Adam : Ugh, wait, where am I? Ugh, no way I'm still down here.

Travis : Ooh, good boy gone bad! Wanna be a movie star? (laughs)
Adam : Ew, get away from me, freak!

~ Adam upon his rebirth as a sinner demon
I can do whatever I want here, baby! Heh, I guess this could be fun after all. (laughs evilly)
~ Adam finally accepting his new life in Hell

Adam, also known as Sinner Adam after his rebirth, is the main protagonist of MilkyyMelodies' Hazbin Hotel fan song What A Hellhole and one of the two main protagonists (alongside Lute) of its sequel, Turmoil. He also serves as the overarching protagonist of the midquel, Angel of Wrath.

He was the first human who, after his first death, was transformed into an angel and became the leader of the Exorcists, where he led them in the yearly Exterminations to kill as many demons as possible for sadistic entertainment. Unfortunately for Adam, on his final Extermination day, he was killed by the sinner demon Niffty with a divine blade, seemingly killing him for good, something the Exorcists, especially his loyal right-hand woman, Lute, believed.

However, it is revealed that instead of dying for good, Adam is reborn as a dragon-themed sinner demon. Initially hating his new life in Hell, Adam soon realizes that Hell's lawless nature allows him to do whatever he wants, something he couldn't get in Heaven, which leads him to start liking his new life and planning to take over Hell.

He is voiced by Egg On Your Leg.

Biography[]

Backstory[]

Adam was the first human who, after being incited by the angel Lucifer Morningstar to eat the Forbidden Fruit, was banished from the Garden of Eden with his wife Eve, where they gave birth to humanity and eventually died. After his death, Adam entered Heaven and became a powerful but childish angel, causing his superior, Sera the Seraphim, to order him to behave himself and follow Heaven's rules, much to Adam's dismay. Adam later became the leader of the Exorcists who were tasked with killing sinner demons in the yearly Exterminations to prevent a possible uprising. Adam chose an Exorcist named Lute as his second-in-command, and they soon formed a close friendship. Besides Lute, Adam also befriended another Exorcist named Vagatha or Vaggie, much to Lute's jealousy. Unfortunately, their friendship was short-lived as Adam and Lute abandoned Vaggie in Hell after she let a cannibalistic demon child live. Vaggie was later found by Charlie Morningstar, Lucifer's daughter, with whom the two formed a relationship.

Over the next few years, Adam led the Exorcists in Exterminations not only to prevent an uprising, but also for his own sadistic entertainment. This brought him into conflict with Charlie, who wanted to save her people from Exterminations through Redemption, by redeeming the sinner demons so they could ascend to Heaven. Adam constantly opposed and ridiculed Charlie's ideas, seeing them as ineffective. This conflict culminated in an attack on Charlie's Hazbin Hotel, where Adam nearly killed Charlie but was quickly defeated and humiliated by Lucifer, before being killed by a sinner demon named Niffty with a divine blade. Before his death, Adam gave a warm smile to a shocked Lute before he took his last breath. After Adam's death, Lute was appointed as the new leader of the Exorcists and with her new position, Lute planned to take revenge by destroying not only Charlie and her allies, but all of Hell.

What A Hellhole[]

However, it is revealed that Adam did not die forever and was instead reborn as a sinner demon. Adam later wakes up and expresses his frustration at still being in Hell. Travis, a sinner demon, taunts Adam by calling him "turn bad" and mockingly offers Adam the chance to become a porn star. Adam disgustedly kicks Travis away before he puts his mask back on and walks through Hell. Throughout his walking, Adam constantly complains and is frustrated with the filthy and miserable atmosphere of Hell, while also belittling and insulting the sinner demons by calling them idiots who smell like trash and that they all do deserve to die. Adam then looks around for Lute in hopes of picking him up. However, when he doesn't find Lute, Adam mistakenly assumes that Lute has left him to rot, thus developing Adam's hatred for Lute. Adam begins to have second thoughts about Hell and he soon learns that Hell has no rules and he can do whatever he wants freely. Being a man who hates rules and loves freedom, Adam begins to like Hell and immediately throws away all his frustrations and replaces them with joy as he walks around while also annoying the sinner demons.

To celebrate his freedom, Adam flies and plays his guitar while spitting fire from his mouth. This attracts the attention of a skull-faced sinner demon, who takes a liking to Adam's play and starts vibing with him. However, Adam, annoyed by the presence of the sinner demon, burns him with his guitar. Adam then walks near the Vees tower, where he greets Vox and Velvette who are very shocked to see that the man they thought was dead is actually alive and has become a sinner demon. Adam turns his attention to a club with a sign offering playing solo music, where Adam immediately enters the club and plays his guitar enthusiastically, much to the cheers of the sinner demons who hear his music. Adam uses his fame to hang out with female demons and also spreads chaos by shooting his dark beam at the sinner demons just for fun.

After spreading chaos around Hell, Adam found the Hazbin Hotel that Charlie had always talked about. Suddenly, inside Adam, a desire to overthrow the Morningstars and rule Hell appear, which will be started by destroying the Hazbin Hotel. Realizing that he needed to destroy the Hazbin Hotel from the inside, Adam paid the sinner demon he had previously burned to become his intel by gathering information from the hotel. The sinner demon agreed and was immediately accepted by Charlie who did not suspect his intention. Adam, happy that he can do whatever he wants now, finally accepts his new life in Hell and states that living in Hell will be more fun for him before he laughs evilly in joy.

Turmoil[]

While Adam is taking a leisurely walk while enjoying his smoothie, unbeknownst to him, that day the Extermination was carried out, and the Exorcists emerge from a Heaven portal and begin targeting demons. Lute, now as leader of the Exorcists, then targets a sinner demon who she does not know is Adam and nearly kills Adam before he turns around and sees Lute about to attack him. Adam is surprised to see a slightly different Lute and Lute is even more surprised to see Adam is alive since she thought Adam was dead. Adam denies Lute's claim before he then brings up how Lute and the Exorcists had abandoned him in Hell, much to his irritation. Adam notices Lute's different appearance and accuses Lute of stealing his position and reminds Lute that she is still beneath him, even insultingly calling Lute "lame-o". When Lute explains that she was appointed to replace Adam and states her intention to avenge Adam, instead of supporting her, Adam laughs and belittles Lute, claiming that Lute could not do the job better than him. Adam also says that he is now starting to like his new life in Hell because he can live freely as he pleases. Lute is in disbelief at Adam's words and says that Adam can't be serious, only to be disappointed when Adam confirms his words by turning away.

Adam then indifferently listens to Lute's explanation of how Sir Pentious, a former sinner demon, has ascended to Heaven and become an angel. Lute then holds Adam and says that if Sir Pentious can be redeemed, then so can Adam, and Lute continues that she will convince the Elders of Heaven to accept Adam back into Heaven. Lute even kneels down and desperately begs Adam to return to Heaven so that they can be together again. An unfazed Adam then rudely rejects Lute's pleas, stating that Heaven is boring and Hell is more fun. Adam also reveals that he has now befriended the sinner demons who are willing to help him in his plan to become the new ruler of Hell. Adam then offers Lute to join him in his plan, with Adam gathering information from his intels and giving it to Lute in Heaven. However, Lute, disappointed with Adam's choice, finally and for the first time defies Adam, stating that Adam has become one of the "filth" they swore to kill and that she will not hesitate to kill him. Enraged, Adam says that even if Lute replaces him, she will not control him and says he is done obeying the angels. Adam tries to ignore Lute again by walking away.

However, Adam soon loses his temper when Lute says that everything she sacrificed, including cutting her own hair and throwing away her compassion, was for him, and calls out Adam for turning his back against himself. An enraged Adam yells at Lute to not dare speak of sacrifice to the first human before attempting to kill Lute with his dark beam. Lute manages to block the attack before Adam takes Lute into the sky where he attempts to burn her with his fire breath. Lute manages to free herself and the two engage in a battle of beams, witnessed by the Exorcists and the sinner demons. With a combined beam from her prosthetic arm and her light beam, Lute manages to knock Adam to the ground. However, a worried Lute rushes to Adam and turns him around where she sees that Adam's mask has been shattered on one side, exposing one side of his face, much to Lute's shock. An angry Adam and the sinner demons' displeasure faces eventually force a heartbroken Lute to withdraw the Exorcists back to Heaven. Before the portal to Heaven closes, a disappointed Lute gives Adam a scowling face. After the portal to Heaven closes, Adam is helped up by his sinner demon friend.

Appearance[]

Adam's appearance as a sinner demon is not much different from his angel form since he still has his robe and horned LED mask. However, it is clear that his appearance has undergone many changes. His robe is now black mixed with dark red and golden yellow. Adam's LED mask still has it's diabolical horns and yellow eyes and teeth, however it's color is now dark gray and his horns have two blades, and in closer look, his left eyebrow is split. Adam's clothing now have spikes in various places, especially on his shoulders, shoes, and mask. He also wears a gold chain necklace and a pair of sharp black shoes. Adam's wings, instead of beautiful golden bird wings, are now terrifying dark red dragon wings. To highlight his dragon-themed demon status, Adam now has a long dark red dragon tail with spikes.

Under his mask, even as a demon, Adam still looked like a normal human with pale skin and brown hair. However, his eyes are now red with yellow pupils, his fangs are sharp, and now he has a pair of small red horns.

Personality[]

Even after being reborn as a sinner demon, Adam is shown to be the same as he was before; a rude, egotistical, arrogant, obnoxious, condescending, shameless, and prejudiced man. This is evident when Adam was reborn in Hell, the first thing he did was to rudely kick Travis away for bothering him before he then wandered through Hell, where he belittled the sinner demons by calling them "idiots" and "people who smell like trash" and stated that the sinner demons do deserved their deaths for their suffering. Adam is also rude and disrespectful towards the sinner demons, shown when he pushed them aside for getting in his way and also when he used his tail to push a girl demon and stumble a sinner demon just for fun.

Initially, Adam showed hatred and dislikes towards Hell, to the point that he wished that Lute would come get him so he wouldn't have to stay there for too long. However, when he thought Lute had abandoned him, Adam began to have second thoughts about Hell and after learning that Hell has no rules unlike Heaven, Adam began to like the place because he could do whatever he wanted now, something he couldn't get in Heaven, showing that he was a hedonist who rather live in a place full of sufferings just because it give him a free life to do whatever fun things he wishes. Adam immediately took advantage of that nature of Hell by doing whatever he wanted, such as terrorizing the sinner demons by shooting them with his dark beam and singing as he pleased just so he can hang out with women, showing that he was a bit of a pervert and a playboy.

As time went by, Adam became power-hungry, where he intended to destroy Charlie's Hazbin Hotel so that he could overthrow the Morningstars' rule over Hell and become the new ruler there, thus making all demons, both sinners and hellborn and even Overlords, bow to him.

Although Adam initially had a close friendship with Lute, he immediately discarded it and replaced it with hatred after he mistakenly believed that Lute had left him to die. When he finally confronted Lute after she become the new Exorcist leader, Adam was not happy to see her, bringing up how Lute had abandoned him and accusing Lute of stealing his look as the Exorcist leader, even insulting Lute as "lame-o". After Lute revealed that she was appointed to replace Adam and her intention to destroy Hell to avenge Adam, Adam belittled and laughed at her as he think Lute would not do a better job than him. Adam also rudely rejected Lute's desperate pleas for him to return to Heaven and be together again, telling him that Hell was more fun and Heaven was boring, ultimately destroying their friendship completely.

Adam seems to dislike rules and orders, as the reason he chose Hell to the point of refusing Lute's futile pleas was because Hell allow him to do whatever he wanted, which he claims he could never do in Heaven. This is reinforced in one of the flashbacks, where he gets frustated when Sera telling him to behave himself.

Adam is also somewhat a hypocrite, as he accuses Lute of being a traitor, even though he himself is also a traitor for turning from Heaven to Hell just because Hell gives him the freedom to do whatever he wants. He also hypocritically says that sinner demons deserve death, even though he himself is also one of them.

However, despite his negative traits and although he initially looking down on and even terrorizing the sinner demons, Adam slowly began to befriend them, as seen when he needed an intel to sneak into the Hazbin Hotel, Adam paid a sinner demon to be his intel instead of threatening him, showing that he was slowly starting to warm up to them. This lead to the sinner demon to grow closer to Adam to the point that he helped him after the latter was defeated by Lute. Speaking of being defeated by Lute, after Adam was injured by Lute, the sinner demons looked at Lute with displeased faces, showing that they did not like what Lute did to Adam, implying that because Adam cared and became friendly with them, they also began to care about Adam.
