The SOUL is the overarching antagonist/deuteragonist of the Deltarune fan game, A Different Snowgrave. They are the driving force that inhabited Kris's body until they were frozen by Noelle during their confrontation with Berdly. It would take control over Noelle's body soon after, continuing their massacre even longer.
Biography[]
After forcing Noelle to freeze dozens of enemies in their path and forces her to wear the Thorn Ring after getting it from Spamton in order to make her stronger, the player/Kris and Noelle confront Berdly and battle him. The player orders Noelle to use Snowgrave against Berdly, though it was a spell she didn't know. After getting fed up with player, Noelle casts the spell and freezes Kris, presumably killing them.
After Berdly runs off to find help, the SOUL leaves Kris's body and breaks through the block of ice, finding Noelle and floats into her body, partially taking control over her. It tells her to "proceed" to continue freezing anyone who stood in their way. Noelle and the player would continue their slaughter throughout the Cyber World, freezing dozens of people inside of Queen's mansion.
As Noelle and the player began to approach the fountain, they were confronted by Spamton who had uploaded himself into Queen's giant robot. While he does congratulate Noelle for helping him at first, he immediately realizes that she and the player were about to seal the fountain, leading to him trying to burn her with his flamethrower. Before he could, however, the player's SOUL would turn yellow and block Spamton's attack by blasting the flame. Soon, a battle would begin between the three, ending with Noelle and the player destroying Spamton's robotic body and Noelle freezing Spamton death.
Once Spamton was killed, the SOUL would seal the fountain and return to the library in Hometown, returning to Kris's unconscious body.

- While not outright confirmed, the game seems to imply that Kris may indeed be dead by the end of the game once the SOUL re-enters their body, considering that the Snowgrave ability is supposed to be fatal and Kris's HP is shown to drop to 0 once Noelle freezes them. This gives the very heavy implication that Kris can no longer fight off the SOUL, and that the SOUL may be entirely in control of their new vessel, puppeteering a corpse.
