What's The Work[]
It's a Kid's World is the series of The Loud House fanfictions created by Tales of Interest. The plot is triggered when every single adult mysteriously vanishes one day and the kids of the Loud series are forced to navigate this new world.
The fanfic is much Darker and Edgier than its source material and there are villains that show it.
Who Is He And What Has He Done/Moral Event Horizon[]
At first, presenting himself as Boris Durvil a supposed kind man and the last living adult in the entire world. The first thing I will mention is that Boris gives a supposed theory to Lisa that the person behind the big vanish wanted to get rid of all people that could oppose them from taking over the world and recreating it in their image.
It is only much later that the true threat is revealed. Lord Viribus with some assistance from David is the true person behind the Big Vanish in an effort to eliminate all adults so it would only be defenceless children behind, and they had been undermining Lisa's efforts to reverse this. Viribus along with David plans to lead an army of what we later find out is robots and zombies to kill off all the remaining humans and place a bunch of the strongest people into robot bodies in order to rebirth the world into a brand new species of humans. Lisa is disgusted to find out about this but Viribus and David contain her as insurance.
It is later revealed that Viribus was the sole person that came up with this idea and that David was mostly a pawn in his plan. It is also revealed they had been converting children into robots even before the Big Vanish happened in preparation for what was about to come.
Viribus begins his murderous rampage by massacring an entire village full of people and converting the rest into zombie slaves. Lisa during this time manages to convince David to turn on Viribus and sabotage his plans. Another even worse detail is revealed that Viribus has a failsafe that in the case his plans ever fail the attempt to bring the adults back will send out one final shockwave that will wipe out absolutely everyone on earth, including Viribus himself. Viribus found out about David's betrayal through and he was not happy but he only saw this as a minor inconvenience and still thought he was unstoppable. He managed to grab David and took him away to be tortured for information by being hooked up to a machine that would drain the energy out of him.
Later on in the story also learn about Viribus' past. He was a boy named Jake Kelly who didn't have a great childhood and as a result, grew to despise humanity. We also later get some quite horrible images of exactly the process he uses to covert kids into robots and zombies. The kids subjected to this are in pain as a result. The Louds find out about this and are absolutely horrified at him.
Viribus later comes face-to-face with the Loud Family and after a brief talk where Viribus explains his motives and the family calls him out on how evil he is. The sides get into a fight but the family is forced to retreat as a result one of Ronnie Anne's tigers and Lola (seemingly) dies and Viribus gets to work converting the tiger into a robot. Viribus also later upgrades himself into a new robotic body and begins the big final battle after the minor setback he received.
Viribus's human harvest has begun and a massive war has broken out between his army and the kids banding together to fight him. There are many casualties on both sides but ultimately he is defeated and killed.
Redeeming Qualities/Mitigating Factors[]
There is only one real one to mention. Viribus does have a Freudian Excuse that being he was bullied and alone as a child and grew to hate humanity as a result. But that instantly falls apart when you consider all the stuff he gets up to. His past is also barely mentioned and completely offscreen and the heroes outright call him out on it as a Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse.
Alright now I will get to the big one and this will apply for both this one and my next proposal. Since this is a much, much Darker Loud House fanfiction to the point it is even rated T some of you may be wondering if this is pointless shock value. I can confirm that it isn't though the stories are surprisingly good and clearly have a lot of effort put into them, the darker elements are used to supplement the story not dominate it.
The setting is also radically altered for the source material, basically becoming a normal post-apocalyptic setting where all the adults vanished to the point where the world is basically nothing like what it was before, except it still has Loud House characters, which does help quite a bit as it means that conduciveness isn't an issue. The author also directly states that it is set in an Alternate Universe from the main Loud House show.
None of the stuff in the story is done tastelessly and the horrible stuff is treated as being horrible In-Universe. It is also not completely dark, there are glimmers of hope and lightheartedness and the story does ultimately end on a Bittersweet Ending where the adults do return.
There is also far more to the plot than just "bad things happen". There are multiple arcs focusing on different characters and with 5 Seasons the series is super long. Also, the similarly named Kids World has a nearly identical plot and that is approved so I don't see how this would be any different.
Heinous Standards[]
The fic manages to rack up a decently high heinous standard with just what it has, but Viribus is by far the worst villain in the entire series. He is the one behind the Big Vanish the disappeared all the adults, an event the story goes to great lengths to show just how devastating it is for society. Viribus also plans to wipe out all the remaining kids to create a new species of humans through some really horrible methods. Yeah, no problems here.
