| ~ The Muse upon revealing its true form and threatening Alex. |
The Muse is the overall main antagonist of the alternate reality game created by Alex Bale, The Muse ARG.
It is Alex Bale’s (the ARG's protagonist) source of creativity who manipulates him into keep doing content that is popular and not what Alex wants. The Muse serves as the main source of the theories that Alex makes on the Nickelodeon series SpongeBob SquarePants.
Appearance[]
It's true form (or not) appears to be a large, Grey-brown creature with 12 eyes and tentacles and a large mouth with sharp teeth.
Its human form is just Alex but with fancy clothes.
Personality[]
The Muse is a manipulative, controlling, parasitic, threatening and mysterious entity that forces Alex to only make SpongBob theories so Alex could remain popular. It doesn’t seem to even care for Alex and only wants him for its own enigmatic goals. It plays into Alex’s insecurity of being unpopular and unnoticed, claiming that without his theories, Alex would be nothing.
It seems to have a constant desire to feed on meat, having Alex feed it every night. Its hunger gets so strong that it attempts to eat living animal, trying to negotiate with Alex for him to bring a stray cat. When Alex refuses, The Muse somehow finds one and devours it.
Biography[]
SpongeBob Conspiracies/DON'T FEED THE MUSE[]
Not much is known about the Muse other than Alex Bale somehow encountering it, and, in return for its theories on SpongeBob SquarePants, Alex would provide the creature with meat. The muse is one of the children of a creature known as "MOTHER", the co-owner (or owner) of the infamous Happy Meat Farms corporation.
After finishing his theory on Mrs. Puff's hidden past, Alex goes into the kitchen and unwraps some steaks. Mashing them with the palms of his hands, he then places the meat in a garbage bag and enters a room shrouded in darkness. Without hesitation, he tosses the bag towards the darkness, and it gets dragged away by something offscreen. A message in a bottle with the number 4 then rolls out to him.
Before his evolution theory, Alex thanks the audience for all the views on his theories, yet briefly mentions that he had other content on his channel to view. Wrapping that theory up, Alex tries to talk to the Muse insisting that he didn't want to be known as the "SpongeBob Guy," but the Muse tears him down by claiming that before it arrived, he was unloved and didn't have millions of views or sponsorship. Nevertheless, the Muse rolls another bottle to him claiming that it knew who he really was.
After completing his theory on the multiple variants of King Neptune, Alex briefly considers turning his partnership with his Muse into a mutual friendship, even mentioning that he's impressed by every detail he was able to give, only to be met with no response. A few minutes later, the Muse appears on the ceiling and informs Alex that if they were to continue their negotiations, it required something more.
After that theory, Alex's name at the end of his videos changed to "The Spongebob Guy."
In the video claiming that the Goofy Goober restaurant is a front for an alien death cult, Alex purchases a cat from an animal store and yet, despite deciding against sacrificing the cat to the Muse, the Muse "finishes the job." It then hands Alex another bottle stating that he had gone too deep to back out of the deal now.
In his next video describing a Robot Invasion he believes is happening in Bikini Bottom, Alex is shown talking to someone named Victoria, and an as yet unnamed man. Later on, Alex threatens the Muse with a knife, threatening to stop making Spongebob theories. Victoria knocks on Alex's door, and Alex tells her to wait a moment. Alex then goes to put the knife back, and returns to find Victoria missing. He assumes the Muse did something to her and goes to confront it but is stopped when Victoria appears and explains she just had to use the bathroom. Alex begins to panic and tries to get Victoria out of his house so the Muse can't harm her. Victoria attempts to calm Alex down and reveals to him that she has a Muse too.
Then, in the video where he states that the Flying Dutchman is actually Patchy the Pirate's ghost from the future, he begins asking Victoria questions about the Muse. But Victoria states that she doesn't have her Muse anymore. It is then revealed at the end that Alex's Muse was originally her's but gave it to him because he "needed help".
DON'T FEED THE MUSE II[]
As Alex reached his breaking point The Muse and him have a conversation where Alex threatens The Muse with light, believing that to be his weakness, only for The Muse to reveal that the reason they were always shrouded in darkness is for Alex’s safety rather than The Muse’s. Alex however still turns on the flashlight he was holding and The Muse roars as Alex sees what they actually look like. With the help of Victoria, who by this point has been assimilated, The Muse was able to subdue Alex and mimic his appearance to start the digestion process, swallowing Alex whole in the process.
DON'T FEED THE MUSE III[]
The Muse spends a majority of the video attempting to convince Alex to give up and as well as confronting Alex on his selfish nature, but as Alex nears escape The Muse makes a final push to keep Alex trapped. This fails and Alex escapes, causing The Muse to explode and reduce to a smaller form. The Muse attempts one last time to manipulate Alex into sparing him but Alex refuses to listen and stomps on The Muse killing it.
