Turbo Mecha Sonic, better known as just simply Mecha Sonic, is the main antagonist of the 2006 flash animation series Super Mario Bros. Z.
Originally created by Dr. Eggman as Metal Sonic, he was originally made to destroy Sonic, as it was his sole purpose. However, after losing many times, he became more deranged and took to search for the Chaos Emeralds on his own to become the only unstoppable force at near godhood and using the power to destroy both universes, including being responsible for his own homeworld’s destruction. He is also the archenemy of Team Mario.
His voice clips were mainly provided by Andrew Chandler.
Personality
Turbo Mecha Sonic, is by all means, a power-hungry and heartless psychopath who will do anything to achieve his goals of becoming a god, as he already believes himself to be one, becoming even more arrogant and witty as the series goes on. He is completely willing to kill people just so he can gain the Chaos Emeralds so he can become an dangerous anomaly, as he is seen killing a Goomba in his first appearance for a Chaos Emerald they found, and killed Sonic and Shadow's friends, many other people on Mobius, and multiple others.
He seems to take pleasure in his nasty actions of making people suffer as well, as well as beating Yoshi to a pulp, seeking to obliterate the realms of both Mario and Sonic’s home-worlds and brutally dismembering the Axem Rangers X, having absolutely no regrets for what he did. And when he was getting ready to destroy Yoshi’s Island, he laughed when Sonic told him he would be killing too many innocents and said “I know” as if that was exactly what he was hoping for. This just shows that Turbo Mecha Sonic is a very sadistic psychopath who enjoys suffering. He is also still completely willing to kill Sonic, despite no longer being loyal to Eggman.
Despite his blindness to power, he is Increasingly ruthless towards his ambitions to defeat his foes , which Sonic himself admits Turbo’s Willpower and efforts to defeat him. but also adapts towards tracking his enemies,
Biography
Past
Turbo Mecha Sonic after crashing the Death Egg into Mobius, viewing the carnage he caused.
Prior to the events of the original series, Metal Sonic was originally created by Eggman, made for the sole propose of killing Sonic. He fought Sonic multiple times, becoming stronger and stronger each time he fought him. One night, on the Death Egg, Metal Sonic fused with Silver Sonic/Mecha Sonic Mk1, Mecha Sonic Mk3, and Mecha Sonic (Robian) three previously defeated robot doppelgängers of Sonic, and took on the alias of "Turbo Mecha Sonic."
Turbo Mecha Sonic teleports to the Mushroom Kingdom, in search of finding the Chaos Emeralds.
He would soon destroy the Death Egg with Eggman inside it, crashing it into Mobius. Turbo Mecha Sonic would soon become more bloodthirsty and power-hungry, killing innumerable people on Mobius, including Sonic and Shadow's friends, while also searching for the Chaos Emeralds. He would soon fight Sonic and defeat him, taking the Chaos Emeralds so he could turn into his ultimate form and become a "god". However, before he could do so, Shadow intervened and warped the Chaos Emeralds into another reality. Mecha Sonic would soon after teleport the Chaos Emeralds, using energy he already absorbed from them to do so.

Turbo Mecha Sonic Saga
Episode 1
After teleporting to the Mushroom Kingdom in order to find the Emeralds, Mecha Sonic would find a Goomba who took one of the Chaos Emeralds. Mecha Sonic would demand the Goomba to give him the Chaos Emerald, and when he doesn't, he kills him with an energy blast and immediately takes the Emerald for himself.
Episode 3
Turbo Mecha Sonic kicks Yoshi, starting their fight.
After Yoshi finds one of the Chaos Emeralds, Mecha Sonic would soon arrive and try to also take it. When this did not work, he engages in battle with him. During the fight, Mecha Sonic is shown to be savagely beating him. He defeats Yoshi and takes the Emerald, and also attempts to kill him, only to end up getting distracted by sensing both Sonic and Shadow. Wanting to regain the Emeralds, Mecha Sonic leaves an injured Yoshi, just so he can find the Emeralds.
Episode 6
After sensing the Emeralds, Mecha Sonic would head to Yoshi's Island. After arriving, he would defeat the Koopa Bros. and break the Axem Ranger X's blade in order to regain the Chaos Emeralds.

After encountering both Mario and Sonic, the Axem Rangers X would try to attack him, only for Mecha Sonic to use the Chaos Emeralds to transform into his Super-Semi Form, and fight them. During the fight, Mecha Sonic kills every member, one by one, tearing Yellow apart, decapitating Green and crushing his head, chopping Pink in half, and destroying Black. Red calls Mecha Sonic out for his horrible actions, calling him a monster, only for Mecha Sonic to reply by claiming that he was no monster, but a god.
Red would then try to kill Mecha Sonic by blasting him with a gun, only for Mecha to end up surviving and brutally beating him and blasting him away. He would then attempt to destroy Yoshi's Island with a giant ball of energy, only to be interrupted by both Mario and Sonic, disrupting his attack and taking back one of the Chaos Emeralds. While his attack wasn't fully formed, Mecha still launches it toward the island, successfully destroying Yoshi's Island, killing the Koopa Bros, though failing to kill both the heroes and Yoshi Tribe that were on it.
Episode 7
Not too long afterward, Mecha Sonic would find Mario and Sonic in the Pipe Maze and attack them. After their fight, the heroes would enter the Minus World, only for Mecha Sonic to follow soon afterward. However, upon entering the world, they were separated.
After eventually finding them, Mecha Sonic engages in another battle with the heroes, and eventually, he does take back one of the Chaos Emeralds. After doing this, Mecha Sonic would try to teleport out of the Minus World, only to discover that this was actually impossible, as the Minus World would not allow it due to it's energy. Furious, he decides to attack the heroes one more time, Shadow, Luigi, and Yoshi also joining in.
Once Kolorado's stopwatch is activated, the Minus World was restored, though for a brief amount of time. Before Mecha Sonic kills them, Shadow teleports the heroes out of the Minus World. Mecha Sonic would escape not too long after.
Episode 9
Mecha Sonic would find Shadow the Hedgehog in a desert not too long after, demanding him for the Chaos Emerald, and ask for him to tell him where the other Chaos Emeralds were. Shadow refuses, and the two would engage in a fight.
While the episode was never finished, Mark Haynes, the creator of the SMBZ series, would state that Shadow lost the fight to Mecha Sonic, and that he would end up gaining the rest of the Chaos Emeralds. It is also stated that Mecha Sonic would have soon after start a fighting tournament, and at some point, he would have one final battle with the heroes before his ultimate defeat. It is likely that these events will eventually be covered in the reboot of Super Mario Bros. Z, though not confirmed.

In the reboot series, Turbo Mecha Sonic is replaced by Metallix, though his role is basically the same, as they are both versions of Metal Sonic who transform and seek to gain the Chaos Emeralds to become a god. Metallix serves as the main antagonist of the reboot.

Reception
Turbo Mecha Sonic is often viewed as one of the most popular fanon villains from both the Mario and Sonic series, mainly due to being intimidating and having much more of a clear personality than his original counterpart, not to mention he killed almost all of Sonic's allies. He is generally well received and is considered to be one of the most evil villains from the Mario and Sonic fanons, as well as one of the most intimidating and interesting. Despite this, some people thought that Mecha Sonic went too far by killing most of the main Sonic characters, as some people stopped watching the series after he did so.

Trivia
- While Mecha Sonic didn't originate from Super Mario Bros. Z, he does seem to be even more popular than his original counterpart. Arguably, the series was what actually made him famous.
- Turbo Mecha Sonic was originally going to turn into Metallix at some point in the series after he gained the seven Chaos Emeralds, as it was going to originally be his ultimate form. This was changed in the reboot series, as Metallix is just his normal form.
- He is heavily inspired by Cell from the Dragon Ball series.
- He appears in a total of 8 episodes throughout the original series, making him the most recurring antagonist in the entire series.
- His theme comes from the Metroid Prime series, originally being Dark Samus' theme.
- Turbo Mecha Sonic's quote, "I'LL CRUSH YOU!" is referenced in Scrapnik Island #4 of the IDW Sonic the Hedgehog comics. Comic writer, Daniel Barnes, confirmed via Twitter that this was in fact intentional.
