♫ Read between the lines and you might find the margins. So eat up the jargon, don't argue the bargains. Or I'll add a no pets clause, it wouldn't be hard. And I will have every resident live IN THE GARDEN. ♫
~ Tom Nook's worst act, threatening to expel all of the residents from their homes.
♫ Never seen a game so twee, but there's administration fees, for this little haven we've, chiseled from complacency. And you pay it gratefully, slaving every day for the price tag attached to the back of your new horizons. ♫
~ The Chorus to Tom Nook's song.
Tom Nook here with an island announcement. There is an unscrupulous character lingering in the back of the island. Do not talk to him. Alright?
~ Tom Nook warning the residents about Redd.

Tom Nook is the main antagonist of Stupendium's Animal Crossing: New Horizons song trilogy, being the titular main antagonist of Nook, Line and Sinker and These Hallowed Wings, as well as the secondary antagonist of Rogue's Gallery. He is the greedy business tycoon in charge of the different islands the mayor visits who tries to gain as much money as he can by ripping off the innocent residents. He is the archenemy of Crazy Redd.

He is voiced by Greg Holgate, better known as the Stupendium, who also voices Crazy Redd in the same series.

Personality[]

Tom Nook is the archetype of the greedy businessman in racoon form. He is willing to rip off anyone at any price in order to make money, no matter what trouble he may cause. However, he is also a great manipulator, since he manages to keep his reputation with the public near perfect, with none of them ever suspecting that he has anything other than the best of intentions towards the other animals.

He isn't completely heartless, however. He does show some genuine care for Blathers early on since he was happy at the museum's opening (although this could have been faked since he does ask for the rent later) and tries to protect the villagers from Redd. Nonetheless, he is still a ruthless businessman whose only real motive is to make a quick buck.

Biography[]

Nook, Line and Sinker[]

Tom Nook is the business tycoon in charge of the town's shop. Tom Nook reveals early into the song that all of the residents are in his dept and that he basically runs the entire town. He then reveals his simple yet effective plan; have the villagers buy townhouses that they spruce up to sell to other people while pinning all of the town's problems on some random resident he declares as the mayor. He then reveals that he also scams some of the residents out of their money by lying about the appearances of the houses.

As he continues to reveal his crimes against the people of the village, even causing some of their houses to collapse on them while also blaming the mayor for his own failures, he shows off his massive fortune, showing that he profited off of everything he did, before threatening to evict everyone from their homes if the mayor reveals anything about his crimes. The video ends after he tricks the residents into donating money to the orphans (which is really just his own bank account) and forces the mayor to pay his rent using any sort of valuable.

These Hallowed Wings[]

Tom Nook makes two cameos during this song, the first being during the opening of the museum, where he is celebrating along with everyone else, and at the end of the song, where he remind Blathers that he has to pay back the loan used to open the shop on Monday.

Rogue's Gallery[]

Tom Nook makes a cameo early on trying to sell a painting to a potential customer, with Redd making this and saying that his are better. He also appears at the end of the video, where he demands that the villagers stay away from Redd since he is dangerous.

Trivia[]

  • Tom Nook is the only character to have speaking roles in all three of Stupendium's Animal Crossing Songs.
    • Blathers appeared in all three but only spoke in the latter two videos, while Redd only appeared in the latter two videos and only spoke in the last one.
