William Afton, also known as Springtrap or Purple Guy, is the main antagonist of the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise. He is a serial killer who killed five children at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza before being killed himself, therefore kickstarting the events of the games. He has been represented in a multitude of fan works based on the franchise, almost always with an important role.

Vukmir Afton: A version of Frank Heffley who became a perverted snuff filmer in Serbia after growing bored of his humdrum life.
William Afton (FNaF VHS): The main antagonist of the FNaF VHS series by Squimpus McGrimpus. He killed one child in 1984 and four children in 1985 after the death of his son, Joseph, in 1983.
William Afton (The Talbert Files): the overarching antagonist in the supposed hoax of The Freddy Files' early version. He's no different than the commonly agreed original lore version of William Afton, besides the fact that instead of partnering up with his best friend Henry, William in The Talbert Files works with Phone Guy (Steve Callahan) and takes the daughter of his former employee Emmett Tucker as his first victim.
William Afton (AUCFNAFT): The main antagonist of the An Undeniably Canon Five Nights at Freddy's series by the ooftroop. He is a more comedic version of the original William Afton from the games who's main motivation is due to Henry not repaying him his five dollars.
Simon Fitzgerald: The posthumous overarching antagonist of the POPGOES series. He is the original Purple Guy, having murdered several children and used their blood in his experiments.
- Simon (POPGOES): The main antagonist of the POPGOES series. He is a robot created to resemble Simon Fitzgerald. He controls the entire WeaselWare system, and used it to revive Blackrabbit and kill his creator, Fritz.
  - Simon (EthGoesBOOM): The main antagonist of EthGoesBOOM's POPGOES playthrough. Unlike the canon version, he is an evil animatronic who designed the POPGOES game with a virus to hack and kill players of the game as he takes the Toy animatronics to obtain their power.
Dave Miller: The main antagonist and deuteragonist of the Dayshift at Freddy's trilogy. This version is noticeably more comedic.
- Afton (The Entire FNAF Lore In a Nutshell): A adaptation of Dave Miller from Dayshift at Freddy's.
- William Afton (Wyatt Boi): A adaptation of Dave Miller from Dayshift at Freddy's.
Springtrap (Tony Crynight): Afton's undead form, Springtrap, in Tony Crynight's Five Nights at Freddy's series. This version isn't in any way possessed by Afton, and the only thing it has to do with him is being Springtrap.
Vincent (The Return to Freddy's): The secondary antagonist of the The Return to Freddy's series. In this version, he's the Phone Guy. He sees nothing wrong with his actions, he tries to murder one of his friends and one of his reasons for murdering kids was to "satisfy his mentally ill friend's bloodlust", which is probably just an excuse or an attempt to make his friend okay with child murder.
- "Fritz Smith" (Five Night's at Freddy's 3 (2014): the main antagonist of a supposedly lost version of Five Nights at Freddy's 3.
Ignited Springtrap: The main antagonist of The Joy of Creation: Halloween Edition. He is an ignited version of Springtrap.
William Afton (The Hell in Freddy's): A parody version of William Afton. This version kills in far more gruesome manners, and commonly uses a gun as his main weapon of choice.
Henry Emily (FNAF Musical): The main antagonist of FNAF: The Musical who killed William Afton and stole his identity. He is a psychopathic killer, who tried to make the animatronics and night guards turn on each other. Despite being the counterpart to Henry Emily, he is a lot more similar to the canonical Afton.
- Purple Guy (FNAF Musical): The secondary antagonist of FNAF: The Musical. He was the dayshift guard who used Springtrap in order to scare the night guard to quit, so he can get more hours, and thus, more money. Despite being Purple Guy, he is a different character than William Afton.
- Glitchtrap (FNAF Musical): The main antagonist of First Nights at Freddy's, the prequel to FNAF: The Musical. He is a variant of Glitchtrap, one of the forms Afton takes in the main series. Despite this, he's (once more) not actually William.
Springtrap (EthGoesBOOM): The main antagonist turned supporting character of the EthGoesBOOM YouTube channel. He is mostly the same as the canon version, except more comedic and lighthearted, as well as redeemable.
The Animatronic (Dead By Daylight): A fan concept for Springtrap appearing in Dead by Daylight.
The Attraction (Dead by Daylight): Another DbD concept for Afton.
William Afton (Freddy's Revenge): The main antagonist of Freddy's Revenge and the overarching antagonist of its sequel, Return To Freddy's. This version, despite being very similar to the canon version in some ways, is also very different in others. This version is overall smarter and more manipulative than canon version. He also suffers from schizophrenia and is highly delusional. He seems to believe that he is a higher being from humans and that mankind is a pest.
William Afton (JOLLY) - The overarching antagonist of the JOLLY video game series, who is a genuine businessman that goes on to build hostile animatronics and kills children out of sheer sadism, although unlike his mainstream counterpart he is completely unaware of the supernatural forces in the series.
William Afton (FNaF Movie): The main antagonist of a concept for a 2022 FNaF movie. He would be portrayed by Joaquin Pheonix. This version is FAR more evil than the canon version. He finds sick pleasure in torturing and murdering people, namely kids. Despite this, he can also be very wise-cracky and sarcastic at times.
William Afton (Lipse) - The main antagonist of season 1 of the web series Five Night's at Freddy's, made by Lipse.
Vanny from HuxRen123's Five Nights at Freddy's movie - The main antagonist and the final, foremost threat in the FNAF fanfilm made by HuxRen. He used to be called Will Afton and he owned The Pizzeria, intending to kill as many kids as possible and make them appreciate his "art". He was later killed by Mike Sandbarson (the fanfilm's protagonist), and he was revived as Vanny, his own creation, as he dropped his goal to use art for appreciation and kill people with that being an excuse. He is also the first version of William Afton to be the same guy as Vanny.
William Afton (Fredbear's): An alternate universe version of the Purple Guy who sacrifices children to the Old Ones.
Purple Guy (Happiest Day): The antagonist of the 2015 short film Happiest Day by Grab A Half productions.
Richard Afton: The main antagonist of ExtravagantSquid's Five Nights at Freddy's universe.
Billy Afton: The villainous protagonist of the 2018 short film Purple Guy: The Complete Fan Film by Iron Horse Cinema.
Peter (Hidden Lore): The main antagonist of the 2015 YouTube series Five Nights at Freddy's: Hidden Lore.

William Afton (Drawkill): A more sci-fi themed Afton who uses his experiments to create the Drawkill animatronics.
Springtrap (Five Nights at F***boy's): Afton's undead form, Springtrap, in Five Nights at F***boy's series. This version isn't in any way possessed by Afton, and the only thing it has to do with him is being Springtrap.
William Afton (Crossroads Trip Roleplay Server): A version of Afton who seeks world domination via army of animatronics.
Owynn: A teenage version of William Afton who is the main antagonist of Five nights at Freddy's: High School.
William Afton (Mike's New Ghostly Family): A version of Afton that serves as posthumous antagonist of Mike's New Ghostly Family, though he still continued to briefly pose a threat even from beyond the grave, even escaping Hell to take revenge on Mike Schmidt.
- Glitchtrap (Mike's New Ghostly Family): A version of Glitchtrap, the form Afton took in the main series. However, Glitchtrap in this story is not the true William Afton, but rather a fragment of his soul that manifested as its own entity.
William Afton (Man In Purple): In this version of the Character, He's the titular protagonist of the fan made Five Nights at Freddy's story. It all starts in the 1970's in a town of Massachusetts, and is keeping an addiction that he would never release at that point, but lets it out at some point.
William Gravouli Afton : The main antagonist of the EBREDDY fnaf series . He killed 6 kids and 1 night guard and became Springtrap and Scraptrap eimai toso gravouli toso strabouli.
William Afton (Villain Animatic): The main antagonist of the video [FNAF] Villain - A Vanessa/Vanny Animatic. This version uses Vanessa for his nefarious plans just like in canon, but the video focuses greatly on the psychological effects this all has for the poor woman.
The Entity (Apple Family Horror): The Overaching Antagonist of The My Little Pony Horror Fanfiction Apple Family Horror Afton is known as the Entity, and manipulates Applejack into Murdering Children for her Apple Fertilzer.
Glitchtrap (Darkest Desire): A version of William Afton who is the main antagonist of Darkest Desire duology by Dawko, this is the only version of Afton who managed to take over the world.

Lisa Stone: The main antagonist of A Week At Thomas series, she is the true identity of the enigmatic Purple Guy from the four FNAF games only. In AWAT Lore, she is a woman who is responsible for the Missing Children Incident and almost everything happens in the series. But unlike the mainstream counterpart, she is completely unaware of the supernatural forces or the remnant & agony in the series.
- Jericho Aniston: The secondary antagonist of A Week At Thomas, he is the security guard of Freddy Fazbear Pizza who assists Lisa in a child killing spree and figures out that she is behind the disappearances and murders of children in Thomas Fantasy Land. Unlike Lisa, he was doing this to achieve eternal life than pleasure.
Charles Williams: The main antagonist of VS. Xoral Guy, in which he was a joke character conceived as a parody of Ourple Guy. As of January 2025 however, he's become more of his own character, independent of VS. Xoral Guy.
