“ | You waltz in here with a SOUL like that... and expect me to just sit here and do nothing? After being without one for so long? If you think the answer is yes, then sorry, but... You're DEAD wrong. So do me a favor, and... GIVE. ME. YOUR. SOUL...! | „ |
~ Temmie revealing their true nature. |
Temmie is the main antagonist of TS!Underswap, an Undertale fangame made by Team Switched.
They assume the role Flowey had in the original, being the soulless reincarnation of the adoptive child of the royal family that now possesses a Temmie plush. When Chara falls into the underground, Temmie initially acts friendly and ditzy towards them before quickly dropping the façade and attempting to take the human's soul, but soon flees before Asgore catches them. After this, they begin stalking the player throughout Ruined Home and confront them again at the area's exit, revealing that there are multiple Temmies working with them.
Appearance[]
Temmie is a small, quadrupedal white plush of a cat and dog-like monster. They have cat paws and a dog tail, as well as both cat ears which sit atop their head and round dog ears at the sides. They have long black hair parted in the front and a simplistic cat face with a pair of small black dots for eyes. They wear a light blue sweater with yellow stripes. They can distort their face to look more horrific and elongate their arms, as well as having their front paws become claws.
Biography[]
Past[]
Not much is known about Temmie's past or who they were currently, it will likely be revealed in future Demos.
Ruined Home[]
Temmie is the first character the player meets in the game, setting up a shop from a cardboard box near where Chara had fallen. They greet the human while speaking in broken English and offer to teach them how the Underground operates, initiating a battle. They then give a basic tutorial about dodging attacks and LV before asking the player to "pay" for the lesson by giving them love, sending out a few bullets their way.
If the player's soul makes contact with any of these bullets, they will take massive damage, dropping their HP to 1. If the bullets are avoided, Temmie grows more desperate and begins sending out more bullets. In either case, the plush will then drop their fake kindness, telling the player not to be so surprised if the bullets are hit and figuring out that the human knows what's really going on if they're avoided.
Tem then reveals their motive of taking Chara's soul after being without one of their own for so long before their face distorts and their arms grow longer. They grab the box the player's soul is in, shrinking it significantly while cackling evilly as bullets begin to fly towards the soul. Right before killing the player, Temmie is interrupted by Asgore's approach and lets the soul go, returning to their broken English. They say how much of a shame it is that someone had to interrupt their fun and says goodbye to Chara, running off before Asgore sees them.
After this, Temmie can be seen stalking the player through holes in the walls throughout Ruined Home, ducking out of sight when they're spotted. They can also later be seen sitting on the other side of the destroyed bridge leading to the City of Old, looking out over the city, though can't be interacted with.
Compassion Route[]
At the end of Ruined Home, Tem reappears right before the entrance to Starlight Isles. They chastise the player for their kindness, saying it won't matter in the end, and mock them for any killings they'd reset over. They then reveal that they aren't working alone as several silhouettes of other Temmies surround the player. They say that the human was lucky to have Asgore come to their rescue during their first encounter, but now no one is around to save them as the group of Temmies closes in for the kill.
Before they can reach Chara however, a yellow flower named Flowey pop out of the ground and asks if it's interrupting anything. One of the shadow Temmies asks what it's doing there, but Flowey says that's none of their concern, threatening to go get Asgore if they don't back off. The group of Temmies do so, warning that Flowey won't always be around to watch over the human as they disappear.
Neutral Route[]
At the end of Ruined Home, Temmie tells the player that they aren't surprised that they killed, figuring they would have to eventually. After the other Temmies show up, they mock and berate the player for the monsters they've killed. The Pride Temmie then says that they must be proud of what they've done, before the group closes in for an attack and is once again driven away by Flowey.
Ruthless Route[]
At the end of Ruined Home, Temmie and their group praise Chara for the blood they've spilled, offering to work with them to wipe out every monster in the Underground. Chara instead takes a step forward, likely intending to attack, and the shadow Temmies realize that the human isn't interested in a partnership as they retreat. The original Temmie is left behind, but just before a battle with the human can start, Flowey once again pops up, wondering where everyone else went.
Temmie concludes that Chara and Flowey are working together against them, reasoning that the flower got the human to kill everyone in exchange for something. Temmie then states that they've never had the confidence or charisma of Flowey and only do what others tell them to, deciding to do something on their own as they prepare to attack. Flowey easily knocks them away with a single bullet, however.
Starlight Isles[]
Compassion + Neutral Route[]
Temmie does not appear themself, but three of their cohorts talk about them on the bridge between Starlight Isles and Crystal Springs. The group discusses how it would've been easier to kill Chara at the beginning, before they had gotten so many eyes on them. The Sloth Temmie says it's because Asgore had interrupted their lookout, the original Temmie, and the Greed Temmie remarks that they had tried to take the human's soul for themself without the rest of the group. The Pride Temmie then rhetorically asks the two if they wouldn't have done the same.

“ | Haha... excellent work, I must say. Far better than I, all by myself, could manage. Though, this begs the question... Why? What was it that drove you to do what you've done? And now that you've gotten this far... What do you plan on doing next? Well, don't worry. Fortunately for us both... I've never had you charisma or confidence... I just do what the others tell me to do! Well, you know what?! I think I'll do something on my own, for once! DIE. | „ |
~ Temmie confronting Flowey before getting knocked away. |
Trivia[]
- Like with Flowey in the original Undertale, Temmie will become annoyed at the player if their first encounter is continually reset, eventually giving up and asking if they have anything better to do.
- During the tutorial, there is a chance that the Temmie-shaped bullet the player must dodge will move incredibly fast across the screen, being almost impossible to avoid. There is also a chance that the bullet will move so slowly that Temmie gets bored and decides to move on before it can even reach the battle box.
- Temmie can sometimes be seen floating around in their Tem Shop box in the waters of the City of Old.
- It's implied that they or one of their cohorts were the one to bride Muffet into trying to kill Chara.
- As seen in some of their dialog, Greed Temmie is incredibly distrustful of them.
- In the original UnderSwap, Temmie was a reincarnation Monster Kid. It is unknown if that is still the case here.
