Henry, what the fuck are you-
„
~ Steven right before being stuffed into a Freddy suit by Henry Miller.
Steven Stevenson, better known as Scott Cawthon or Phone Guy, is the secondary antagonist of the Dayshift at Freddy's trilogy.
He serves as the secondary antagonist of Dayshift at Freddy's, an unseen antagonist in Dayshift at Freddy's 2: Electric Boogaloo, and a major protagonist in Dayshift at Freddy's 3.
He was the manager of the Colorado location, serving as Jack Kennedy and Dave Miller's supervisor. After an unsuccessful (or successful, depending on the player's choices) attempt to frame Jack as the murderer, Steven would get scrapped as a Phone Guy, and his soul would go on to reside in the Flipside, where he would then be recruited by Jack and his party to aid them in defeating Dr. Henry Miller.
Steven was originally a regular employee at a Freddy's location, being an intelligent, courageous man with a moral backbone. One day, he would encounter Henry Miller brutally murdering a child and stuffing them into a suit in the backroom, and despite Henry's warnings telling him to not interfere, Steven was insistent on stopping him. This led to his downfall, as he was murdered by Henry right after. His corpse would then be sent to Afton Robotics to be recycled as a Phone Guy.
As a Phone Guy, he would be the exact opposite of what he once was as a human, being a cowardly and selfish man who would do anything to cover up the problems in Freddy's. He served as the manager of the Colorado location, but after an unsuccessful (or successful, depending on the player's choices) attempt to frame Jack as the murderer, the location would be shut down and Steven would be scrapped.
His soul would eventually move onto the Flipside, where he would reside with multiple armless Foxy clones that served as his minions. He would later meet Jack and his party there, and Steven would believe that they came to confront him. Steven would run away from them and send his Foxy minions to attack them, but after they were defeated Steven was reminded of his past, and would be recruited in order to defeat Henry Miller.
After the final battle with Henry, Steven's soul would be freed along with the rest of Jack's party save for Jack himself.
Appearance[]
Steven is a male human with a red rotary phone as a head and usually wears light blue, short-sleeved shirts or a black suit with a red or black tie. You can't see him from the waist down, though his sprites depict him wearing black pants and dark shoes.
Personality[]
Before his change into Phone Guy, Steven seemed to be an intelligent, courageous man with a moral backbone (which also caused his downfall). He seemed insistent to stop Henry after witnessing him brutally murder a child.
As a Phone Guy, Steven seems to be very attached to the company - he cares about its interests and conceals exploding scandals. When the police start investigating murders, the night hero mini-game (Wednesday) closes the Safe Room with bloody springy clothes to save Freddy's. In addition, Steven runs short conversations with Jack every day, probably to check his new subordinate. He does not hesitate to warn his employee when something is wrong or even throwing him away if he did something extremely reprehensible.
Such an attitude may be due to fear of losing a job, but Steven seems to be particularly committed to fulfilling his tasks.
He avoids using vulgar language (which makes him stand out from other characters, in particular, Dave). However, this is a matter of programming, as he seemed to have nothing against swearing before he was turned into Phone Guy.
Employees perceive Steven as an unpleasant man who cares only for himself - an unflattering opinion about him. Peter, who was once Steven's subordinate, views him in a very bad light.
Despite his commitment to Freddy's, Steven appears in many cases as a coward. He fears facing the consequences of his actions. After the failure of the springlocks, he sends Peter's body to the factory, instead of providing him with a dignified burial - he lets him be converted into a Phone Guy, so long as he does not suffer any consequences, such as bad press.
Steven's attitude changes slightly in Dayshift at Freddy's 3. Jack encounters his soul in the 3rd layer of Flipside, if he decided to follow a good path. Initially, Steven thinks the heroes have come to take revenge on him and sends his army of Foxy's behind them. However, when he is cornered, he stands up, ready to fight.
When Jack explains to him that he has come to save him, Steven initially rejects his proposal - he explains that he can not be saved, and then stubbornly insists that his soul is not worth trying to save at all. He later confesses that he is tired of the fight and feels awful about his past actions. He asks Jack, Dave, and Dee for forgiveness. He is ready to do anything to redeem himself. Ultimately, the heroes convince him and - despite some hesitation - Steven joins the team.
Steven seems to be delusional, as he sees himself as the original Phone Guy, and he's insistent that he is Scott Cawthon, as he states before his battle, "I am Scott Cawthon, your manager. And you, employee, are FIRED".
He seems to have an unhealthy obsession with Foxy, but it is a matter of a joke related to this robot. Destroying Foxy will cause the Tragic Ending in DSaF. It is worth noting that in DSaF 3, Steven's helpers are these robots. This issue, however, also results from his programming: the favorite robot of the original Scott Cawthon was Foxy.
Trivia[]
His audio dialogue, from the "uh" sounds to the full spoken sentences, are taken straight from his phone calls in "Five Nights at Freddy's", "Five Nights at Freddy's 2", and "Five Nights at Freddy's 3".
Steven often calls himself as "Scott Cawthon", the name of the author of the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise. This probably is just a joke to the fact Scott Cawthon himself was the voice actor for the original Phone Guy from the FNaF series.
A picture of Steven's family contains a family picture of a woman in a dress, who also has a phone for a head, Mikey and Mike Jr.
Steven doesn't seem to be disturbed that his oldest son keeps putting his youngest in Fredbear's mouth and costing him his frontal lobe, it is also seen that those two are his sons, which probably means that his desire to see his family for 15 years is a complete lie.
If the player names himself Phone Guy, Steven will say "Dat me >:|", and the player will need to name themselves something else.
He is Phone Guy 14_02, which means Harry was his old manager, because Harry is model 14_01.
