The Hound of Langford is one of the Anomalies in the 2024 Friday Night Funkin mod, Step Right Up: Adventure Isle. He is a digital cryptid that inhabits the Duck Season cartridge. He tries to kill David in the song, "Face Me". He is a retake of The Dog from the 2017 video game, Duck Season.

His samples were by William Dafoe, specifically from the Spider Man Movie Game.

Appearance[]

The Dog's appearance is retained from the original Duck Season. He resembles a man in a dog (specifically the Troller breed) suit, that's designed akin to the original Duck Hunt Dog. The Dog's coat is entirely tan, with dark brown ears and a black nose at the tip of his muzzle, which are adorned with freckles. On his coat, blood is seen dripping down his coat from his maw.

Biography[]

The Dog appears in the song, "FACE ME", where he challenges David to fight him akin to the original game's Canon Ending. After murdering David's mother, he attempts to trap him within Duck Season, sending birds and demonic dogs after him periodically. After a little while, The Dog vanishes, only to come out of the lake as a massive form of himself, sending David out into the real world.

David, all alone in the dark house as midnight strikes, seems to be alone, only for The Dog to have followed him into the real world, as he attacks David from the door to his left. However, as they have their singoff, David shoots The Dog numerous times with the Light Gun, and eventually The Dog fades (presumably a implication of his death, much like the original game).

Trivia[]

The Dog's real world sprites were made one day before the mod released
There are some differences from the Canon Ending:
- The Dog actually destroys the TV in Face Me, and David still exits into the Real World, unlike in the original game, where The Dog destroying the TV played the "Stuck Forever Ending", which was essentially a Game Over.
- The Dog in this mod simply fades away after defeat, rather than exploding into several red blocks.
Judging by the description, it's highly likely the police were unaware of the Duck Season game, simply calling the killer's suit a suit akin to the Duck Hunt Dog's, and by that, even more unaware of his death and cryptic backstory, stating only that the killer disappeared sometime after the summer of his killings.
- It can be theorized in this universe, that only one Duck Season cartridge was made, or simply a super vague release, thus not being notable in the police search.
