Shinto is an opponent and original character introduced in Friday Night Funkin' Lullaby. She is the opponent of Grey in the songs, Shinto and Shitno.
She is a Hypno Bootleg that hails from a bootleg Pokémon game while having a goofy smile and a dark secret. Although she's unbeatable, certain players can hack the game and catch her, which has drastic consequences.

Shinto[]
Shinto resembles Hypno with a few exceptions such as having a voided mouth and eyes, no tuft of fur on her chest, a large round nose, and no hands or feet, with her limbs simply ending in rounded nubs.
Shitno[]
As Shitno, her pixelated sprites are replaced with a 3D model, with originally empty eyes now featuring glowing pupils, while her skin becomes far more detailed.
Personality[]
Shinto is a goofy, friendly, and funny bootleg version of Hypno who gladly sang with the player (aka. you controlling Grey) during Shinto and also opts to simply leave the player behind after laughing at them should they get a game over. However, when she gets caught, Shinto drops all pretenses of comedy and accuses the trainer of cheating, something she absolutely hates.
Shinto also becomes very serious and will not stop until every "cheater" is punished, with Grey as an example after catching her by "cheating".

- Shinto is one of the only original characters in the mod (alongside Grey and Alexis), and the only original opponent. Every other character has some basis in a pre-existing piece of Pokémon horror media.
- It is a common misconception that Shinto got the nickname of "Shitno" due to her uncanny resemblance to human feces during said song. This is actually a nickname given to her by players who hated her battle for being humanely impossible, as her Pokédex entry says. It was also explicitly confirmed she's not composed of feces.[1]
- Shitno's name originated from the developers jokingly referring to the 3D model as being shit, but when it was decided to give her a friendly form, the name was changed to Shinto, while Shitno was kept as the name for its monster form.[2]
- Shinto is canonically a lesbian.[3] She can be seen interacting and potentially flirting with Coronation Peach in the background of Pasta Night.
- Shinto can cook.[4]
- Shitno was going to feature a mechanic that would've caused the background and sprites to mess up, which would've been taken to the extreme at the end of the song, where Shitno causes the GameBoy to overload and bit-crush both Grey and Shitno, resulting in both painfully dying.[5]
- Shinto's first Pokédex entry pretty clearly seems to have been written by her. This is the only Pokédex entry to do this, though Hell Bell also seems to have modified its entry to a lesser degree.
- Shinto was made as a joke before eventually becoming an actual character.
