auto_enhance, also known as Stanley, is a major antagonist in the Friday Night Funkin mod, Mario's Madness, serving as the main antagonist of Promotion and the overarching antagonist of Abandoned and The End.
History[]
Background[]
Unlike other interpretations of the personalization A.I. of Nintendo, auto_enhance is a cynical, suicidally depressed intelligence acutely aware that he is being used to harm humans with a power that he cannot control.
Promotion[]
Upon successfully escaping from MX, Boyfriend goes to Classified Castle and is greeted by Promotion Mario, who offers him the opportunity to test out a new Nintendo project. The two started a rap battle that was calm until then, until Classified Luigi appeared on Mario's screen, making him lose his emotion and soon after revealing his dark side, Stanley. After the rap battle ends, Stanley forces Boyfriend to leave, stating that it was no longer fun.
Appearance[]
As Promotion Mario, he appears as a 3D render of Mario behind the stand hosting the first episode of Nintendo Mania. He has the same attributes from his original appearance aside from having a bigger moustache and a very friendly look on his face holding a mic up in the air. When Luigi appears in the TV, he stops smiling and instead stands still with an unchanging, yet seemingly depressed, blank stare.
Stanley's default appearance is the Texture-less Mario Anomaly, a version of Mario's model in SM64 but with without his eyes and mustache. Owing to the analog horror nature of CLASSIFIED, he often appears oversaturated or with heavy amounts of chromatic aberration.
Personality[]
As Promotion Mario, auto_enhance appears to enjoy rapping with Boyfriend, having fun with him until Classified Luigi appears on his screen, leaving him emotionless. Like Stanley on the other hand, he is aggressive to the point that at the end of the song he forces Boyfriend to leave.

Trivia[]
- L is Real Luigi, the Wario Apparition, and auto_enhance are the only characters in the mod to have a per-established connection to each other outside of gameplay.
- His poses reference from his appearance on Promo Show.
- Many people have expressed their disappointed that Stanley, Boyfriend and Girlfriend's sprites in Promotion aren't 3D-models like in the cutscene beforehand. Marco Antonio gave his reasoning as to why this is, stating that the cutscene was made long after development of the song was finished and was mostly included for fun.
