Shenzi, Banzai and Ed are a group of mirror villains in the Character What franchise and the secondary antagonists from Disney's 1994 full-length animated feature The Lion King.
Character What: The Adventures[]
Shenzi, Banzai and Ed made their first appearance in The Lion King, which their role is similar to the original film. However, they appeared at the time when Simba is now a adult. Due the shortage of food because of the Hyenas overhunting, the Prides Lands became a droughted wasteland and the animals had move on. The trios inform Scar that there is no more water or food in the Pride Lands and the that lionesses are now refusing to follow his orders (to which Scar neglects). Banzai secretly confesses to both Shenzi and Ed that things were much better under Mufasa's reign than Scar's. A young adult Simba returns to the Pride Lands to reclaim his throne as the rightful king, Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed grow worried when Scar learns that they failed to kill Simba years ago. Despite this, they continue their loyalty to Scar by aiding him in the battle, but most of the Hyenas are defeated by the lionesses, while Shenzi and Banzai are senselessly beaten up by Pumbaa for attempting to eat Timon and Zazu and calling a "pig" while Ed watches in horror. Shenzi, Banzai and Ed follow Scar and Simba at the top of Pride Rock to back up Scar. However, Scar fearfully tries to thrust all blame by claiming that Mufasa's demise was all their idea. Unknown to Scar, Shenzi. Banzai and Ed overheard Scar treachery against them, and leaves to inform the rest of the Hyena Clan about Scar's betrayal. After Scar was thrown off Pride Rock by Simba, he is surrounded by hyenas and believes them are still his "friends". However, Shenzi reveal that they overheard about Scar calling them the enemy. As a now worried Scar realized that he is in danger and tries to explain that he didn't mean what he say, Shezi, Banzai, Ed and the entire Hyena Clan have had enough of his broken promises and never going hungry again, they leap on Scar and mauled him to death as they are presumably engulfed by fire.
Character What: Tales[]
In Bambi and the Lion King, it is revealed that they survived and didn't perished in the fire after devouring Scar alive. They still roam in the Elephant Graveyard while the rest of the Hyena Clan escaped from the Pride Lands. When Bambi and Faline were lost and founded themselves in the Elephant Graveyard, the hyenas are still starving and chase the two young fawns in an attempt to devour them. The hyenas yet again captured Zazu and place into a "birdie boiler" for a second time. Shenzi catches up with Faline and tries to kill her when she gets kicked by Bambi, which receive her with a black eye. The hyenas manages to corner the fawns, Bambi attempts to scare them away by using his brave roar, but his roar sounds nothing more than a bleating lamb and not good for intimidation. However, the hyenas found his roar so humorous they tell Bambi to do it again. Bambi roars again but this time makes a loud roar, which actually came from Simba, who came to rescue the fawns and fights the hyenas. After defeating the Hyenas, Simba warms them to never return to the Pride Lands, which they flee and was never seen again in the remainder of the episode, implying they actually escaped from Pride Lands, not wanting to dealt with Simba ever again.
Character What: Chronicles[]
In one episode, Shenzi, Banzai and Ed confront Shadow Joe, Dawn, and Twilight Sparkle when they were walking through a construction site. Bambi interferes by teasing the hyenas for how silly they all are, causing them to chase Bambi and intent to eat him alive. Bambi lead the hyenas into a pipe, and pushes it down a slope with them still inside.
