This villain was proposed and approved on the Near Pure Evil Wiki to be close to being a Complete Monster/Pure Evil. While these villains may not be Complete Monsters, they certainly come close. Only villains who have been approved on that wiki can be in the Near Pure Evil Category and have this template. Those who haven't been proposed/approved cannot since it hasn't been determined if they come close or not. Simon is the main antagonist of the EthGoesBOOM POPGOES playthrough.

He is a skeletal animatronic designed after Purple Guy who created the POPGOES video game with the intention of distracting and hacking the Fazbear Gang while he kidnapped the Toy animatronics to obtain their power to dominate the world. However, it was later revealed that the series was just a story being told by the Puppet, meaning Simon likely does not truly exist.

Like everyone else on the channel, he was voiced by EthGoesBOOM.

Personality[]

Like most typical villains in the series, especially the one he is based on, Simon is a pure evil killer. He takes pleasure in trying to break Puppet, as well as cheating by taking out Golden Freddy without a game over. Unlike the Nightmares and Springtrap however, Simon never actively calls himself evil, and throughout most of his appearance, he is taken very seriously until he mentions blowing up the world, which Puppet points out makes no sense, which is also fittingly the moment it is revealed the series was just a story. In fact, while he is called a cheater like Nightmare, it is not played for minor amusement and anger like with Nightmare, but rather leading to a hopeless state. Overall, out of all the villains in the series, Simon is one of the few villains who is intended to be taken completely seriously, with his comedic moments usually being from the Puppet's reactions to him rather than Simon himself.

History[]

Simon goes unnoticed throughout most of the series, but it is evident that he was the one who created the POPGOES game equipped with a virus that hacks the player of the game, as well as kill anyone who plays the game. He manages to capture each of the Toy animatronics at the end of each night, showing the players what happened to their friends. He also manages to hack Freddy and Foxy, and put Bonnie in a terminally sickened state, which leads to the deaths of Freddy, Foxy, and Candy (who sacrificed himself to not get hacked). It also leads to the death of Chica to Blake the Badger.

Simon shows himself when Golden Freddy plays Night 5, confident he won't get hacked due the "ghostly parts" of him. During his run, Golden Freddy is shocked by the sight of Simon, who then kills him without giving a game over. An increasingly sickened Bonnie takes over as Simon flees from the game as he is called a cheater. After Bonnie completes the night and dies, Puppet takes over and does Night 6, with Simon constantly trying to get into his head. Eventually, after Puppet completes the night, Simon shows up, revealing that completing the game would and did not save anyone who was lost. Simon then reveals everything, what he had been doing, who he is, and that he was doing this to take over the world. As a result, Simon presses a button that destroys the whole world, killing him and Puppet.

However, immediately following the explosion, it is revealed that this was all just a theory/story by the Puppet talking about what the game would do if they play it. The listeners, Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, Foxy, and BB, are all horrified and disturbed by that story as Puppet goes on to play POPGOES for himself, everyone else resenting the game now.

Trivia[]

Eth has stated in a now deleted Google+ post that the ending of the POPGOES series was not initially meant to be a story reveal. He simply did not know how to end the story properly without it being too cheesy.
- He also explained why no other animatronics came to help
  - The Nightmares are villains, and would not help the heroes.
  - Not only is Springtrap not a hero, he was also not in the pizzeria, as Simon stated.
  - JJ was still hiding in the shadows and was too shy to do anything.
    - It should be worth noting that Puppet's story had Foxy mention JJ when discussing where BB went. However, Puppet didn't know JJ was even in the building, let alone BB was interacting with her until after the POPGOES series in BB's FNAF World Civil War video.
      - It's possible someone (likely Foxy) told him at some point prior to POPGOES, and when Puppet was told about JJ in BB's Fnaf World Civil War video, he was restating his confusion.
  - RXQ and Shadow Freddy, being somewhat Godly figures in this canon, would ruin the story because they could just fix everything from the get-go.
  - It's unknown why Penguin or any of Candy's friends didn't try to help.
  - It likely wouldn't have been safe to get animatronics from the past or other worlds, such as the Withered animatronics of the FNAF World bosses, as the virus likely couldn't be cured even by any of the remaining Cupcakes, so it wouldn't be safe to send them back with that virus, otherwise it could either spread or cause a time paradox.
Being designed after Purple Guy, Simon's voice is very similar to Springtrap's.
Given that Puppet played POPGOES normally offscreen following the series (despite his insane theory about the game) and that he was perfectly fine, it's safe to say that Simon does not exist within the EthGoeBOOM lore, and only exists non-lethally within the game.
- In fact, given how much Puppet apparently knows about POPGOES to tell the story, it's implied that Puppet played the entire game himself, played the strange mini games, found Simon, and decided to tell his friends about what he saw and what it could possibly mean.
- Given how Puppet says "more for me" when he goes to play POPGOES properly while everyone else refuses, it's also possible that Puppet was trying to disencourage the others to play the game so he could play it himself.
Puppet's story has Simon mention that Springtrap escaped the pizzeria. It's possible this implied that the animatronics knew Springtrap escaped the pizzeria. However, later in the channel, the animatronics are shocked to learn that Springtrap is out and planning to kill everyone.
- It's possible that when Springtrap escaped, they were under the idea that he wouldn't kill anyone until JJ told them that he may plan to return to kill them.
