The Defenders are the second group of troll killers that fight against the trolls.
Initially they appeared to be a secondary group of the troll fighters similar to the Troll Slaiyers. As the story progress, it's revealed that Cheeto Man is the mastermind behind the group. He kidnapped the Defenders' family members and friends, and blackmailing them in order to force them to his dirty business. However, members like Trix Rabbit are considered as evil.
History[]
The Defenders was founded by Pac Man after his hometown got destroyed by Troll King's army. In their first appearance in th comic, they kidnapped Tails to their base and interrogate him as they thought he's a troll, until Pori steps in and confirm that he's not.
Pac Man explained why he formed the defenders to Tails and informed Sonic's death at the hand of the Troll King. The Defenders proceed to train Tails to fight the trolls. However, Trix Rabbit and Ronald McDonald refused to train Tails.
After Tails reunited with Knuckles, they smokes weed together, joined by Doug. Knuckles later got into a fight with Cheeto Man, and proceed to take Tails outside and explain the true nature of the Defenders: Cheeto Man had kidnapped the Defenders' family members and friends and threatened to kill them if the Defenders did not follow his order.
In Chapter 27.5, after witnessing Amy's unjustified death, Shadow intrudes the Defenders' base in order to kill Cheeto Man for his atrocity. He ambushed Trix Rabbit and killed him before confronting Cheeto Man.
In Chapter 28, Shadow and Cheeto Man had an intense fight. Initially equally matched, until Batman noticed Shadow intruding the base and aid Cheeto Man with Woodstock, Skeeter, Doug and Vivian. Knowing he's overwhelmed, Shadow decided to go violent and kill Batman, Woodstock, and Skeeter with a laser. Vivian and Doug escaped with Doug being severely injured by the laser attack. Dexter is seemingly killed by the falling rocks caused by Shadow's attack. Cheeto Man is not seen in the massacre scene, strongly implied he escaped.

Trivia[]
- Because of the dark tone of the comics, the Defenders are notably having unexpected characters, mostly from the more child-friendly franchises or food mascots. The team also has one of the darkest aspect in the entire story, such as Cheeto Man being the mastermind that blackmailing the members and kidnapped their loved ones, as well as Trix Rabbit selling children to sex slavery.
- While Batman, Woodstock, Vivian, Skeeter and Doug fight Shadow for trying to kill Cheeto Man despite his heinous crimes, it should be noted that they are unwillingly doing this due to Cheeto Man's intimidation.
