Tails secret history new

Tails wants to give a warning: This Article Contains Spoilers - WARNING: This article contains major spoilers. If you do not wish to know vital information on plot / character elements in a story, you may not wish to read beyond this warning: We hold no responsibility for any negative effects these facts may have on your enjoyment of said media should you continue. That is all.

(Note: this page will be updated once I complete the reboot series, The Guardian Files: Take 2, to accommodate for some new lore. Signed, Zenith Media Incorporated.)

For though we are three separate people... WE WORK AS ONE.
~ All three members of The Thing in episode 5, revealing themselves.

The Thing is the main antagonistic faction in the analog horror web series The Guardian Files (which, for those unaware, is a horror parody of KimiOmega's Kirby Guardian).

Despite being unseen in the series itself, they do play a pivotal role in the story, since they’re the ones responsible for kidnapping and assassinating Adorenu Nakayoshi. The group consists of 3 males: Theodore Egbert, Terry Henderson, and Ian Nathaniel Gomez (the latter of the three also serves as their leader).

Each one is voiced by the creator of The Guardian Files, Zenith Media Incorporated, albeit pitched down by a certain amount.

Biography[]

The Thing’s origins are completely unknown, but it can be inferred that they were founded sometime before the year 2000.

In early June of 2000[1], the Thing hatched a campaign against Adorenu Nakayoshi, a 12-year-old Asian girl who they saw as a “monster" to be killed. At first, they started by stalking her wherever she went; and then, they’d chase her down if she walked into their line of sight, but to no avail.

At the end of that same month, they took things a step further[2]. They knocked her unconscious and dragged her body away to an undisclosed location, serving as a major catalyst for the latter half of the series, starting with episode 5.

However, Adorenu Nakayoshi would try to flee from her kidnappers in episode 8[3]. Once they realized where she went and why she seemingly disappeared, they started looking for her; and by the events of the series finale[4], she was detained and killed with a shotgun. After that, the Thing left her corpse behind, and they went off in search of more victims.

On July 12, 2000, two weeks following Adorenu’s kidnapping, an unnamed detective found her dead body and alerted the local police department of his discovery. They wasted no time in solving the case, since the culprits would eventually be identified and arrested. Six days later, all three members of the Thing were charged with child abduction and homicide, and the authorities rightfully sent them to a state prison.[4]

The only remaining evidence of their big crime was a series of DVD's that were stored in the Zenith Media Incorporated archives, which would be uncovered by an employee named Zack; their contents were later uploaded onto the internet.[5]

Personality[]

The Thing, as a whole, is dedicated to crime and driven by hatred. The leader of the gang, Ian, is very strict and authoritarian, but his cronies don’t seem to really like working for him (especially Theodore). Ian also doesn't want his kidnapped prisoners to escape.[3] Even more so, they're very delusional and self-righteous.

Known Victims[]

  1. Adorenu Nakayoshi

It's likely that The Thing may have kidnapped and/or murdered more people than just Adorenu, including children. However, this is never brought up explicitly in any episode of The Guardian Files. The only thing that suggests this is the series finale, where it's stated that they were arrested on multiple charges of kidnapping and murder.[4] Other than that, it's mostly ambiguous.

Quotes[]

Are you even LISTENING to me?!
~ Ian N. Gomez in episode 2, when Adorenu doesn't stop stroking a Kirby.
I got you now. COME WITH ME!
~ Terry Henderson in episode 4, when he's about to drag Adorenu away.
Oh, you stupid, spoiled brat. You can't do anything right. Why must I be doing this? I can't be watching over her all the time. I have work to do! Hey, boss!
~ Theodore Egbert in episode 6, ranting about how he's forced to surveil Adorenu.
Hey, lady... stop looking at me like that. You look stupid.
~ Theodore Egbert in episode 6, when he locks eyes with Adorenu.
We can't let that monster get away from us! Boys, GET 'ER!!
~ Ian N. Gomez in episode 8, after knowing about Adorenu's potential escape.

Trivia[]

  • The name of the group is an acronym of the first letters in each individual member’s name: Theodore Egbert, Terry Henderson, and Ian Nathaniel Gomez.
  • The Thing was never referred to by their group name within any episode of The Guardian Files, but in the description for each one.
  • Ian’s name was revealed first, in the description for episode eight. Then, Theodore and Terry’s names were revealed at the end of episode nine.
    • Ian also has a Hispanic-sounding last name, Gomez, to contrast with the other two, who have typical American names.
  • Terry Henderson's only major speaking role in the entire series was in episode 4, since he was the one who dragged Adorenu Nakayoshi away (it's the only thing he did, on an individual basis, and episode 5 will not count).
  • Because the backstory of The Guardian Files involves a Zenith Media employee uncovering a series of DVD’s hidden inside the company’s archives, it’s implied that the discs might be linked to The Thing's crimes.
  • In episode 3, it's revealed that one of them (presumably Theodore) knows Chef Kawasaki.
  • As confirmed by the Zenith Media, The Thing's name has no correlation with the iconic horror movie The Thing; however, the name was likely a reference to the film.
