~ The Temmies to Chara through an Echo Flower |
The Temmies are the main antagonists of TS!Underswap, an Undertale fangame made by Team Switched. They consist of seven plush Temmies artificially brought to life, who now seek a human soul due to lacking souls of their own. Chara, a human child who had fallen into the Underground, meets the first Temmie, who soon tries and fails to take their soul. At the end of Ruined Home, the other six members are revealed, and the group begins to stalk Chara through the rest of the Underground, waiting for a moment where they're completely alone to strike.
Appearances[]
The Temmies are a collection of seven small white plushies resembling a mix between a cat and a dog. They all have simplistic cat-like faces, dog-like tails, and long gray hair. Additionally, they have a pair of cat ears atop their heads, and dog ears on the sides. Most also have shadowy forms, appearing as black silhouettes with glowing white eyes and mouths.
The original Temmie wears a blue-and-yellow striped sweater. They are seemingly the only one who does not have a shadow form, but can instead distort their face and turn their front paws into large clawed hands.
Pride Temmie is the only member of the group who is bipedal instead of quadrupedal. They wear a black sweater with a large yellow bowtie, making them resemble the non-plush Temmie seen in the game's intro, and their eyes are covered in shadows. In their shadow form, they have round eyes and a simplistic mouth which can stretch into a wide grin. In this form, they can also turn their face sideways.
Greed Temmie has a single strand of curly hair poking out the top of their head, and a pair of round gold earrings on their cat ears. They wear a black business suit with a red tie. Their shadow form has large, angry looking eyes and long, sharp teeth.
Sloth Temmie wears blue-and-yellow striped pajamas, and a matching blue sleeping cap with a yellow puffball on the tip. While spying at the festival, they instead wear an outfit akin to Crossbones', with a light blue shirt with a pair of white bones making an X-shape in the center, and a light blue mask over their eyes. In their shadow form, they have large, tired looking eyes and a gaping white maw with small black fangs.
Lust Temmie's shadow form has heart-shaped eyes that change in size as they talk, and flat teeth. Their real form is currently unknown.
Gluttony Temmie's shadow form has X-shaped eyes and a giant snout full of long, sharp teeth. Their real form is currently unknown.
Wrath Temmie's shadow form has long, thin legs, pinprick eyes, and a wide smile with prominent fangs. Their real form is currently unknown.
Biography[]
Ruined Home[]
Compassion Route[]
At the end of Ruined Home, the original Temmie tells Chara that their kindness to the monsters won't matter because they'll all just eventually forget about the human anyways. They then tell them that if they're worried about being alone, the plush has "friends" to make sure that will never happen again, with five other Temmies appearing from the darkness in their shadow forms. They gawk at Chara's human soul before Pride Temmie appears as well, telling the human that their efforts will all go to waste, as now that they aren't so lucky to have Asgore to save them, no one will hear their screams.
The seven Temmies close in on Chara to kill them, but right before a battle is started, Flowey pops up and asks if it's interrupting something. It then tells Pride to make their group back off, threatening to call Asgore over otherwise. Frustrated, Pride asks if it's joking, then says it's lucky they're in a good mood. They have the group leave the human alone, promising that they'll get their soul when the flower isn't around, before disappearing into the darkness.
Neutral Route[]
At the end of Ruined Home, the other six Temmies appear the same way as in the Compassion Route, though this time berate Chara for the monsters they've killed. Pride Temmie then remarks that the human had carved a path through Ruined Home, leaving behind a trail of monster dust. They say that Chara must be proud of what they've done, but now that they're with the Temmies, they once again state that no one will hear them scream. The rest of the scene plays out the same as in the Compassion Route, except Flowey will threaten to deal with the Temmies itself if the player has killed Asgore.
Ruthless Route[]
At the end of Ruined Home, the original Temmie is impressed with Chara's massacre, and says they have friends who can offer guidance as the others appear. They applaud the human for what they've done and encourage them to keep going, with Pride stating that through determination alone, they reduced the City of Old to dust. Pride offers a partnership, but Chara instead steps forward, intending to attack. Realizing the human doesn't want to team up, Pride calls for a retreat, leaving the original Temmie all alone. Chara is about to attack the remaining Temmie, but Flowey appears and knocks the plush away before that can happen.
Starlight Isles[]
In all routes, the Temmies begin stalking the player in their shadow forms throughout the isles in place of the original Temmie. Additionally, Sloth is seen disguising themself among several plushies at an attraction during Starstruck Village's festival, dressed in a costume similar to Crossbones' like the other prizes. Greed can also be seen watching the player from one of the top carts on the ferris wheel after the battle against Count Koffin-K, quickly closing the curtains once spotted.
Compassion Route[]
While playing the minigame of the booth Sloth Temmie is spying in, they can be seen in the background, starting out purple like the other plushies and fading to white while waking up as the game progresses, glancing often at the player once fully awake, and closing their eyes and reverting to purple once it's over.
After leaving Starlight Isles, Chara crosses a bridge to Crystal Springs, where they overhear Pride asking Greed and Sloth what they saw while they were stalking the human. Greed reports that they only saw Chara being compassionate as usual, while Sloth states that they caused some minor ruckus at the festival with Koffin-K. Sloth then asks if they can leave, to which Pride snaps at them to take the situation seriously, saying that they can't waste their opportunity to get a human soul because one of them was too busy napping. Sloth retorts that they didn't see Pride doing any scouting, to which the leader says they had more important business to take care of, complaining that the group wouldn't get anything done if it wasn't for them.
Greed then asks why they don't just kill the human, and Pride explains that isolating them won't be easy now that they have so many connections and eyes on them. Greed states that it would be easier if they knew about Chara sooner, and when Sloth says that Asgore interrupted their scout, Greed adds that said scout had tried taking the soul for themself without the rest of the group. Pride rhetorically asks if Sloth and Greed wouldn't do the same, and reminds them that they can't be hasty.
Sloth then spots Chara on the bridge watching them and tries to warn Pride, who talks about how they'll learn about the human and take their soul once they've outlived their usefulness. Pride once again snaps at Sloth to stop interrupting, but their attention is the brought to the human. They ask Sloth why they didn't say anything, but Greed retorts that they heard them trying to tell the leader. Pride then asks Chara what they'll do, with Greed asking if they'll let the trio make the first move, and Sloth saying they probably will, even if they don't want to. Pride then tells the human that they should get going, and not to let the three stop them. Trying to talk to the three yields only an ellipses. As Chara makes it past the bridge, the Temmies can be heard laughing ominously behind them.
Neutral Route[]
While talking on the bridge, Greed reports that Chara's pockets were lined with gold covered in monster dust, and Sloth adds that they tried to kill Koffin-K. When asked why they don't kill the human already, Pride explains that they've made both friends and enemies.
Ruthless Route[]
Upon checking the now deserted Echo Flower stand in Starstruck Village, it will repeat a message from one of the Temmies reminding Chara that they're being watched. While resting in the Starstruck Village inn's attic, Chara has a nightmare about their old life on the surface. As they sleep, the shadow forms of Pride, Greed and Sloth appear from behind some boxes for a split second. Flowey then wakes Chara up, telling them that it's been protecting them from the Temmies while they rested, and they wouldn't believe what had happened.

“ | Pride: Well? What did you see? Greed: Nothing but the same WORTHLESS compassion. Sloth: Oh, you know... they made some trouble in the village... Pride: ...Is that everything? ~ Three Temmies talking on the bridge between Starlight Isles and Crystal Springs |
Trivia[]
- They are most likely based on the seven deadly sins due to their appearances and dialogue:
- The leader Temmie is pride due to them looking down on the other Temmies and openly admitting that they consider themselves better that the others, and the whole reason the group gets anything done.
- The sleepy Temmie is sloth due to them being dressed in sleepwear and constantly being bored or tired.
- The earring Temmie is greed due to wearing gold earrings and a business suit, as well as immediately trying to get Chara's soul at the end of Ruined Home in the Compassion Route, calling them a corpse looter in the Neutral Route, and remarking that they had a lot of dust-covered gold in on the bridge in the Neutral Route.
- The heart-eyed Temmie is lust due to their aforementioned heart eyes.
- The toothy Temmie is gluttony due to their massive mouth, as well as wondering what Chara's soul tastes like at the end of Ruined Home in the Compassion Route and calling them the devourer of life itself in the Neutral Route.
- The long-legged Temmie is wrath due to telling Chara that their journey is about to end at the end of Ruined Home in the Compassion Route, and loudly shouting that they're a murderer in the Neutral Route.
- This leaves the original Temmie as envy, as in the Ruthless Route they tell Chara that they've done a better job at wiping out Ruined Home that they themself ever could, and express jealousy at Flowey's confidence and charisma, as they always do what the other Temmies tell them to.
- Originally, the other six Temmies all had the same design, with the Pride Temmie having slightly larger eyes. This was changed in the Starlight Isles update, where each Temmie was given a redesign that makes them more distinct from each other and better reflects their personalities.
- It's implied that one of the Temmies was the one to bribe Muffet into trying to kill Chara, though it's unknown which.
- It's commonly theorized that since the original Temmie is the reincarnation of Monster Kid, the other six Temmies are the reincarnations of the six humans who entered the Underground between Frisk and Chara.
