The Puppet is the main antagonist of the The Return to Freddy's: Reawakened. He is set to return in the upcoming The Return to Freddy's 2: Madness Begins.

It is an animatronic puppet that serves as an entertainer and prize vendor at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. However, when night strikes, it becomes aggressive and leads the animatronics in killing the security guard. In truth, it is possessed by the soul of the first murdered child victim of Fritz Smith and leads the other animatronics in their mission to take revenge on their murderer.

Appearance[]

The Puppet is a thin, black animatronic marionette equipped with a narrow-eyed white mask with rosy red cheeks and lipstick, purple tear stains and a wide, open smile. Its body is black with three buttons on its chest, three spindly fingers on each hand, pointed legs and with white stripes on its wrists and ankles.

In the minigames, the child who would go on to possess the Puppet is a young, light-skinned boy with black eyes and wearing a blue shirt, dark blue pants, grey shows and a dark grey fedora.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Little is known about the child who would end up possessing the Puppet. One day, outside of Fredbear's Family Diner in the 70's, a child was crying outside the establishment. As he stood outside the building, Fritz Smith drove up next to him and killed the boy. His soul would eventually go on to possess the Puppet animatronic and the location closed down soon after the tragedy.

The Puppet would be reused in both the 1987 Freddy Fazbear's Pizza and the one that came before, but would be taken out of commission following an incident where the toy animatronics malfunctioned during the day. From then on, the Puppet was stored in a backroom at the third Freddy Fazbear's Pizza before it was closed down for good.

The Return to Freddy's: Reawakened[]

In 2015, Freddy's was reopened by Fritz, the killer of the many missing children who haunted the establishment's robots, to relive his glory days. Begrudgingly, he also had the Puppet reinstated as the establishment's prize vendor, hoping he could steer clear of its wrath.

The Puppet becomes active on Night 1 and is the most aggressive animatronic of the bunch. Upon activation, the Puppet will take one of two established pathways to the Office:

Party Room → Dining Area → East Hall → East Hall Corner → The Office.

Party Room → Dining Area → West Hall → West Hall Corner → The Office.

When going through its right path, the Puppet will eventually reach and subsequently exit the East Hall Corner, causing several images of its face to appear on the monitors in the office room, along with a rapid music box jingle. When this occurs, the player must throw on the Freddy Fazbear mask to deter it and make it go away. Alternatively, the Puppet will go through the West Hall and West Hall Corner. If it approaches through the West Hall Corner, the Puppet will appear in the left blindspot, prompting the player to shut the door as to prevent it from coming in. If the player fails to deter the Puppet through either of these methods, it will jumpscare them and deliver a game over.

On Night 5, the Puppet hunts Fritz during his shift and attacks him while he's recording a message for Mike Schmidt. Following Mike's sixth night where he defends himself against Vincent wearing the Golden Freddy suit, he discovers on the newspaper that Fritz has gone missing and that Freddy's would be shutting down for the final time, with the implication being that the Puppet and the rest of the animatronics finally achieved their revenge against him and avenged the deaths of his many victims.

Trivia[]

In the original The Return to Freddy's, the child possessing the Puppet is nicknamed "BFP", acting as a self-insert for the creator, BFPFilms424. In the Reawakened series, he is currently nameless, although stated to be around 11 years old.
- The original game's Puppet child also used a sprite from a pre-existing game. The Reawakened series uses the current design of BFP.
