~ Vladimir Putin resigning as his health deteriorates. |
Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin is one of the overarching antagonists of the Hearts of Iron 4 mod The Fire Rises. Serving as the Overarching antagonist for the European storyline and the overarching protagonist for Russia's storyline.
He is a Russian Politician who has served as the President of the Russian Federation since 2012 and previously from 2000-2008. Beginning the new decade, he begins by handling the future of Russia's economy, upholding his Party's popularity, and sorting out his foreign policy against Westerners.
Overview[]
Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin was born on October 7th, 1952, in Leningrad (during the Soviet Union.) During his early career, Putin climbed his way starting off within the ranks of the KGB, spending most of his time assisting the Stasi in East Germany. Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, he entered politics in a newly-christened city of St. Petersburg, and saw a rise during Boris Yeltsin’s administration. It wasn’t until he was appointed Prime Minister in 1999, and became the acting President following Yeltsin’s resignation, that he received endorsement for the 2000 elections from the previous President. After handily winning the 2000 election, he has not left the Governmental Office ever since.
In Game[]
Vladimir Putin is introduced focusing on reinforcing the Russian Federation by handling with multiple issues, such as dealing with Western influences, controlling the popularity of the CPRF, LDPR and the Liberal opposition, and stabilizing the economy. Not long into the game, Russia would eventually get impacted by the Coronavirus Pandemic, later on oil crisis that is sparked when Saudi Arabia collapses into a civil war that sparks global instability.
When handling Western influence, the player has two choices. One of the options is to move Fifth Column, which involves dealing with the pro-Western officials, including Alexei Navalny. The other option is to defend Russia’s geopolitical stance and assist the Separatist republics.
Dealing with extremists, Putin can subvert and undermine the influence of the CPRF and LDPR, to uphold the popularity of United Russia. Putin deals with the two organisations by preventing the parties from rallying or conducting campaigns. By subverting the popularity of both the LDPR and CPRF. Putin boosts the minor parties within the All-Russia People's Front to weaken the two.
For the economy, Putin could either focus on corruption or ensure a ‘Sanction-Proof’ Economy. Should Putin choose to focus on corruption, Russia would focus more on improving its citizens' lives and restoring its faith in the government. Should Putin choose to enforce a ‘station-proof economy’, Russia would increase its self-sufficient economic stance and increase ties with China. Also part of the Economic focus tree features Putin's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Not long after the spread of the Coronavirus Pandemic, Putin himself ended up contracting the disease, falling ill as his life ends up cut short. During the late stages of his contract with the disease, Putin could either remain in control until his death or resign from office and give the Presidency to Sergei Naryshkin to serve as the Interim President. Should Putin not resign and remain in office, not long after the Second American Civil War begins, Putin succumbs to the Coronavirus, and is succeeded by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, who serves as the Interim President until an election is called.
Should United Russia secure its victory in the snap presidential election after Putin's resignation or death, Dmitry Medvedev (The chairman of United Russia, and the President if United Russia's elected) will continue Putin's legacy, either by taking down towards a moderate stance of Putinism or take a more hardline stance and continue Putin's authoritarian values.
