W.D. Gaster, also known as Gaster or The Man, is the overarching antagonist of Deltarune, serving as the secret boss of Chapter 7.
An enigmatic creature and the master of The Knight, Gaster is a curious mad scientist that is willing to whatever it takes to research something he finds interesting and intriguing, even going as far as trying to bring forth the Roaring simply out of pure curiousity. Gaster's backstory is unknown, but it is speculated that he "fell into his own creation and was scattered across time and space", hence his powerful and vast abilities; he is seemingly able to do almost whatever he desires. He can, for example, manipulate the Deltarune game world as well as its inhabitants, as shown when driving both Jevil and Spamton insane with his mere presence.

Not much is known about Gaster's past and backstory due to his enigmatic demeanor that is shrouded in mystery. However, if Gaster is from Undertale, which is pretty likely, his backstory could revolve around him supposedly falling into his own creation and was scattered across time and space.

Gaster appears as a skeletal being with a scared eye and fissure on the top of his head that extends to his left eye. He wears what appears to be a large black overcoat and a white undershirt. Similar to the Knight, he has skeletal hands with holes in them.
Powers and Abilities[]
Gaster's powers and abilities are seemingly near-limitless, making it almost impossible to explain his powers and abilities and how they function, though he is immensely powerful and has many tricks up his sleeves. He is so powerful and influential, in fact, that he can maniplate and bend the Deltarune game world to his liking.

- "W.D. Gaster" is presumed to be a combination of the fonts "Wingdings" and "Aster."
- Kris had seemingly met Gaster before the start of Deltarune, though it is unknown how or when this took place.
- Attempting to name the vessel "Gaster" will cause the game to return to the intro/reset.
- Gaster is the only individual character to have a unique typeface and soundbite without their face accompanying the text box when he talks.
- Gaster's Theme is 17 seconds long, possibly alluding to Entry Number 17.
