Victim, formerly known as victim, is the main antagonist of the Animator vs. Animation fanfiction They're Sticks, Probably by HakureiRyuu.
He is Alan Becker's first creation and by far his most vengeful. Seeking to bring an end to his creator as a way of comeuppance for his own abuse, he creates Rocket Corp, hiring mercenaries in order to capture the Chosen One, break from his original purpose, and find Alan's location to finally achieve his mission.
Appearance[]
Victim takes on an identical appearance to his canon counterpart, being a grey stick figure with a hollowed-out head, similar to his siblings. Just like in canon, he started out black before turning grey post-resurrection.
History[]
Backstory[]
Like in canon, victim was Alan Becker's first creation, his sentience possible due to a piece of programming/a virus that Alan's friend Programmer021 made for him. After a short fight, victim was ultimately "killed" when Alan close the Flash animation program without saving. However, an invisible shadow of him was left on the desktop, slightly slowing down the cursor's movement once it moved over him, but never noticed.
An unknown amount of time later, victim would accidentally be resurrected by the Chosen One spreading life wherever he went. Eager for revenge, he build up a company called Rocket Corp and hired four mercenaries - Striker, Ballista, Primal and Hazard - to help him in his quest. At the same time, he builds "The Box", essentially a small, digital computer where anyone at the control panel has total control over everything inside it. In the Box, victim would re-enact his original fight with Alan, except with him coming out victorious.
They're Sticks, Probably[]
victim is first seen when Striker comes into his office, to alarm him that the Chosen One has completely disappeared after they chased him. victim realises he must have escaped to a computer for shelter, and demands Striker to go over previous leads so he will be captured alive and able to talk, but not without saying he left "a few new toys" waiting for his employee at Research.
After Striker comes back to the headquarters, he shows off the Command Block he stole from King to victim. After learning more about King - how he had numerous more blocks in his house with various staffs to operate it, and having lost his child in the "Booth 30 Incident" - victim laments about the missed opportunity to hire him as an engineer. He then reveals to Striker that Primal had already reported to him and said that the computer she was in belonged to Alan. Later on, they find out Red and Yellow have sneaked into the headquarters by masking themselves as workers; Striker and Primal are send out to capture them, and they do exactly that.
The three are imprisoned inside Rocket Corp cages where the employees use their help to experiment with Minecraft, primarily inside the Box. victim uses King's knowledge about Command Blocks to help in his tests, often trying to do something similar in the Box. One day, they have a conversation where victim envies King for being able to move on from the tragedies of his life, and implies he would be willing to kill Purple too. Later on, the heroes break into Rocket Corp headquarters, where victim and Striker spot Chosen trying to free Yellow. The black stick figure tells them that if Yellow is let go peacefully, he will give himself in. victim agrees to the offer and orders Striker to escort Yellow. He then leads Chosen into the Box before entering it himself.
Similar to canon, victim proceeds to torture Chosen inside the Box, where he properly reveals who he is, with Striker helping him by using the controls. However, unlike in canon, the Second Coming intervenes by sneaking into the room and distracting Striker. While he's busy, Chosen manages to get an opportunity to use his fires to burn victim alive, killing him. However, he manages to respawn; now with an uppercase V instead of a lowercase one, finally having a real name. Satisfied with the results, Victim tells Striker his job is finished, and that he and his team are let go and will be paid for all their help.
An unspecified amount of time later, Victim hacks his way straight into Alan's PC, presumably using Command Blocks, while every other stick figure is gone. Using a synthesized AI voice, he properly speaks to and greets his creator. Having already know he's not dead, Alan immediately recognizes Victim. He tries to explain himself, saying he was young and hadn't known anything at the time, but Victim doesn't listen. He mentions his torture of Chosen and how it ultimately wasn't personal, and calls out Alan for his hypocrisy when he claims Victim should have tried more peaceful means before torturing him. He then proceeds to outright admit he wants to kill his creator. Alan responds by turning on Adobe Animate program to imprison Victim, claiming that he wants to "figure this out" even if he can't let his creation hurt anyone else.
Victim proceeds to reveal just how he plans to kill Alan: Using his technology, he hacked a military site to send out an ICBM straight to Alan's location, planning to kill his creator and himself by staying on the PC as it will be destroyed. He refuses to hear out Alan's panicked attempts to talk things out, and takes joy upon hearing he has children that will die with him. As Alan continues to panic and shuts down at the realization he's going to die, his wife Sarah enters the room and reveals via an emergency broadcast on her phone that the ICBM has already been intercepted. As Victim taunts Alan about using the remaining time he has left, he reveals to the stick figure that his plan. He searches up a news report on the situation on his PC, letting Victim see it. As Alan tries to explain everything to Sarah, Victim has a mental breakdown about him not achieving anything and still being a victim, attacking Alan's cursor in rage and even making the mouse shock him. Not knowing what else to do, Alan unplugs the computer, putting Victim to "sleep"; essentially a comatose state unless it's turned back on.
Legacy[]
After Victim's defeat, Alan reveals the truth about stick figures to Sarah. She is accepting of it, and points out that even if Alan hurt him, Victim chose to go as far as he did. Unable to turn on his PC for everyone's safety, Alan starts using his old laptop and lets the Stick Gang move to it. Meanwhile, he purchases a new hard drive so the PC can be turned on again while keeping Victim contained. He keeps the old hard drive around him, holding the sleeping Victim inside it. Alan and Alex think about the possibility of letting Victim out and trying to do something to redeem him, and when the former blames himself for his creation, the latter comforts him by saying that he ultimately chose everything he did, and if Chosen could change for the better, then Victim had the same option but refused it.
The news of Victim's actions eventually reach the Outernet, causing outrage among the public. However, all the Mercenaries see is opportunity: Serving as security to powerful stick figures who will eventually learn that they helped Victim and realise it's better to have them on their side than working against them. As the mercs temporarily part ways until things calm down, Striker visits the IP of Alan's PC, thinking about his former boss and how, knowing his "younger brothers", he will be given a second chance. He tells Victim to "sleep well" before he drives away.
Ultimately, Alan decides to put the hard drive away and wait until he's ready to confront Victim again. The narration also reveals that he has considered destroying the hard drive to kill Victim once and for all, but refused to do it because if he came back the first time, Alan doesn't want to risk him coming back again. As of now, this is the final fate to Victim's story, stuck in a never-ending sleep in an abandoned hard drive, waiting for the day Alan gives him a second chance.
Personality[]
Victim's personality can be best described as cold and calculating. He always has a calm, professional demeanor, very rarely breaking from said front. Underneath this professional demeanor, however, hides an incredibly vengeful and sadistic stick figure who is hellbent on killing his creator to the point where, when his plan of attempting to bomb his location fails, he completely breaks down, losing all stoicism as he begins to glitch and break, showing that he isn't as collected as he likes to portray himself as. Victim is obsessed with getting revenge on his creator, showing joy when he learns Alan has children that will die with him, and is willing to get others killed to achieve this goal, as shown by him finding Hazard's possible death "promising" for his plans.
It's been shown Victim has a major complex about his weakness, powerlessness, and being made to be a simple victim, using the Box to convince himself that he is powerful and in control, while still seething in anger that he's at the mercy of the Box's controller. Additionally, King implies that Victim is in some way unable to fully take action due to his code, and that he hates it and wants to change it; something he implicitly fixes after encountering the Chosen One. For all his cruelty, Victim isn't merciless and actually keeps to his word, as shown when he lets Yellow go upon accepting Chosen's deal; and pays the Mercenaries once their jobs are finished and lets them leave with no further trouble.

Trivia[]
- In Victim's first chapter, it's actually implied he's one of his clones rather than the real deal. However, this is never brought up again.
- Until he's killed by Chosen and respawns, Victim went by it/its pronouns. However, he started using he/him after his resurrection to symbolize him having a proper name thanks to the capitalized V.
- According to Word of God, Victim's AI voice sounds like that of Alastor from Hazbin Hotel.
