~ Tricky during the first part of Hellclown. Notably, the same thing also happens halfway through Expurgation. |
Dr. Hofnarr, better known by his alias Tricky the Clown, is the titular main antagonist of The Full Ass Tricky Mod and the secondary antagonist in The Madness Combat series. He used to be an assasian hired by Sheriff to kill Hank J. Wimbleton and later became to primary antagonist of the Tricky saga, and would be a major antagonist in the The Auditor saga.
His mod is/was created by Banbuds,Rozebud,Kadedez and Cval as a homage to the Madness Combat series in general. His week has 4 songs: Improbable Outset, Madness, HELLCLOWN, and a secret song that you unlock by clearing the full week on Hard Mode called Expurgation.
Appearance[]
Tricky is a light green zombie with curled, light red-orange hair. He wears a gray cloak or shirt, and a dull blue ruff with somewhat blue orbs and a pair of dull blue shapes.
During Improbable Outset, he has an Iron Hockey mask, and shakes due to being unable to control himself thanks to the Portable Improbability Drive. He also holds a microphone in one of his hands.
During Madness, Tricky loses his mask due to Hank shooting it off, revealing a grunt's head whose jaw seems to have been partially torn off, revealing a bloodied jaw and rows of teeth. Notably, Tricky's face is now framed into an angry expression, and is now heavily shaking thanks to the Improbability Drive.
During HELLCLOWN, Tricky turns into his demon form; a large, red-flaming demon with a darker red skull with two bright white eyes. His teeth become fanged and bright yellow, and on top of his head lies two more sets of flamed "horns" which are actually just his hair. Furthermore, Tricky's hands are now the same colour as his skull, and even have black nails at the ends.
During Expurgation, Tricky takes on his relatively smaller skeleton form, which is a grayish-black in colour with bright red eyes. His regular hair still remains intact, and the Corrupted Halo that The Auditor once used is visibly seen floating above his head. In this form, Tricky shakes so much that he is barely visibly seen.
History[]
Background[]
Tricky as seen in MC3: Avenger.
Tricky would originally come from the Madness Combat series, and was a Hard-to-Kill nemesis/provoker to Hank. The Lore and Info about him that has been revealed outside of the series and has answered by the creator himself via Curiouscat and additional lore in the Project Nexus games.
Friday Night Funkin'[]
In the first cutscene for the mod, Tricky would be seen with his stop-sign after coming through a crack that it left behind., Tricky would see the Boyfriend and presumably shakes before challenges BF into a rap battle, resulting in Improbable Outset, the song would be easy as it goes.
After Improbable Outset, Hank J. Wimbleton would notice Tricky attempting to kill the Boyfriend, resulting in Hank shooting his mask off, thus breaking. Tricky, maskless and infuriated, would challenge BF for the second time, resulting in the second song, Madness.
After losing a second time, Tricky reaches his breaking point and fires a laser beam out of his mouth, but not before saying 'YOU DO NOT KILL CLOWN, KILLS YOU!'. Afterwards, the Girlfriend would point up after giving the Boyfriend a thumbs up, to which Tricky, now double the height he was, comes down from the sky. After awakening, Tricky would let out a screech before fighting the Boyfriend as well, resulting in HELLCLOWN.
With his patience thinning, Tricky slams his hand on the ground as the Boyfriend drops his microphone. Hank, seeing this as an opportunity for him, shoots the big red demon, but to no avail. After a failed attempt at killing Hank, the two get into a battle, but Hank, who came unprepared and without bullets, is punched straight into a wall by Tricky. Boyfriend, shocked at this, is unable to notice the giant clown behind him.
The Boyfriend would attempt to harm Demon Tricky by throwing his microphone at him, although his attempt as drops 1 nanosecond after. Tricky screeches both Boyfriend and Girlfriend away afterwards. With his patience wearing thin, Tricky attempts to kill boyfriend by punching him with his fiery fists. Luckily, Tricky is halted by an unknown force (presumed to be the Greater Good or something else), and later implodes. Boyfriend throws in one last beep before fainting due to exhaustion.
The last cutscene shows the Auditor at the Portable Improbability Drive, with the device in the process of getting hacked by what we can presume to be the Greater Good, if not the same virus that captured Hex. The cutscene then cuts to a close-up of the Auditor's confused face before it ends, but not before we see Tricky, presumably imprisoned or worn out, lying on the floor, attempting to get up.
During the secret song Expurgation, Tricky appears from a fissure in the ground, with Girlfriend being visibly tied up. During the song, a number of things will happen, from signs blocking your view, to having a "Health Gremlin" drain your meter, to having notes that instantly kill the Boyfriend, should he hit them. The award for beating Expurgation is a Tiny Desk Tricky, which you can annoy just by clicking it.

Trivia[]

- The Tiny Desk Tricky occasionally meows if you click on it.
- In Expurgation, the background bares heavy resemblance to the background we see in MC11: Expurgation.
- According to Krinkels, Tricky is the most intelligent character in the Madness Combat series. This is possibly due to his job as a scientist when he was still alive.
- Hellclown, his third song, is notorious for being "one of the hardest mod songs to remix" due to it's time signature changes.
- While Tricky's demon form in the original series was white, here it is depicted as red, which may be a reference to Madness: Accellerant.
- Tricky has made cameos in lots of other mods, where he seems to be less aggressive.
- One of his quotes in the Expurgation song involves him calling Boyfriend a 'midget', which may reference how Boyfriend isn't a child and is just really short.
