Shattered Dream is the main antagonist and evil form of Dream Sans in Shattered Dream.
Story[]
In a battle between Dream and Nightmare, Nightmare mocks Dream, astounded that his brother would have the courage to fight him. Nightmare knows that he himself will not show any ounce of mercy, conscious of the fact that they are still rivals. He ignores the fact that Dream still cares about him, and unleashes painful wrath upon him, leaving him for dead.
Later on, Dream is revealed to have survived the encounter, and decides to call Nightmare, intending to meet with him for a positive purpose. Nightmare thinks the opposite, thinking this is all a mere trap.
Nevertheless, they meet up, and Dream shows that he can hold a dark apple without turning it gold. It is forbidden for the twins to hold the other's apple—In the past, Nightmare has touched a golden apple. This action turned it into a negative presence, disrupting the overture balance between positivity and negativity.
Nightmare scoffs at him, not impressed by his petty tricks.
Dream claims that he knows how Nightmare feels, trying to give validation to his brother's problems and emotions. Nightmare defensively calls Dream a liar, stuck on the assumption that no one can understand him. Dream is so confident in his claim; he decides to consume the dark apple, just as Nightmare did long ago.
Nightmare watches in denial, desperately trying to take his said words back. Dream emotionally challenges Nightmare, asking if this is how he felt.
Nightmare pleads, in his terror, that Dream comes back. Shattered, the "new-and-improved" Dream, tells him that Dream won't be coming back, having ventured too far. Nightmare realizes that he can't do anything to stop what Dream is going through. He can't apologize, he can't plead, he can't hope.. though he finally comes to his senses.
Having realizing this, he reverts back to his true form, forever weeping the loss of his twin brother.
