Lila Render 3

Second Lila being proposed to be Pure Evil.

Before all, thanks to Mr. Jay 641 for Whitelist me. A hug for you, man!

Now, let’s go to a variant of “Liar” Rossi who, when I thinked about, thinked that she was a perfect candidate for be Pure Evil. Why? You will see. Bear with me, because I will (or at least try to) bring you more a candidate for the Complete Monster category! So, how The Pro-Westler would say… let the trial commence!

What’s the work?[]

"CAT BLANC" is a one-shot fanfic from Archive Of Our Own, or AO3 for short, written by OminousPredictions. The one-shot adapts the episode of the same name from the third season of the series Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir, but with the difference that it includes today's candidate... Lila Rossi.

Who’s the candidate? What did her done?[]

Lila Rossi is the main antagonist of the fic, based on her canon counterpart with the same name. She is a lying girl who wants to be above others no matter what. She hates Ladybug massively for exposing her as a liar to Adrien, and hates Marinette just as much for knowing she is a liar and not supporting her wave of lies. She tries everything to end her rivals, without knowing they are the same person... even allying herself with a magical terrorist to do so.

When Marinette and Adrien start dating (they found out that the other was their heroic partner, but that's another story), Lila is FURIOUS. In her mind, only she has the right to be with Adrien and acquire his luxurious life. She even tries to slander Marinette to make others believe that she only wants to be with Adrien for fame and money. But since Marinette's friends are good people (and are not victims of the original series' writing), they don't believe her, knowing that Marinette is not that kind of person.

Until, during Ladybug and Cat Noir's battle against Hawk Moth, where the latter reveals to them that he is Adrien's father and why he wants the Miraculouses, Caline Bustier's class ends up witnessing Hawk Moth throwing his own son across Paris and psychologically pressuring him to help him get the Miraculouses. Because of their dialogue, the students discover the identities of the three Miraculous users and are perplexed (what an understatement). Lila, meanwhile, only thinks about how stupid Hawky's goal of wanting to revive his wife is, but sees an opportunity to get the Miraculouses for herself and acquire ultimate power.

Then, when Hawk Moth is going to akumatize Cat, Ladybug immediately tries to stop it, but Lila, eager to witness her adversary's downfall, grabs her to stop her, encouraging Hawky to akumatize his own son. She then starts to fight with Ladybug, desperate to get her earrings. But then, when she discovers that Ladybug is Marinette Dupain-Cheng, the crazy woman simply starts to strangle the heroine in cold blood, and proudly and sadistically states that she will do the same with her family and friends, but Ladybug manages to free herself. Unfortunately, she does not prevent the akumatization of Cat Noir, who becomes Cat Blanc.

Hawk Moth then orders Cat Blanc to KILL Ladybug and take her Miraculous, with Lila grabbing the heroine so that the kitten can kill her with a Cataclysm, but he doesn't have the courage. His power gets out of control because of his emotional breakdown and begins to destroy everything. Lila immediately runs away and leaves everyone to die, but not only does she not escape death, but she also receives the most painful death.

Until, when Ladybug from the present fixes everything, preventing this disastrous timeline from happening, she, convinced by Bunnyx, gathers Cat Noir and Rena Rouge to set a trap that exposes her to the authorities as Hawk Moth's helper. How do they do it? Our duo, through Rena's Mirage, pretend to be Hawk Moth and Mayura and offer Lila a chance to be akumatized to get the Miraculouses, and when asked if she would defeat the heroes at any cost, she says she would burn the entire city if necessary. This seals her fate and she is caught by the authorities, taken to Italy and arrested.

Heinous Standards[]

As you can imagine, this fanfic is set in Cat Blanc's time, so that already eliminates many possible competitors for Lila: Chloé never betrayed the Miraculers, Mayura didn't kill Senti-Bug, Hawk Moth didn't try to start World War III, Tikki didn't try to destroy Earth and Félix hasn't even appeared yet. Her only competition is Cat Blanc, who destroyed the world, Hawk Moth, the cause of it, and maybe Stormy Weather, since logically, the episode Stormy Weather 2 occurred, but let's take it easy.

Since this is a fanfic, Stormy Weather 2 may not have even happened. Everything Hawk Moth has done in the series is off-screen in this fic, but even if it's not enough, I can show how Lila passes the Heinous Standard.

First: She stopped Ladybug from purifying the akuma, grabbing her so Hawk Moth could akumatize Cat Noir. This already shows that she is willing to let brainwashing happen willingly if she can get revenge on Ladybug. She also shows no reaction while Hawk Moth psychologically and even physically abuses her son, unlike the other students, who are horrified.

And as soon as she finds out that Ladybug is Marinette, Lila shows even more sadism, deciding that she would only be satisfied by killing Ladybug and then taking her Miraculous. She tries to do this in a particularly bloodthirsty way, strangling her to death. And she even proclaims that she will kill not only Marinette, but all of her loved ones, even though they had nothing to do with the situation! And there is no sign that she was bluffing.

When Hawk Moth orders Cat Blanc to kill Ladybug, Lila quickly cooperates, holding Red so she can die. When Cat Blanc's power gets out of control, she just walks away and leaves everyone to die.

As a minor but significant detail: Even before the whole Cat Blanc mess happened, the narration describes that Lila, so angry at Marinette for being with Adrien, wanted to strangle her to death, and this is never said as hyperbole. She just didn't do it for pragmatic reasons, as she wanted to maintain her good girl image for the school.

Yes, Gabriel was pretty horrible in this fic. He psychologically and even physically abused his own son to blackmail him; he akumatized him, tried to force him to kill his own girlfriend and indirectly caused the destruction of his world, in addition to being a terrorist. However, the fact that Lila, being just a normal high school girl with fewer resources, wanted to kill a person just for being with the boy she's obsessed with, stopped Paris' defender from purifying the akuma so she could allow Cat Noir to be akumatized, tried to murder Ladybug in cold blood, and threatened to kill innocent civilians, makes her just as heinous, taking into account the difference in resources, and in fact, she is just as guilty as Hawk Moth for the destruction of the world by stopping Ladybug from purifying the akuma. Sure, it wasn't her intention to destroy the city, but she also showed no remorse for it and simply blamed it on Ladybug! In fact, she herself went as far as to say:

“I’ll gladly help Hawk Moth burn this city to the ground if it means getting rid of you.”

And she repeats this in the repaired timeline:

"Hawk Moth": Are you willing to help me seize Ladybug and Cat Noir’s Miraculouses?

Lila: Of course, Hawk Moth. You don’t even need to ask.

"Mayura": At any cost?

Lila: If I have to burn this city and everyone in it.”

I think that says it all about her passing the Heinous Standard.

Mitigating factors[]

Oh come on, this is Lila Rossi we're talking about! She doesn't have a single redeeming quality! It's not shown that she cares about her mother and her supposed "love" for Adrien isn't pure love, it's just a desire to be famous like his girlfriend and obtain fortune, fame and glory.

Although she is affable with Hawk Moth and even refers to him as a "friend", she herself was planning to betray him and take the Miraculouses for herself when she discovered that they provide absolute power. She is also quick to abandon him to his death when Cat Blanc's power goes out of control, showing that she only sees him as a means to get revenge on Ladybug and nothing more.

She has no comedic moments and is taken completely seriously as a threat. Her “excuses” for hating both Ladybug and Marinette are stupid and do not justify anything she did, since the heroine only called her a liar in front of the boy she doesn’t even love. Petty and selfish.

Although the Ladybug of the present felt a brief sympathy for her when she saw that she died alone and in pain, she was quick to subvert this when Bunnyx showed her what she did in the bad future, even wanting to KILL the liar. So, yes, the narrative also shows no sympathy for her.

Besides, unlike Gabriel, who in the end, just wanted to bring his wife back and realized before his death that he made a mistake by akumatizing Adrien, Lila doesn't love anyone and used her final thoughts to curse Ladybug and blame her for the end of the world that she herself caused.

Final Veredit[]

Honestly, since there are technically two variants - one from a broken future and one from the fixed timeline - it's kind of complicated. I'm not sure about Lila from the fixed timeline, but the one from the bad future? Definitely yes!!!
