~ Spamton to the player at the end of the Salt Route. |
Spamton G. Spamton is the villainous deuteragonist of DELTARUNE: Salt Route. In an alternate route, Spamton joins Kris/the player's party after they collect five salt stains in the Cyber City, believing the player would help him find his keys. Soon, Spamton would become the player's new puppet, using him as a pawn to kill multiple Darkners throughout the Cyber City, leading to Spamton questioning them and eventually asking them whether or not he made them feel proud.
Biography[]
After encountering Kris in the Cyber World, Spamton fights them. However, midway through the battle, Spamton stops and begins looking for his keys. The player would offer to help Spamton look for them, allowing Spamton to join their party. Soon, Spamton would travel around the Cyber City with Kris/the player, holding onto them, thinking they would help him.
After encountering an enemy, the player would order Spamton to kill them. After this, Spamton would follow the players orders as they continued to order him to slaughter countless Darkners across the Cyber City, leaving not a single one left alive. Eventually, Spamton would be confronted by an Addison who had known him in the past. They would happily greet Spamton before apologizing for abandoning him years ago. Before Spamton could say anything, the player would order him to kill them. Reluctant, Spamton would go ahead and kill his former friend.
Eventually, Spamton would begin to realize that maybe the player didn't actually intend to help him find his keys. He realized that the player just viewed him as a puppet and nothing more. However, shortly after realizing this, the player would begin to try convincing Spamton that this was not the case, leading to Spamton continuing to aid them.
Later, the two would enter Queen's mansion and fight her. After the two defeat and presumably kill her, Spamton and Kris sit down on the roof. Spamton would ask the player whether or not he had impressed them, with the player responding that he had at first. Spamton would repeat the question several times, being unsure whether or not they actually meant it. The player would eventually tell them no, leading to Spamton feeling even more distraught. Soon, Spamton would leave the mansion, never to be seen again.
Personality[]
Unlike his original counterpart, Spamton here is depicted as a much sympathetic individual who is just simply a puppet manipulated by the player. Spamton appears to be a generally insecure and troubled individual. At first, Spamton seems to genuinely fine with Kris/the player, believing they would help him find his keys that he had lost. However, after continuously manipulating Spamton into killing dozens of enemies across the Cyber City, he begins to question the player's motives, further realizing they don't intend to help him and are just using him as their puppet.
As the route continues, Spamton even seems to begin to feel hesitation and guilt for his murderous actions, seemingly being hesitant before killing the Addison who offered to make up with him. This would seemingly make the Spamton question the player even more and grow increasingly tired.
At the end of the day, it is clear that Spamton truly just wants to gain affection from Kris/the player, as at the end of the route they ask them if they made them proud repeatedly. When the player tells them no, Spamton appears to be genuinely upset, realizing that he truly was just a puppet and felt worthless, leaving them with a genuinely saddened expression.

Trivia[]
- This version of Spamton appears to be able to summon his heart attack without the use of his NEO form.
- Unlike most versions of the character, Spamton doesn't speak in all caps with brackets. According to the creator of the concept, Campyvillain, this is because Spamton's personality to a certain extent has been "reset."
