Best place to start looking for a rotten apple is at the bottom of the barrel, and Wario's as rotten as they come. If it was no good, he was into it. Toad trafficking, illegal Yoshi fights, back alley shakedowns, that dance video of him and Waluigi they kept trying to make go viral. If he didn't poison me himself, then he knows who did.
~ Luigi's description on Wario.
Answers? Hahaha, you hear that? Luigi comes into my house and wants answers!
~ Wario to his men after Luigi begins questioning him.

Wario is a major antagonist in Dial L For Luigi.

He is a depraved crime lord who has engaged in multiple different kinds of illegal activity, importing drugs, holding illegal Yoshi fights, trafficking Toads, and presumably many more. After Luigi becomes mysteriously poinoused by blue shells and is given eleven hours to live, he goes to his club to see if Wario had answers, even if he wasn't the one who poisoned him.

He is voiced by RicanFly, who also voiced another version of Wario in The Cursed Cap Saga, Mario in the same series, and Mugman in Secret History.

Appearance[]

Wario's appearance is mostly similar to his original counterparts, appearing to have a round yet somewhat muscular body. He has a pink nose with a pointed mustache, rather large eyebrows and brown hair. He wears a yellow buttoned shirt with short sleeves, pink pants, and a gold chain around his neck.

Biography[]

Not too much is known about Wario's past, but it is known that Wario has engaged in countless illegal activity in the past, ranging from trafficking multiple Toads for unknown purposes, holding illegal weaponry such as bob-ombs, importing drugs, to holding illegal Yoshi fights to gamble money.

After Luigi was poisoned, he goes to Wario's club to see if he knew anything about what could have happened and who may have been responsible. Upon being questioned by him, Wario laughs and mocks Luigi for coming to question him, then tauntingly told him to "calm down." After giving him one chance to answer the question on who he knows could have possession of blue shells, Wario would laugh again and mock Luigi once more. However, before anything else could happen, Luigi would threaten to leak photos of Wario selling bob-ombs on the blackmarket if Wario still didn't give him answers.

While Wario was enraged at first, he'd immediately calm down and acknowledge Luigi's courage for answers. Wario would then tell Luigi to head over to Bowsers to find answers, as he knew Bowser handled them. After Luigi left he decided to come after to kill him for threatening him, he arrived and seeing and the others who hated Luigi, Luigi after mistaken them as the one guilty Wario and the others attacked Luigi wounding him and escaping and then succumbs from the poison

Personality[]

According to Luigi, Wario is perhaps one of the most rotten and depraved criminals out there. Wario seems to enjoy getting himself involved in illegal activities and has involved himself in many different kinds, ranging from Toad trafficking to illegal Yoshi fights and alley shakedowns, heavily indicating Wario has almost no standard for what he does at all. Wario also seems to enjoy mocking Luigi, welcoming him as "his least favorite Mario" when he came to him at his club and would continue to mock him after he began asking for answers.

Despite Wario's depraved nature, he does seem to at least appreciate Luigi's courage, though it is entirely possible Wario may have just shown his appreciation just to make sure Luigi wouldn't leak evidence of his crimes. Wario does also appear to not have interest in blue shells despite their dangerous nature, claiming they are too hot for his taste, indicating he either just has no interest in them or finds them to be incredibly dangerous. It is also vaguely implied that Wario does care about Waluigi, as he did try to go viral online with him and does seem to keep him around as a companion.

Trivia[]

  • During Luigi's monologue about Wario's crimes, Wario can be seen shoving a Toad into the mouth of a thwomp during one his alley shakedowns. This gives the heavily implication Wario may have actually killed people in the past, though unconfirmed.
  • It's hinted at by Toad that this version of Wario might be biologically related to Mario and Luigi.
