The SOUL, also known as The Player or Kris, is the main protagonist of JQR's adaption of the Salt Route fan concept.
Much like their original counterpart, they recruit Spamton as part of their party after collecting five Salt Stains. They force Spamton to kill dozens of people throughout the Cyber World, manipulating him constantly. Unlike their original counterpart, this version of the SOUL has a bit more characterization, shown to be more arrogant and wrathful than their original counterpart.

Compared to their original counterpart, this version of the SOUL has more characterization. This version of the SOUL is shown to be more arrogant and abusive than their original counterpart, as when Kris begins to resist them, they forcefully take control over their entire body. When Spamton also tries to back out of their deal, the SOUL punches him in the gut and begins dragging him to continue their slaughter, showing that his version of the SOUL is fine with physical abuse. There is also signs that they are incredibly power hungry, using Spamton as a tool to become more powerful.
They are about as manipulative as their original counterpart, trying to convince Spamton that they were just helping him while in reality, they were just using him as a weapon. When Spamton asks them whether or not he has impressed them, they reply with a no. This makes it clear they just viewed Spamton as a tool and nothing more.
