fact that infuriates his reflection and fanatically rant about how the Darkness will win. Sabre laughs, seeing Shadow Sabre do what he wanted Sabre to do; break. As Sabre exclaims that he'll always fight back and fight for everyone's choices, Shadow Sabre once again states that Rainbow Void will be victorious, and encourages Sabre one last time to join the Darkness otherwise he'll be stuck talking with Shadow Sabre forever. Sabre accepts Shadow Sabre's terms of re-living all his past memories, but at the cost of Shadow Sabre not being able to do a single thing to him. Shadow Sabre screams in agony as Sabre refuses him altogether, transporting Sabre out of his mind.
Causing trouble in reality[]
However, after resurfacing in the overworld, Sabre discovers that he's been gone for two months. Not only that, but the Steves no longer trust him after seeing what he did while under the control of the Darkness, resulting in Sabre getting locked in a cell by the Violet Leader. As Sabre is wallowing, Shadow Sabre emerges, revealing that he's able to manifest, but only through Sabre's mind, as well as the fact that his "defeat" was a facade made to manipulate Sabre into thinking he'd won. Shadow Sabre then advocated for Sabre to destroy his friends with the weapon he gave him; the Shadow Sword, a sword infused with Darkness as a husked Sabre went on his rampage. Although Sabre uses the sword to break out, he doesn't hurt any Steves. Shadow Sabre watches him escape and follows, identifying himself as Sabre's "companion". Once Sabre is far enough away, Shadow Sabre realizes that he won't be able to convince Sabre to kill Steves so easily and decides to just leave him so he can find Time and Elemental Steve.
Sabre is able to gain contact, but Time and Elemental Steve are somewhat hesitant to trust him. Sabre is brought to the Great Library by Elemental Steve, where he finds it in ruins from the Darkness. Upon discovering that he was the cause of it, Sabre cries out in frustration, summoning Shadow Sabre, who acknowledges the damage he's caused. Shadow Sabre encourages Sabre to use the Shadow Sword if he's going to go against Rainbow Void, and how he can become the leader of the Darkness, but Sabre refuses, stating that he just wants all this turmoil to end. Shadow Sabre tells Sabre that he has no one to turn to and that he has to use the Shadow Sword if he wants to further his goals, and that he needs to accept the sword in order to use it. Although reluctant, Sabre accepts the sword and wanders off until he finds an area where he can test the sword. Shadow Sabre watches, impressed, however, they are interrupted by a Yellow Steve, who witnesses Sabre using the Shadow Sword. Believing him to still be evil, the Yellow Steve runs to a kingdom where the Steves have congregated, and Sabre scolds Shadow Sabre for making him use the sword. Shadow Sabre comes up with a new plan, and tells Sabre that he'll give Sabre his voice so he can pretend he's still on Rainbow Void's side. Sabre accepts as Shadow Sabre runs into him, transferring his voice to him.
After the meeting with Rainbow Void, Sabre demands to have Shadow Steve remove his voice from him, which he does, afterwards, Shadow Steve immediately tries to manipulate Sabre, saying that he secretly enjoyed committing unspeakable atrocities. Sabre ignored him and traveled to the nearby Yellow Steve outpost where he was immediately surrounded by his leather-wearing friend, Yellow Steve and his allies. Sabre tried to talk it out with Yellow Steve, but the latter refused to believe him, causing Shadow Sabre to further try to get Sabre to destroy them. Sabre didn't, and instead, scared them off using the Shadow Sword before destroying the outpost before Soul and Corruption Steve arrived so it would appear as though he had destroyed the Yellow Steves. Shadow Sabre then lends his voice back to Sabre just as Soul and Corruption Steve arrive.
After once again meeting with Rainbow Void, Sabre discovers his plot to demolish the newly formed Rainbow Kingdom and heads there himself to warn the Violet Leader. Shadow Sabre tags along, but is doubtful that Sabre's attempts to reason with the Violet Leader will result in a positive outcome. Sure enough, the Violet Leader didn't believe Sabre when he confessed his innocence and orders the guards to take him away. At that moment, Sabre asked Shadow Sabre to give him a power boost which enabled him to leap out the tower he was in and out of the kingdom. The two later stumbled upon a training camp where they discovered that Light Steve was still active and training his new "Colorless Guards". Sabre became hopeful, seeing that he and Light Steve had a good history together, although Shadow Sabre still doubted him, but didn't protest to Sabre's plan to infiltrate the Rainbow Kingdom disguised as a Colorless Guard to find him. Sabre succeeds in infiltrating the kingdom and meets Light Steve. Shadow Sabre watches their conversation, occasionally interrupting Sabre and causing him to seemingly snap at nothing. When Light Steve recommends that Sabre destroyed the Shadow Sword, Shadow Sabre states that Light Steve is merely jealous of its power and that Sabre has already mastered the sword's power. Sabre exits the Kingdom in disguise and heads back to Void Steve's lair, prompting Shadow Sabre to lend his voice to Sabre so he can go undercover.
After exiting Sabre's body, Sabre enters the Time Dimension to speak to Time and Elemental Steve, although Shadow Sabre doesn't believe they'll help him and encourages him once again to give in to the Darkness. However, the meeting doesn't go well due to Elemental Steve's arrogance and inability to help Sabre. Shadow Sabre lends his voice to Sabre temporarily to speak to Corruption and Soul Steve, but upon witnessing Light Steve looking down on him, he demands Shadow Sabre to exit his body, which he does. However, the Darkness starts charging and Sabre loses it, letting the powers of the Shadow Sword and his anger overwhelm him and he uses the Shadow Sword to destroy the army of Darkness, shocking Shadow Sabre. As Light Steve thanks Sabre for his efforts, Shadow Sabre instantly goes back to trying to manipulate Sabre by stating that his redemption to the Steves will only be temporary. However, Sabre learns that a rumor has spread about him being the one who destroyed Rainbow and Happy Orange Steve, delighting Shadow Sabre as he once again believes he can use this to fool Sabre, claiming that Time and Elemental Steve aren't his friends.
This time when Sabre goes to the Time Dimension, Shadow Sabre follows so he can watch the inevitable argument go down, which it does when Sabre's anger overwhelms him again and he attacks Elemental Steve, prompting Time Steve to kick him out of the Time Dimension, all because he wouldn't let go of the Shadow Sword, which had helped him destroy the Darkness. After being exiled from the Time Dimension, Sabre decides it's time to destroy the Shadow Sword, although Shadow Sabre commands him not to, trying to convince him not to destroy the sword as it gives him power. Sabre finally snaps and explodes at Shadow Sabre in frustration, blaming him for getting in his head. Sabre prepares to drop the sword, causing Shadow Sabre to panic and beg him not to let go of it due to the power it gave him. Sabre begins to hesitate until he is stopped by Green Steve, who he had rescued from the Green Kingdom. Green Steve managed to calm Sabre down and reassure him that he wasn't at fault as Shadow Sabre watched, mocking Sabre for believing he could find redemption.
Defeat and Abandonment[]
Eventually, Shadow Sabre joined Sabre on the attack on Rainbow Void, allowing his power to coarse through Sabre when he reached Rainbow Void's meeting room. During the fight, Sabre became weakened and asked Shadow Sabre for more power, allowing him to take down Rainbow Void and finally kill him for good. Light Steve came down and asked Sabre to hand over the sword. Seeing this as his final opportunity, Shadow Sabre once more tried to convince Sabre not to give him the sword, and just as it seemed to work, Sabre threw the sword at Light Steve, begging for him to destroy it as Shadow Sabre furiously demanded Sabre to take back the sword, but Sabre simply told him to be quiet, stating that he meant nothing to him as they left the lair.
Once Sabre and Light Steve reached the Rainbow Hub, Sabre asked Light Steve to destroy the sword with his lightning. However, the sword was indestructible, causing Shadow Sabre to laugh, as it was connected to him who was a part of Sabre. Seeing that destroying the sword was not able to be destroyed, the two decided to bury it deep below the Rainbow Hub, which would cause Shadow Sabre to be stuck underground with the sword as he was a part of it. Although Shadow Sabre had regained his composure, he was still furious at Sabre for denying the power the Shadow Sword held as Sabre big him farewell and had Light Steve block up the area, sealing Shadow Sabre and the Shadow Sword underground forever.
Although Shadow Sabre was presumed abandoned beneath the Rainbow Hub, he reappears behind a Violet Steve at the Rainbow Kingdom unbeknownst to Sabre, making it seem as though his claims of always being with Sabre held some level of truth.
Return[]
Despite being abandoned for ages, Sabre began facing trouble when Void Steve's old enemies, the Demon Steves returned to the world to wreak havoc upon reality once more. With the knowledge that the Darkness were the only way to defeat the Demon Steves, Shadow Sabre spoke to Sabre through his head, convincing him to return to the Shadow Sword. Sabre returned to the abandoned Rainbow Hub where he and Light Steve had sealed away the Shadow Sword, unearthing it from beneath the floor. After breaking through the stone walls to the Shadow Sword's room, Shadow Sabre greeted Sabre politely. Sabre dismissed his greeting, stating that he didn't even want to come back, although Shadow Sabre replied that he knew Sabre would return eventually, before revealing his knowledge of the Demon Steves and why he never told Sabre about their existence. Although Sabre was frustrated that he had to cooperate with his shadow again, he needed to use Shadow Sabre's assistance, and Shadow Sabre smugly agreed to come along with him.
Sabre recovered the Shadow Sword and Shadow Sabre offered to test out the Shadow Sword's abilities. The two came back to the surface and found a nearby Demon Steve that Shadow Sabre was able to sense, commanding Sabre to accept the Darkness in order to give the sword power. With some reluctance, Sabre finally gave in to the Shadow Sword and used its powers to strike down the Demon Steve, killing it, much to his surprise and Shadow Sabre's pleasure. Seeing that the Shadow Sword was indeed capable of killing the Demon Steves, Sabre and Shadow Sabre returned to the Rainbow Kingdom where Shadow Sabre explained that Sabre should go to the last place he ran into a Demon Steve that caused a crack in reality to summon his friends back, that being the Rainbow Bunker underneath the abandoned library. Shadow Sabre instructed Sabre to take out the sword and concentrate his energy, and to focus on creation rather than destruction to bring back his friends, which ended up working as Sabre was able to summon Light Steve back, although this caused Sabre to have to explain why he had the Shadow Sword. Shadow Sabre told Sabre that in order to bring back his other friends he'd have to allow the Darkness in the Shadow Sword to take control, although Sabre refused and decided to look for another way.
The three returned to the Rainbow Kingdom and went into the citadel where they came up with a plan to get the Shadow Sword to balance out its energy with that of the Rainbow Crystal, so that the crystal could give the kingdom its energy and that the sword could give power from the Darkness to prevent the Demon Steves from arriving, although the two would be forced to balance each other out. Despite the hesitation, Sabre plugged in the Shadow Sword to the energy output, allowing both the sword and the crystal to mix their energies to keep the Demon Steves from entering the kingdom, returning all the residents of the Rainbow Kingdom. With this, Sabre decided to return his friend M back to his village of Red Steves, and Shadow Sabre followed. However, Sabre was discovered by the Red Leader and teleported away, however, his teleportation was intercepted by Void Steve, who pulled Sabre and Shadow Sabre to the World Below where the Demon Steves originated from. However, Shadow Sabre warned Sabre to run, prompting Void Steve to teleport him back to the overworld, revealing that he was now capable of seeing Shadow Sabre.
Void Steve eventually teleported Sabre back to the overworld after the two had a conversation, and both Sabre and Shadow Sabre reunited, although they were quickly intercepted by Demon Steves. Although they didn't have the Shadow Sword, Sabre had an iron sword, and Shadow Sabre told him that he had used the Shadow Sword enough times to where he was capable of using its energy by himself. Now that the two were lost in the middle of nowhere, Shadow Sabre, out of the blue, told Sabre that he was able to teleport due to the Shadow Sword's powers. Sabre was able to use these abilities to teleport back to the Rainbow Kingdom, although he indirectly revealed them to Light Steve. As Sabre arrived, Light Steve explained that they had to inform the leaders about the Shadow Sword, and it ended up not resonating well with them and they decided to return back to their respective kingdoms in fear of the Darkness returning, but expected Sabre to eventually separate the Rainbow Crystal so that they could return to their normal lives once again, thus disbanding the Rainbow Kingdom entirely.
After the kingdom disbanded, Sabre, Light Steve and Shadow Sabre returned to Sabre's house before a colorless scout ran into the kingdom, warning Sabre about an incoming army of Demon Steves. Seeing that they could easily break into the kingdom, Sabre decided to terraform the kingdom using the Shadow Sword, and Shadow Sabre agreed to help him, explaining how to use the Shadow Sword's energy to level the kingdom, and Sabre succeeded, wiping out the entirety of the kingdom except for the citadel, allowing Sabre to spot the Demon Steves coming towards the kingdom. Sabre jumped down as Shadow Sabre followed, preparing to hold the Demon Steves off and managing to successfully kill an entire fleet of Demon Steves, with Shadow Sabre giving him a boost in power. Both Sabre and Shadow Sabre felt concerned due to the fact that the fleet they defeated were very easy to fight off, and their concerns were validated when Void Steve, now fully corrupted, arrived at the scene. Shadow Sabre was utterly shocked at his master's return, only managing to stammer a few words. Soon, Sabre requested for Shadow Sabre to merge with him, and he complied, amplifying Sabre's strength.
As Sabre went to attack Void Steve, Void inadvertently baited Sabre into falling into the Darkness, rendering him unconscious and transported into his mind with Shadow Sabre, reflecting on their loss. Sabre acknowledged that Shadow had previously thought so highly of the Darkness, but was now seemingly afraid of Void Steve, although Shadow Sabre denied, stating that he feared nothing, but was highly disturbed of Void Steve and his grasp on Sabre and Shadow. This lead Sabre to realize that Void Steve was still planning on making Sabre his heir to the Darkness, and that the siege of Demon Steves sent were merely a test. Seeing that Sabre wasn't consumed by the Darkness and hadn't been corrupted by it despite nearly falling to it, the two returned to the overworld and were awakened by Light Steve, who mentioned that Void had merely laughed in their faces before leaving. Before they could do anything else, lightning was heard from the crystal room in the citadel and discovered that the Darkness was beginning to spread from its placeholder. Upon inspection, Shadow Sabre concluded that the Shadow Sword was acting much stronger than the Rainbow Crystal, which was unable to hold off its energy, which could result in unleashing the Darkness into the world once more.
Shadow Sabre advised Sabre to build a machine to encompass the Darkness, but Sabre cut him off, as this was an issue he had to deal with as quick as possible. Seeing that they needed a quick solution, Shadow Sabre stated that there was another way, but that Sabre wouldn't be able to turn back if he went through with it, and would have to absorb the Darkness and hold it off, allowing for the Shadow Sword to grow more energy without spreading. Sabre decided to go along with the plan and absorbed some of the Darkness, allowing for the already spreading Darkness to recede back into the Shadow Sword. Sabre decided that the best course of action would be to learn more about the Demon Steves, and took Shadow Sabre to the Middle World, delighting the former as he was ecstatic to see it in all its glory. Upon entering the Middle World, Sabre and Shadow were directed to the World Beyond by Indigo Steve where they located the Great Librarian in search for knowledge about the Demon Steves' origins.
With the knowledge of the Demon Steves' backgrounds, Sabre and Shadow returned to the overworld where they entered the citadel, discovering that the Darkness was spreading even more. Shadow Sabre was unable to provide Sabre with an ultimatum, as he still knew that the Darkness was the only solution for combating the Demon Steves. Shadow suggested for Sabre to use the Darkness within himself and condense it into a crystal, similar to how the Light Crystal was created. Sabre took the Shadow Sword and condensed the Darkness within himself to create the Dark Crystal, although it only allowed for the Darkness on his body to spread more. Seeing that Sabre was confused on how Void Steve was able to see Shadow, Shadow explained that Sabre would have to look deeper into himself, retaliating against the bad things the Darkness had done and telling Sabre that he could try using the Darkness as a force of good. Sabre was highly upset, as he didn't want to fall into the Darkness, but Shadow explained that it was because Sabre feared the Darkness.
Shadow then took Sabre into the Darkness and tasked Sabre with focusing his senses, however, Shadow was able to sense Void Steve's connection, and opened it, revealing the connection between the Darkness and the World Below. Sabre was confused about Void Steve's previous claims of creating Shadow Sabre, but Void explained that he partially lied about creating him, and was instead brought to life through Void Steve fragmenting himself, which formed Shadow Sabre, astonishing the latter as he realized that he was a part of Void Steve, although he couldn't sense any control of Void. Soon after revealing Shadow Sabre's origins, Void disconnected the connection, frightening Shadow Sabre as he realized his true power. As Sabre was upset at the fact that no Steves aside from Light were helping him, Shadow stated that Sabre would have to look deeper into the Darkness to find more allies, instructing Sabre to go into the second layer of the Darkness and out of the sub-layer as he mocked Sabre for protesting to fall into the Darkness despite using the Shadow Sword, relying on Shadow Sabre for help and creating the Dark Crystal before teleporting Sabre to the second layer of the Darkness where they were able to find Dark Steve and successfully recreate him in the physical world via the Dark Crystal.
Upon being recruited, Sabre decided that it would only be right to make Shadow physical as well, as he had proved to be a useful unit, and used the Dark Crystal to grant him physicality, much to his delight as he claimed he was finally able to feel. Just as he had this revelation, Void Steve arrived and taunted the trio before summoning several Demon Steves that they were able to easily combat. Sabre decided that it was time to venture to the World Below, and took Shadow and Dark Steve by sealing them into the Dark Crystal and carrying it to the World Below, where Shadow was able to teach Sabre how to fly by merging himself with Sabre, finding Void Steve's palace. Upon their arrival, Sabre killed Void Steve, but was surprised to see that he managed to resurrect himself before he forcefully sealed Shadow and Dark Steve into the Dark Crystal and talked to Sabre briefly before teleporting him back to the overworld where he was able to let the two free, much to their dismay as they realized how powerful Void Steve had become.
After failing to kill Void Steve, the trio met with the Red Leader's scientist, Professor Red, whom Shadow found to be quite odd. Soon after, Shadow, Dark and Sabre arrived at an empty field where Shadow stopped Sabre, stating that he sensed Void Steve manifesting at the Steve kingdoms with the Demon Steves. In a panic, Shadow Sabre commanded Sabre to focus his senses on the four locations and summon the Darkness to arrive at the locations, which he managed to do until the Darkness was able to destroy the Demon Steves and return to Sabre. Afterwards, Professor Red approached Sabre and forcefully teleported him to his laboratory, alongside Shadow and Dark, who retreated into the Dark Crystal as Sabre and Professor Red talked.
Revealing his true nature[]
Sabre returned to the Rainbow Kingdom and stole the Rainbow Crystal he used it to revert Void Steve to his near-mortal state, and summoned Dark and Shadow from the crystal as they began to attack Void Steve with lightning. Unfortunately for them, Void managed to fully regenerate, leaving the three alone as the leaders arrived to take their respective shards of the crystal. Shadow Sabre advised Sabre to watch his emotions and focus before moving on to reaching out to Time Steve. However, Elemental arrived instead in defiance, forcing Dark and Shadow to retreat into the Dark Crystal as Sabre and Elemental engaged in a fight. After Time arrived and persuaded Sabre to leave them be, Dark and Shadow appeared from the Dark Crystal alongside M and Professor Red from nearby. Suddenly, Shadow pulled Sabre aside and warned him that something was happening at the citadel, trying to get Sabre to leave, but he couldn't as he didn't want to leave M and give a bad impression. In a flash, Sabre decided that Shadow should go instead, as he was a partial extension of himself. Shadow Sabre left for the citadel and retrieved the Shadow Sword, ready to finally put his plan into action.
Shadow Sabre waited until he could interfere with Sabre and Void Steve's fight, arriving just as Void was about to kill Sabre. Void eagerly greeted Shadow, calling him his creation and prompting Shadow to hatefully strike him down with the Shadow Sword, killing him definitively. As Sabre brought the team together, Shadow began to laugh maniacally after Sabre asked for the Shadow Sword, declaring that he was no one's shadow before teleporting back to the overworld. As the person with enough energy, Dark Steve teleported himself, Sabre and Time to Shadow's location where he revealed that he had been following Sabre's command so that he could build his trust and gain a physical form. Sabre stated that he found the core of the Darkness and what it really stood for, only for Shadow to rebuttal that he was the embodiment of Sabre and was deserving of wielding the Darkness. Although Sabre pleaded with Shadow to give him the sword and start over, Shadow declined and promised Sabre that they would cross paths again someday before teleporting away.
After betraying Sabre, Shadow retreated to a large hill where he constructed a large machine to produce Darkness. Shadow Sabre reveled in his machine and desire to take over the world and turn it into nothing before talking to himself more. As if he were talking to Sabre, Shadow commented on the frustrations he faced as he watched Sabre imprison and taunt him after Void Steve's first death, but was now able of achieving his goals now that he was physical. With the next step in his plan ready, Shadow Sabre used the Shadow Sword to summon Dark Steve to him, which brainwashed Dark into being under Shadow's control.
Shadow Sabre returns to check in on Sabre, only to discover that he had locked himself away in a machine. Due to all the pressures and uncertainty Sabre had been facing, he asked Time Steve to construct a machine and lock him in it, so he can dive into his own head and overcome his fears as he travelled through the four corners of his mind; everything, nothing, fear and peace. Sabre, being guided by Origin Steve in the peace section of his mind, sees from an outside perspective that Shadow was attacking Time Steve. He is able to wake up and switch places with Shadow. This brief capture is short-lived as the brainwashed Dark Steve breaks him free. Shadow Sabre taunts his counterpart once again, before disappearing.
Defeat and imprisonment[]
The next day, Sabre is able to pinpoint the location of Shadow's tower, and teleport there. He is ambushed by Shadow Sabre and Dark Steve. Dark stays behind, while the two Sabres have their final battle. It's an even match, with both fighters duplicating and using each other's attacks. Shadow, at one point, is able to give Sabre a hard attack, bashing him into the ground with fireballs. Sabre is ultimately able to overpower Shadow, trapping him in a cage. Dark Steve is able to resist Shadow's control, refusing to be his pawn anymore. Sabre uses his powers to send Shadow back where he belongs; in his mind.
Sabre and Shadow Sabre return to the four corners of the mind. Sabre banishes Shadow to the "everything" section of his mind, where all of his knowledge resides. This is very vindictive and ironic, seeing as "nothing" was also another corner of his mind. Shadow is unable to exit this area, due to Sabre having control of the domain and not allowing it. Being trapped in the mindscape also caused Shadow Sabre to lose his connection to the Shadow Sword, so he won't be destroyed when the sword is destroyed. Shadow's sole goal was to essentially cease to exist, to become nothingness, one with the darkness. But as punishment for trying to erase the rest of the world, killing other innocent people along with it, Shadow is forced to be trapped in Sabre's mind, exploring it, as Sabre puts it, "until the end of time."
Sabre makes the Shadow Sword destroys itself. But the Darkness itself isn't destroyed. Instead, it's spread evenly throughout the world, so it can never build up to such a degree that it would become the evil that it was. This sadly kills Dark Steve, or at least destroys his physical form. Dark Steve is also evaporated and spread throughout the world alongside the rest of the Darkness.
Shadow Sabre's latest appearance was in Rainbow Quest episode 278, Creating the LAST Hero when Time Steve, Light Steve, and Sabre were turning Light Steve into the hero.

Quotes[]
Season 3[]
“
Shadow Sabre: You don't know? You don't even know where you are? Isn't it obvious? Sabre: Wha-... Who said that? Shadow Sabre: It's me. Your shadow.
„
~ Sabre and Shadow Sabre meet.
“
I don't want anything, I'm simply your conscious. I'm now showing you what you always see.
„
~ Shadow Sabre stating his intentions.
“
Your mind has brought you to the place you fear the most. You witnessed your best friend be destroyed before your very eyes. Now you must witness it again. Witness it and understand why it happened. Understand why it had to happen, and accept the Darkness in your soul.
„
~ Shadow Sabre explaining why he and Sabre are at the temple.
“
Oh? Then why am I here, Sabre? I am already here because you've let the Darkness into your soul. Can't you see what Soul and Corrupt have been doing? They didn't need to get into your mind to corrupt you. You corrupted yourself.
„
~ Shadow Sabre responding to Sabre's claims of never letting the Darkness into his soul.
“
You blame him? You blame him for the thoughts of your own? He may have created the prophecy but you followed it blindly. You followed the prophecy. You pushed it upon your friends, and you made Rainbow Steve into the monster he became. You are the reason the crystals gave themselves back to Void.
„
~ Shadow Sabre starts manipulating Sabre and twisting the narrative.
“
You did whatever you wanted to feel better about yourself. Brought into a situation of fear. You caved. You wanted to help yourself.
„
~ Shadow Sabre
“
YOU WANTED TO HELP YOURSELF. You... are the epitome of Darkness. You let it thrive. You gave them avenues to thrive. The kingdoms have fallen. YOU have fallen.
„
~ Shadow Sabre
“
It's as real as you want it to be. We're inside of your mind. The Darkness has taken control, just as it always should. Now you must come to terms with it. Become one.. under the dark rule.
„
~ Shadow Sabre
“
A trick? I assure you, none of this is a trick. This is as real as you can tell. As real as anything else. You think Void Steve's trying to make you think this isn't happening? You saw the Yellow Steve, didn't you? As the Darkness took over, you escaped momentarily. You witnessed your actions in the regular world. The Darkness controls you even now. Even in this very moment, YOU are ruining the lives of all the Steves you cared about.
„
~ Shadow Sabre revealing that Sabre had indeed witnessed his body threatening a Yellow Steve's life.
“
Rainbow Steve? His actions? You truly think you can turn this around... You think you're a hero, don't you? Let me show you what's actually happening.
„
~ Shadow Sabre before taking Sabre to Rainbow Steve's grave.
“
You and all of your friends truly had a heartwarming moment, saying such kind words for who was supposed to be a hero. Are heroes meant to be destroyed? Are heroes meant to be an ultimate sacrifice? These moral judgements you put upon others have to be questioned. Darkness does not judge. Darkness does not choose favorites. Darkness... is one, just are you are right now. Your worry of the regular world is gone as long as you stay here.
„
~ Shadow Sabre addressing Rainbow Steve's fate.
“
You only want to get back to the regular world to fix your mistakes. As long as you believe they were mistakes in the first place, you will live with regrets.
„
~ Shadow Sabre what will happen if Sabre leaves to go back to the regular world.
“
Darkness is no leach. Darkness is not kind. But Darkness... is one.
„
~ Shadow Sabre stating that the Darkness is "one".
“
Darkness, light, say whatever you want. At the end of the day, WE are one. We FUNCTION as one. and we THRIVE as one. You and your rag-tag team of friends have such a hard time even communicating with each other! Your thorns in our side. Void Steve aims to engulf this world in Darkness, as though it was a warm blanket, a warming blanket of love.
„
~ Shadow Sabre attempting to justify Void Steve and the Darkness' actions as 'love'.
“
Their form of love is warped. They still choose favorites. True love has NO true favorites. If you were to love unconditionally, you would have to love all. Which would mean that you would love none. Would you love none? Don't you want to pick favorites, Sabre? Those who you value more than others?
„
~ Shadow Sabre talking about his viewpoint on love.
“
Your statement on the Violet Steves is so ironic. I wonder, do Violet Steves value love more than bringing those together? When push comes to shove, will a Violet Steve choose to stay on his moral values? Or will they choose another path? Your definition of love is different from ours. Ours is different from theirs. Love is not a universal definition, Sabre.
„
~ Shadow Sabre contemplating the Violet Steves and how they would stray from their ideologies.
“
No one is universally good, "good" by your standards. You have to break rules. You have to break a moral value to keep another one on a pedestal. Now don't you wish you could let it all go? Let go, Sabre. Let go.
„
~ Shadow Sabre talking about the concept of 'good'.
“
Let me show you how easy it is to let go. I'll take you to a place where it'll make it that much easier to make the decision. Follow me.
„
~ Shadow Sabre before transporting himself and Sabre to the tomb.
“
A sight for sour eyes, is it not? Tell me, why would you even hate seeing this? If it weren't for this tomb you were lured into you wouldn't have met any of yours friends.
„
~ Shadow Sabre after taking Sabre to the tomb.
“
Conflictions are so normal for those who choose to not be one. Your opinions, your feelings, they lead you to make choices. All we can do, all YOU can do, is react, and act.
„
~ Shadow Sabre talking about conflictions due to Sabre's changing opinions about the tomb after learning that Void Steve was the Blue Spirit.
“
The fact that we exist is a problem. Darkness aims to remove all from the world, and remove the world from all. Nothing should exist, for even existence is pain. Don't you want to remove that pain, Sabre?
„
~ Shadow Sabre talking about the Darkness.
“
Void Steve is yet another pawn in all of this. We may have been created by him. He may believe he controls the Darkness. And yet even he has emotion. Void Steve aims to once again gain the power he lost. But power is the reason everything feels pain. For without power there will be no pain. Without energy there will be nothing. No longer a fight for peace, for peace is not everlasting.
„
~ Shadow Sabre revealing the Darkness' true motivations.
“
Of course. I am at peace with that. I look forward to nothing. For when nothing comes I will have achieved my goal. We will have achieved our goal. You think even Void Steve wants this? Void Steve will no longer control us after we have obtained one final piece. Steves are a piece of the puzzle, and yet no one's looking at the greater picture, are they? You think you're fighting for good? So does Void Steve. We fight for nothing, for nothing is all.
„
~ Shadow Sabre accepting his eventual fate, as it will ensure that the Darkness will achieve their goal.
“
You're all monsters. We hate you all, except for you. You went into this world of Void Steve's volition. You could be the final piece. Please, here us out! I hope you know that you can blend in to all of this. There's a reason why I'm your shadow, Sabre. I'm you, you are me. I am only the opposite spectrum. You fight for good, I guess that that would make you think I fight for evil. But my evil.. my evil is good. Darkness is my light.
„
~ Shadow Sabre explaining why Sabre could be the final piece to the Darkness' plan.
“
You think there's an exit? No, no, no. We couldn't have this conversation forever, Sabre. This IS Darkness. You misunderstand! This IS Darkness!
„
~ Shadow Sabre rambling about the Darkness as Sabre searches for an exit.
“
Your mind is making connections. Your mind is trying to make you feel safe, taking you to places you would understand. But the Darkness is taking over. The Darkness is manipulating those memories and bringing you where you need to be.
„
~ Shadow Sabre after taking Sabre to the tower to the Middle World.
“
I don't need your permission, Sabre. We are simply trying to get you to understand, understand that this is going to happen, understand that you don't have a choice.
„
~ Shadow Sabre telling Sabre that one way or another, he WILL fall to the Darkness.
“
Shadow Sabre: You will stop nothing. The only thing you will accomplish is dragging this out. As I said, join the Darkness now or we can just continue to talk. This will never end. This will NEVER come to a close. And trust me, no matter how much you think I'll be gone, I'll always be here, in the back of your head, deep in your mind. The subconscious you don't want to think about. I will be here. Now tell me, if this is the tower, what do you see at the bottom of its pit? Sabre: What? I... I see.. I-- at the bottom? I don't know, I-.. I don't--... I see nothing! Shadow Sabre: And soon, you'll be nothing.
„
~ Shadow Sabre warning Sabre that he'll never be gone before tricking Sabre into looking down the hole of the tower to push him in.
“
You thought I was pushing you into Darkness. Again, Sabre, you misunderstand... You are Darkness. We'll keep doing this as much as you want, but all it takes is for you to finally understand. Fall into the Darkness, Sabre.
„
~ Shadow Sabre after taking Sabre to the ruins of the original Rainbow Hub.
“
I know it will, I know you'll fall, I'll be here until you do. Forever.
„
~ Shadow Sabre
“
"One" is the answer, Sabre... Listen to me! Join me! You know this is the right path!
„
~ Shadow Sabre attempting to manipulate Sabre yet again, but this time it's weaker due to Sabre's strong will.
“
You... You... You-- You know that Darkness will prevail, Sabre! Even Rainbow Void, who has lost his own vision, will still take over! Even if we DON'T!
„
~ Shadow Sabre starting to lose his temper.
“
THE DARKNESS FEARS NOTHING! The Darkness is one! The Darkness WILL take over and be one true feeling! You wan't other feelings? You wanna feel emotions? We wanna feel nothing! WE CRAVE NOTHING!
„
~ Shadow Sabre's "villainous breakdown".
“
Void Steve, just like the rest of you, is a piece of the puzzle. WE WILL NOT FALL. HE is going to take over the world and when he does WE will take the rest. We will take over EVERYTHING you care for. Join the Darkness now, Sabre! Or else you will be stuck in eternity talking to me! RELIVING these horrible memories!
„
~ Shadow Sabre promising that Void Steve will be successful and giving Sabre one last chance to join the Darkness.
“
No... NOOOOOOOOO! NOOOOOO!...
„
~ Shadow Sabre's last words before Sabre is teleported out of his mind, leaving Shadow Sabre alone.
“
You see what they've done? They've betrayed you. They no longer trust you.
„
~ Shadow Sabre revealing himself to still be alive.
“
I told you, Sabre. I will always be here. I'm in your mind. I'm a projection of you. I will always be by your side, a companion, forever.
„
~ Shadow Sabre stating that he'll always be by Sabre's side.
“
Oh, was I freaking out? My bad, I guess it was to get you to think you had won. But deep down, I'll always be a part of you, Sabre. I'll be in your mind. I'll be your conscious. I'll tell you what you truly think, and what you truly think right now is that you sure wish you could just.. Take anyone in your way out. Now, why don't you do it? Lure them in, destroy them, like you did when the Darkness was in control.
„
~ Shadow Sabre revealing that he was pretending to be defeated and encouraging Sabre to kill his friends.
“
I will never leave you alone. I will haunt you for the rest of your life. But don't worry, think of me as a companion, here to tell you how to keep moving forward. Don't you want some help?
„
~ Shadow Sabre
“
I told you Sabre, I'm here to help. They don't wanna help you, they wanna ruin you, they need someone to blame, and they'll blame you for all of it.
„
~ Shadow Sabre announcing his intent to help.
“
Shadow Sabre: You haven't noticed, have you? You haven't noticed what's in your hands. Sabre: What're you talking about? Shadow Sabre: Look, Sabre. (Sabre draws the Shadow Sword) Yes, good. The Shadow Sword stays with you, given to you while you were controlled by the Darkness. It was the accumulation of the Darkness you controlled, put into a sword, for you to do with whatever you want. Sabre: The Shadow Sword?... I--I don't.. think I should use this.. I feel like if I use this it'd go against everything I'm fighting for. Shadow Sabre: The Shadow Sword gives you abilities beyond what you can do normally. Your natural abilities are nothing. The Shadow Sword will become an extension of yourself. How else do you think you destroyed everyone so easily? At first, it started with basic weapons, but then as you took those people away, as you destroyed them, the weapon turned into something more... The Shadow Sword.
„
~ Shadow Sabre describing the Shadow Sword and its history.
“
It is not just a sword. It is a living thing, just as the Darkness is. Darkness controls all. Darkness controls the sword. Use the sword, Sabre. Aim it at the wall, escape in a second, Yellow Steve over there won't be able to catch you. OR... Stay behind, destroy them while you're at it.
„
~ Shadow Sabre explaining how the Shadow Sword is different than a regular sword.
“
Fine, that's okay. Do whatever you need to do, Sabre. Don't forget, if you want any tips or tricks with it, feel free to ask me.
„
~ Shadow Sabre accepting that Sabre won't use the sword to cause harm, but recommending that he ask him for help if he needs it.
“
Sabre, where do you think you're going? We've been wandering for a while now. Don't you think you should go and find some more people? Some more Steves? Maybe you'll remember why you wanted to destroy them.
„
~ Shadow Steve after following Sabre.
“
Shadow Sabre: Fine, fine, fine... Just keep going. You'll see anyways... Sabre: See what? Shadow Sabre: You'll see.
„
~ Shadow Sabre accepting that Sabre won't be so easily convinced.
“
Of course it was you, Sabre.. You've done a lot. You've done more damage than Void ever could have. Interesting, isn't it? He's created so many monsters, including you.
„
~ Shadow Sabre after seeing Sabre distraught at the Great Librarian's death.
“
Good... Use that... Use the abilities given to you! Rainbow Void is only a piece of the puzzle, you can be the one to right it all, you can be the leader of Darkness, you have the capacity, the ability, the power...
„
~ Shadow Sabre tries again to tempt Sabre into giving in to the Darkness.
“
Of course, of course! You're alone! You have no other choice! You have to do what you need to do, Sabre. That sword is yours... That sword is an extension of yourself. You can control it and only you... Trust me, I'm YOU.
„
~ Shadow Sabre
“
The sword holds all the properties you need to win any battle. All you need to do is accept it. Accept the sword unconditionally, Sabre, and you can defeat anybody.
„
~ Shadow Sabre encouraging Sabre to accept the Shadow Sword.
“
You already have used the sword, all you need to do is keep using it. You are scared of the Darkness? Fine. If you're so confident then the Darkness won't even get to you anyways. If that's the case you should be able to use the sword without repercussions, am I wrong? Or are you too weak?
„
~ Shadow Sabre
“
The sword grows as you grow, Sabre. It's up to you to choose your path. Choose the path that will lead you to victory, unite everyone, that's what you want, right?
„
~ Shadow Sabre
“
Of course... Off in that distance is your path to victory, Sabre. Upon that horizon you will lead everyone to victory. All you need to show is your power.
„
~ Shadow Sabre
“
I can show you... Use the sword, Sabre, take it out. Using the sword is not as hard as you think, you've used it before, the only difference now is you have to do the work yourself.
„
~ Shadow Sabre teaching Sabre how to use the Shadow Sword.
“
In due time you will find out the power of the sword, it will grow exponentially as you do, the more you accept it, the more it will accept you. Use the sword, channel the energy, it'll come naturally. All you have to do is be willing.
„
~ Shadow Sabre
“
Oh, that is nothing, Sabre. That's only the beginning, but it looks as though you have quite the step-up, you're able to do this quicker than I thought.
„
~ Shadow Sabre commending Sabre for using the Shadow Sword.
“
You're right, not in this kingdom... But, Rainbow Void may still believe you're on his side. You may be able to infiltrate him, talk to him, help the Steves from within...
„
~ Shadow Sabre telling Sabre to go undercover.
“
While I may crave nothing the end goal, I am still now permanently a part of you. I need you alive for now, which means that you can't be caught, even to me. It's important you stay undercover.
