Monster Kid, also known as Temmie the Tem, or just simply Temmie is the main antagonist of Underswap. They are the first character to meet Chara after the latter loses their way and falls into the Underground. In this AU of Undertale, Temmie swaps roles with Flowey, the main antagonist of the original game; Asriel and Monster Kid also swap places.
Personality[]
Much like the original version of Flowey, Temmie operates under a façade of friendliness and politeness. They often greet the protagonist by saying "HOI!" and calls themself their "best friend". Whenever they drop this guise of friendliness, they often call the protagonist an "idiot".
Temmie has a malevolent and cruel disposition, berating the protagonist for not following their "kill or be killed" philosophy. Despite this, they will also criticize the protagonist if they kill any monsters in the Ruins. Much like Flowey, they are a greedy, arrogant, egocentric, manipulative, devious, sly, and cunning planner, who is subtle if the circumstances require it. They are also shown to be extremely solicitous, pusillanimous, diffident, and cowardly, as they kill their adoptive mother to appease the protagonist in a vain attempt to save their own life in the Genocide Route's conclusion.
Like Asriel, Monster Kid was a docile, unadventurous, and loving child. They cared for the First Human as a sibling, and they trusted them when they came up with a plan to escape the Underground that involved them consuming buttercups.
After Undyne resurrects them without a soul as Temmie, Monster Kid becomes incapable of feeling love or empathy, which in turn causes them to become resentful, twisted, and evil, much like the original version of Flowey.
After temporarily regaining their compassion, they apologize for their actions to Chara and realizes the gravity of their actions as Temmie. They also tried to make amends by releasing the SOULs that they took, and expresses happiness at being forgiven and consoled by Chara.
While they mostly have the personality of Flowey, they still speak in the same way they did in Undertale.

- Monster Kid is adopted in Underswap, given that they swapped places with Asriel.
- Temmie is named after Temmie Chang, who helped make the original Undertale.
- Given that they swapped with Flowey, this version of Temmie is far more serious than their original counterpart.
- While Temmie is usually considered to be female, Monster Kid's gender is left ambiguous, which is why this page refers to Temmie as a "they".
- Like Flowey, Temmie acts as the true main villain of Underswap. While Toriel is built up as the main antagonist, she is actually just a kind and sorrowful character.
- They could arguably serve as the deuteragonist in the Genocide Route.
