William Afton or "The Attraction", also known as "Springtrap", is one of the playable killers in Dead by Daylight.

He was introduced as the Killer of the Five Nights at Freddy's DLC chapter.

He originates from the 2015 horror game Five Nights at Freddy's 3.

William Afton was a successful businessman who was beloved by the members of his community. He had created a successful branch of restaurants aimed towards children entertainment with his partner Henry Emily. These establishments were famous for their use of robotic, animatronic characters. He would greet those around him with a friendly smile, giving off the impression that he is to be trusted. Underneath that warm smile, however, laid a depraved and sadistic individual with an unsatisfiable bloodlust.

During the 1980s, Afton slaughtered children in his own establishments, having disguised himself using a springlock costume: a suit that could be used as both a costume for employees to use and that could also be switched into an animatronic mode. On one of his killing sprees, he discovered Remnant, a leftover fragment of one's soul. Using the remnants of murdered children, Afton conducted a series of tests by injecting the substance into robotic endoskeletons. The product was a combination of the child's soul remnant along with the programming of the animatronic done by Afton.

Over the years, however, Afton would increasingly become more and more paranoid. Not wanting to be caught for his crimes. Afton would kill himself inside of the Spring Bonnie animatronic with the knowledge that he will survive due to remnant. He returned to his old restaurant, now abandoned, and equipped the suit. The springlocks failed on him, and he got crushed by the endoskeleton. As his screams filled the empty hallways and his blood poured from the suit. Afton knew deep down this was the right thing. He would survive, and he would come back.

Years later, a horror attraction would soon to be opened with it's workers going into the old restaurant to find relics to put into the upcoming place. When they returned, they claimed to have seen a large pool of dried blood on the floor, but nothing else was to be seen.
